Thanks! This kind of thing has been going on for years, but increased use of social media has really made it worse.

It's little more than the modern day version of sharing nasty gossip at the back yard fence, only now it reaches millions of people in an instant and is promoted by shady, anonymous characters.

People should be careful clicking on these "fake" news stories. It's possible to pick up some terrible viruses in your computer.

one of the many reasons why i don't use any social media, no facebook, no twitter, etc etc,

IMO, these things do more harm to society then good,

email, phone, and text is good enough for me

The last place for truth in my opine is cnn. They are very bias, d brazile is one example, they let her go because it was found that what she was accused of doing was very true. And yes fb & twitter are bias as well. Jmo

And yet they still employ Corey Lewandowski. Why can't they learn?

Twitter and FB are social media platforms and not news outlets.

Unfortunately both are used to spread a lot of fake news, hate, and urban legends. I find myself wishing the entire internet had to play by Websleuths rules - if you can't back it up with msm, snopes, or a direct quote don't bother posting. :)

You may want to archive webpages on this or other threads to guard against their redaction. You can use archive.is webpage capture

How to Use:

  1. Simply copy the url address of the page you want to save.
  2. Paste it into the white box (bordered in red).
  3. Click 'save the page' to the right.
  4. Wait a while and, voila, a copy of the webpage and a screenshot tab (toggle between tabs to switch between them) will appear!
  5. You can also download them using the 'download.zip' feature above the archived webpage.

What's even more disturbing is that some people believe everything they read, because it's on the Internet, so it has to be true. Cue that commercial.

And it shall go on!

Agree. Never believe anything you read/hear from CNN, NYT, WaPo, NBC, ABC, Fox etc... Lies upon lies.

We are allowed to use all those sources for anything we post here.

There is a big difference between the issue of bias on CNN/FOX etc and the plague of fake news that is being discussed.

It is now an industry to create entirely fake stories and present them on misleading websites that pretend to be real news sites.
