We tried to go, but spent 3 hours trying to get on the Metro in Dunne Loring and get to the mall instead. The line went 3 blocks just to get to the platform, and every train arrived full until we figured out to go in the wrong direction and then just stay on the train when it turned aroudn. Despite all that it turned out to be a fun adventure, all the other riders were going to the same place and everyone was in high spirits and enjoying the trip. There were wonderful costumes and amazing signs. We streamed the rally on our computer in the Metro train, and everyone watched together as we rode. It was a zoo, but really a lot of fun with the crowds and general mood.

I don't recall a thread for those who attended the Glenn Beck rally on WS. I surely hope WS hasn't gone partisan. Was dismayed to see this.

If I'm not mistaken I believe that anyone who wanted to start a Glenn Beck rally thread on here could have done so. I don't follow the political forum on Websleuths too much so I'm not sure if anyone did or not. I will say that I am dismayed to see someone dismayed that a thread was started on here for non-partisan rally.

DH and I wished with all our hearts that we could have made a family trip to Washington happen around this rally!! Love Colbert (my high school home boy) and Stewart with all my heart!

I was there at 7:30AM and got into the front section of the Rally. Cat Stephens! I still can't believe it and I can't believe Stephen Colbert interrupted his Peace Train song for any reason - especially a comedy schtick. Great Rally. Tons of folks arrived too late because the subway was overrun with folks. I had a great time. Everyone was NICE.

Really? How do we know this? (I'm not being snarky...just asking because I was not there and want to know.) Were all of the attendees at the rally polled? Thanks for any info on this....I sure wish I could have been there!

I myself vote the candidate, not the party. I research the candidates and the issues on my own, and I don't vote straight ticket if it isn't warranted. In this election I did not vote straight ticket. If my vote was for a Democrat then I simply felt that he or she were the better candidate. I know that a lot of my friends who attended the rally, as well as ones like myself who wish they could have attended, vote this way as well.

I may be a little late to this thread.But I have been super busy.Catching up now.

Anyways...I went to the rally and I had a good time.Everyone was friendly.My fiance and I managed to squeeze in.The stage was somewhat within sight.There was a jumbotron to the right of us so at least we could see and hear what was going on.

It was PACKED!!!!People were climbing in trees and on top of the portapotties.

It is hard for me to even say what the best part was.Having Ozzy and Yusuf there was a complete surprise.Jon Stewart gave an awesome speech at the end.If you have a chance,I would say it is worth a listen.It is online at comedy central.com.

What I took away from the rally was just a call for decency and respect for one another.My favorite line that Jon Stewart said was "We work together to get things done every damn day" which he was referring to how as Americans we work with people every day who are different from us but somehow we get things done.He pointed out that in Wash DC and on TV,our differences are kept to further divide us.We should be focusing on solutions,instead of name calling.It was a powerful message because somehow all that gets lost in the day to day.

I don't think Jon Stewart's message was a political one.It is just about agreeing to disagree and moving on.We need progress in this country.

I admire Jon Stewart for having the courage to speak his mind in front of thousands of people and putting himself out there.He knew all the criticisms.He mentioned several times what the media would say about this event.I am hoping that somehow it brought a little bit of sanity back.I know for me it did. :)

Plus, this was not an invitation only event. Anyone who wanted to could have gone and that includes people of all political parties.
