Also, it seems that GS is a media <mod snip> who loves the limelight. They said he went to "The People's Court" to sue a family member. Vinnie Politan will be covering this at 3pm on HLN. That's approx. 15 minutes from now.

I am curious what that witness Gus was insinuating when he said it could hurt her (jodi) or free her and then changed it to 'it could free her or hurt her' after Chris Hughes knocked some sanity into the guy by reminding him that Jodi had already confessed to the cold blooded killing.

I wonder if Gus was involved in those letters JA wrote pretending to be Travis and writing that he was a pedophile etc?

I was wondering about that too. Curious if he has some information that could be helpful and other information that could be damaging -or- is it the same information that he's going to put his own slant on depending on who he's testifying for? I can see him changing up the same story depending on who is benefiting HIS purpose.

Okay, after having the week+ off from the trial, I'll be catching up a bit today. The big thing I caught early last week was the "getaway car" thing, so I need to read up more on it. Happy to have tomorrow off to watch along with y'all.

O/T but hubby laughs that I come here to relax. I'm an odd duck, it seems. Quack.

minor4th, is there a legal problem with Sky and Chris Hughes having access/knowledge of the witness lists? What's the basis of this misconduct charge?

Is Chris Hughes on the witness list and not supposed to be watching media? Is he not allowed to contact another witness? I don't get the point.

The witness lists are usually filed and are a public record so there should not be a problem with Sky and Chris being told who was on the list. I really don't understand what the basis for the misconduct allegations is unless it's witness tampering.

They said this text message was in January so I'm assuming it was after the trial started. I don't know if Chris Hughes was on either witness list, but the witnesses are typically instructed not to communicate about the case with anyone else and in this case would be instructed not to watch the trial since it's televised. I do not know if this is what normally happens in Arizona though.

OK, am I the only catty, snarky person wondering if Gus has a hard on for Jodi? Hmm what did Jodi do at Gus's? color her hair? "shave", dry hump him? borrow any money?

We have this and Jodi's mother's complaint about the jury, so what will be next?

I agree, compare his actions with these ladies and the proposal video. :waitasec:

Gus Searcy and the Searcets...

proposal video, starting at the dating portion: http://youtu.be/MxDvzcYXv3Y?t=1m18s

I have seen a half dozen of these PPL/LS videos or more, including ones with TA. Why is it that I have NEVER heard ANYONE mention insurance in any of these videos? Isn't that the product?!?

Sounds scammy to me. That is JMHO, though.

This makes NO sense to me......maybe Maricopa County is diff than Pima County where I am.....last two high profile cases I followed were here and one was four days a week like clockwork, the other was 5. This sure does not make sense.

i don't like it at all. especially in a DP case. this case should progress to its conclusion without all these breaks and days off or they shouldn't have started it until that was possible. i don't think it's fair to EITHER side. i also don't like this jury running around loose with all this free time.

if this trial had taken place in texas, it would've lasted maybe 2 weeks (tops) and been over with.

Nurmi lied to Sky to forewarn them about hearing ..and lied to her about letters that were concocted and forged by Jodi. So Chris told Gus he thought Nurmi was a liar.

Do we know the exact lie?

To me, the most striking thing about the start of the defense is its randomness. A woman is being on trial for her life and the best they can do is to focus their energies on a scatter-shot attention-hound who will not help them win measures against the prosecution.

The only possible rationale for this is to better prepare Jodi for testifying, but that doesn't seem to be happening. (I do think, however, that she will testify.)

Why are all of you under the impression that PT is unable to see what motions DT is filing?? Unless it's some weird Arizona law, in my trial experiences, "Under Seal" means only the Judge, counsel and parties to the suit can see it. I know an affidavit can be filed under seal if the subject matter is subject to atty-client privilege, but even then you submit a redacted copy to opposing counsel!
It just doesn't make sense to me that one side can file an entire motion secretly without giving opposing counsel a chance to prepare/respond - seems extremely unproductive!!

They are saying this is much ado about nothing. One guy called it a leap. The host called it a quantum leap that the prosecution would use a go between to talk to GS for them. :sigh:

In Session is saying Chris Hughes was on the stand because he knows Gus Searcy who is married to Sky Searcy. The Searcy's hosted meetings for Jodi and Travis, because they live halfway between the two.

Supposedly Gus said Searcy wasn't sure if he would be called as a witness. He had tried to call the prosecutor's office, but never got a call back and it agitated him. Searcy said he wasn't going to say what he knew, he'd save it for the stand. While talking to Chris Hughes Gus said he had information that could free her or hurt her (meaning Jodi).

Chris Hughes never told Searcy that he had been talking with the prosecutors office.

:waitasec:

I hope I got that right.

Beth Karas is saying that the DT is accusing the prosecution of using Chris Hughes as a way to get information to GS. Supposedly this is based on what Searcy is saying. I think the DT wants to call Searcy to ask him if the prosecution ever spoke to him about the case. This is what I'm getting out of it.

I hope I got that right too.

Not exactly, Chris is married to Sky Hughes. Travis and the defendant used to meet half way at the Hughes' house when they were dating.

Gus is engaged to this lucky lady with the most romantic proposal.

Really, no court Thursday? Thanks. Half the time I don't know what's going on.
Feels like I'm pushing a huge rock uphill just to understand defense tactics.

I think so, at least according to the court docket. If their court days went standard hours M-Th each week we would be so much further along. It's so mismanaged IMO. I just hope it doesn't negatively impact the jury.

What was her complaint about the jury?

And once Chris Hughes called the defense attorney a liar and mentioned the forged letters I thought holy $hit! Didn't the judge rule those phony letters were admissable? So how would that testimony be allowed in?

Thanks, I guess that they are saying that Hughes was on the phone with prosecutors while watching the trial at home.

They were inadmissable for the purpose of JA's trial.

Today was a misconduct hearing without the jury present.

I missed Jodi's face when Hughes mention the letters and called Nurmi a liar.

Can one of our detail-oriented posters create a "Who's Who in the Jodi Arias Trial" document? I can't keep these people straight.
