And Sheriff Joe will probably let her. He was the one who put on that Christmas singing contest, filmed it, and released it to the media. That disgusted me. IMO, Sheriff Joe is a media 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬. I have not liked him for years, good thing I don't live in Arizona.

My ex-SIL was in his jail and on a chain gang. I really did not know her well and then my BIL divorced her but I would have loved to ask her questions about her time there.

I'm with you here. And I do live in AZ.

I'm sorry Frayed Knot. I know just how gut wrenching that story is. But also think it's very important that people view it if nothing else but for the solidarity with the family. The Bagby's live this nightmare every day. There is something about knowing this horrible series of events perpetrated by that horrific evil woman truly happened and the compassion that flows from that is the only thing that can be helpful to them (if that even makes sense).

I also think it's important for us viewing this trial to see, up close and personal through that film, just what a Jodi Arias is capable of if left loose in society. These two killers are birds of a feather imo. So many similarities (in the initial crimes).

I'm afraid to watch---I have two young ones and it's hard for me to go there. Maybe I'll get my courage up this weekend.

katiecoolady, what did the body language expert you saw today say about JA's stretching routine during interrogation. I missed it and was curious.

A couple of questions I'd like to hear Juan Martinez ask Alyce LaViolette, the expert witne$$ on domestic violence:

1. In your expert opinion, do you find that stalking behavior occurs more often in abusers or abusees?

2. Do you believe that Jodi Arias had no alternative to violence that day when she stabbed unarmed and naked Travis Alexander 29 times, nearly decaptitated him and shot him in the face? Do you want this jury to believe that this was her only alternative in that situation? Is this something you would teach in your Seminar?

I very much agree that Shirley and Jodi seem much the same.

The phone calls Shirley made to the Bagby's talking about sending them pics of her and Zachary together as if they were her adoring in laws. She just did not get how bat ***** crazy she was even though everybody else saw it plainly.

Jodi appears to be JUST like that.

Casey is just not the same, she is a different kind of crazy. She seems more aware of appearances.

I really would love to meet the Bagbys and hug them both. :(

I can not believe I am about to say this .... but... At least Casey wiped her eyes and made it look more like she was crying. Jodi needs some coaching... EYES JODI! WIPE YOUR EYES!!

I know everyone is different. Some women cry pretty, for example.

Not me. I get blotchy, with swollen eyes and lips and snot bubbles.

I'd actually have more respect (meh) for them both if they dropped the pretense of crying.

It was really really interesting. I saw it so quickly before work and am gonna go back and rewatch it. Janine Driver...one thing I remembered she pointed out was as Jodi was denying killing Travis, her head was nodding "yes". She also pointed out some of Jodi's hand expressions like a broad sweeping motion and she likened it to a magician who's doing a slight of hand routine.

I'll rewatch and share more. You can friend her on Facebook...that's where I follow her. I like her! But I dig that stuff.

IS posted: There could a be a lot of developments in the Jodi Arias case next week.

I'll take the bait!! Ohhh I can't wait to get back in the court room!! I'd be a nut case if I didnt have WS to talk about the case! Thanks to all of you!!!

I definitely think she appears to have recently engaged in anal sex from those pics. I know a lot of people will disagree, but heterosexual couples do engage in anal sex and it's not really deviant. I guess it depends on your definition, lol!

Oh! Speaking of which, the darkness around her perineum and vulva/labia? It is actually quite common in women with darker or olive skin tones. Latin, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean.

Isn't Jodi half Mexican? And she does have olive-toned skin. Maybe that's the explanation for the darkness.

As for the odd composition.......

I love the "Evening Crowd" (myself included) in this forum LOL!

Thinking back to the "shark week" photos, it is highly probable that JA is the sexual deviant in which case you would be so right!

What is a "shark week" photo(s)?

I hate being new to a case...I don't get all the references. I pick up quick, though! Thanks!

ETA: Searched through the thread and I figured it out LOL

You mean they didn't say she was "bending over backwards" to lie her way out? :what::what::what::what::what::what::what::what::what::what:

isk - but in session says they are going to broadcast it live

Thanks.

I looked up what evidentiary hearing means in Arizona and Im a little confused. Is this where Jodi has to convince the Judge that self defense should be an option to the jury?:waitasec:

Rule 32.8. Evidentiary hearing

a. Evidentiary Hearing. The defendant shall be entitled to a hearing to determine issues of material fact, with the right to be present and to subpoena witnesses. If facilities are available, the court may, in its discretion, order the hearing to be held at the place where the defendant is confined, giving at least 15 days notice to the officer in charge of the confinement facility. In superior court, the hearing shall be recorded.

b. Evidence. The rules of evidence applicable in criminal proceedings shall apply, except that the defendant may be called to testify at the hearing.

c. Burden of Proof. The defendant shall have the burden of proving the allegations of fact by a preponderance of the evidence. If a constitutional defect is proven, the state shall have the burden of proving that the defect was harmless beyond a reasonable doubt.

d. Decision. The court shall rule within 10 days after the hearing ends except in extraordinary circumstances where the volume of the evidence or the complexity of the issues require additional time. If the court finds in favor of the defendant, it shall enter an appropriate order with respect to the conviction, sentence or detention, any further proceedings, including a new trial and conditions of release, and other matters that may be necessary and proper. The court shall make specific findings of fact, and state expressly its conclusions of law relating to each issue presented.

e. Transcript. The court may, and shall upon request of a party within the time for filing a petition for review, order that a certified transcript of the evidentiary hearing be prepared. The preparation of the evidentiary hearing transcript shall be at county expense if the defendant is indigent.

he also commented on her shifting eyes, being in the fetal position and hiding behind her hair while she's making up her story, her choice of words, and playing with her pant leg to maintain control.

Often, hickies look like bruises. {I know what I'm talking about here:ashamed:}

Not me. I burned my neck with the curling iron.

  • #377
You are correct. I can't see anyone lying about anything in this particular case. :blushing: hehe

Well, that's something for the jury to decide.

However, it is very interesting to note that in the court minutes it was noted that when the investigators tried to interview Matt McCartney, he was not cooperative. He said he didn't want to be involved in any way and thus would lie to avoid being involved. They were unable to get much of anything from him. The defense then comes along, gets finances set up so they can travel to Cali to interview him and wala... they have a witness. jmo

I sent them a letter via the filmmaker and he wrote me back telling me they appreciated it. I just feel as human beings, and as a community of souls for lack of a better word, reaching out to them and offering comfort for as long as they live is a good thing to do.

I lifted a quote from that film and had a wall saying made out of it that says "I think God put some people on Earth just to be an example for the rest of us". I read that nearly every day and think of them.
