I FINALLY finished up the other thread, all happy and everything. Then, I click the link for this new thread and FIFTEEN PAGES? Really?

Okay, I can't wait any longer and I have got to ask now.

This email that is being discussed is between CH and TA? How did the defense get it? Was it from JA breaking into TA's account? If so, how can it be permissible in court if it was obtained illegally?

  • #362
I have to find the states document but basically they were able to say that a couple of the letters matched handwriting from JA's journal and some of the others were inconclusive. Also because they were copies the state argued that they could have been copied and pasted together.

Thanks. You're referring to the State's brief in support of its motion to exclude the letters, I assume?

This whole trial all we have heard about is the glorified PPL/Legal Shield. Have to say, it wasn't a very good advertisement for the operation, when today poor old Gus couldn't get legal representation when he most needed it. After all with his clout in the organization . If he can't get it, what could the average bloke expect?

I got the opposite of that, I thought it was Juan who objected to the first part of email being read....in seemed like Nurmi was straddled with only being able to have CH read his own response?

PA did not want the email to come into record but he said it was ok if CH read it to himself though. The DT didn't want to give CH TA's email to read for some reason.

I would imagine they subpoenaed the e-mail provider for it.

Ohyeah. Marlene Newell...I met her in person! lol I think it was that site who decided Jordy and I were in the Asian Mafia. :floorlaugh: And selling our bodies on the street corners of Redwood City to afford our trips there. What a compliment!:what:

How in the WORLD did I forget you met Marlene? Now that she's been mentioned, I recall her sitting up on one of those tall chairs outside the courthouse, being interviewed by one of the talking heads. Her little legs just dangled there! :floorlaugh: (I'm not laughing AT her, I'm laughing WITH her. If I sat in one of those chairs, my legs would dangle, too!)

Me-->:fence::fence:<--Marlene

What did people think of the prosecutor today? I'm glad he's tough, but I'm hoping he is not alienating the jury...

Change your settings. I have mine set for 100 posts/page, so I only have 4 pages on this thread so far.

Are you referring to the outdoor skee ball game? The one with three holes?

If so ;) HA

It looked a little like "Cornhole."

hahahaha!

Well done, LPP!

Magpie - had to comment on your signature line and tell you that we took in a shelter dog this past summer. And he's a TRUE shelter pet. Came into the shelter with his siblings (litter of nine), and they were in terrible shape. He's happy, healthy and coming along with his integration into our household.

It wasn't an easy journey, these dogs pretty well run wild on the aboriginal reserves in the northern areas of my province (I'm in Canada), so they are wild by nature. Lots of love and patience and he will be a welcome addition to our family

Thank you PrincessSezMe. :) And thank you for adopting a shelter pet!

I'm a true animal lover and when I heard about what Jody did - kicking a dog in the head and also what she did to the poor cat by putting it in a room with "plenty of food and water" for 2 WEEKS, well I was just sick. I have 3 cats so it really hit me hard when the lady who called Nancy Grace about the cat abuse said that the 6 yr old cat (Jody was babysitting the beloved pet) was shaking badly and Jody didn't understand what was wrong with it... *sigh* I just reached down and petted my pampered 2 yr old Blondie cat and cried. If somebody treated Blondie like that I might be the one in jail. Seriously, to desocialize (sp?) an animal like that and expect any different outcome only lends to the idea that the abuser is a sociopath IMO.

Y'all are making me dizzy lol. I wish we could have a day summary of what happened (in the courtroom). I feel like Winnie the Pooh without honey, all crazy.

No, if you look at the video again, you will see that CH asks for the first e-mail from TA.

DA directs him to the third page.

CH asks for the first e-mail again.

PA objects, and asks for the e-mail (still on TA's e-mail).

DA says that (not verbatim) "First the prosecutor wants it excluded, now he wants it included".

Prosecutor says that he can read it; that's different.

DA says that the e-mail is on page one of six.

Based on what I heard/watched, I think that's exactly what happened. And Chris was looking for more of the thread history to put that exchange in "context." Nurmi definitely said that Martinez objected to the Travis part of the e-mail (obviously when they approached), yet a minute later insisted that it be read.

I'm glad he's tough! Gus Searcy is a slime bucket and a hostile witness, how else would you treat him? Plus the prosecutor convicted Wendy Andriano and got her sent to Death Row, I have full confidence in him!

to be honest... I'm still giggling over that :D I actually feel bad about laughing when this is a trial, and TA was brutally murdered. But it was HIGHLY ironic after all we had to listen to this morning.

After all we've learned about the efficacy of the PrePaid Legal plans, I sure am glad I didn't get invested in PrePaid Funeral Plans! Can you imagined how pizzed off I'd be if I died and expected a nice funeral; only to find out on the last day that I'd have to settle for a dinged up model and a lousy spot next to the parking lot?! :furious:

I'm saying the same thing you are except you are way more articulate:)

I've seen it as defense attorney on here, or within these threads. It confused me at first, as well... But I guess it makes sense.

My impression is that it was decided by the judge, I don't think it had anything to do with whether the Defense wanted them too or not. JMO Right before he was given the email to read, the attornies had approached, I believe to discuss the emails. JMO
