The Jury questions sound to me like the self-defense strategy is already dead in the water. They are not buying the "Travis is evil" argument.

I don't know the qualifications for being DP certified so that doesn't really help.

do you think he is too harsh on the witnesses???
I thought Juan was very respectful to Lisa. She was a doll, how couldn't you be??

Ok , this is ONLY a thought. But I did think Juan got kind of loud with Lisa yesterday. It was only after that I realized why he may have done that. I believe he got louder during the parts do the cross examination which could be embarrassing to Lisa.......I think he was trying to draw the attention to himself and away from this wonderful young woman caught in a very embarrassing and upsetting situation having to answer questions like that. She is really a class act! And he is awesome!

He may notice that the jury goes into a trance when the DT is talking. I know most of us here do. It's hard to pay attention when they are asking some of the same questions over and over like yesterday. Heck, I could have answered when the break ups between Lisa and Travis were because it was asked numerous times.

I find that when Martinez is talking he gets to the point and I am paying attention because I know there will be a point. He needs to take control of the courtroom and have the jury paying attention instead of making their grocery list.

Could they really call that many witnesses? Or is that projection factoring for time for the jury to deliberate?

Maybe and how long can closing arguments take? Don't courts have a time limit on each side's length of time used for closing arguments? Otherwise we could be in for a filibuster of okays from Attorney Nurmi.

Tulessa, what is your opinion of this prosecutor? Having had to deal with this type of situation yourself recently do you think he is too harsh on the witnesses???

I really like him LC. He's not going to stand for Travis's name being trashed. I like how he is handling the witnesses. He was gentle with Lisa. After seeing that, I had no worries.

You did, and like a dummy I ignored it and looked anyway.

Curiosity got the best of me too

Good Morning!

I'm getting ready to head down to the courthouse...thanks for all the support and nice messages guys.

I'll be wearing all black today. I will definitely be sitting on the side of Travis' family. I'll post a quick note when I get in there telling you just where I am.

I did write a card for the family and want to share this line:

I am also carrying the love and prayers and support from hundreds of posters on the Websleuths forum who are following the trial in solidarity with your family.

I think today will be a big court day. I can only be there in the morning so be updating a small bit from my iphone then catch up with you all later tonite.

The only one's shocked seeing the picture were Travis' family. They did not know the photo was coming and were not prepared. Defense knew it was there, it was lying on the desk out in the open while JM was asking Lisa his final questions. You can see the picture in the replay videos. What upset defense was the reaction from the family and their fear it would cause some juror to be sympathetic with the family and color their opinion during deliberations. I think it is way too late for that. That picture was already in evidence and seen by the jury.

The juror's can see Travis' family suffering just by looking at them during the whole court procedure. In contrast they can also see how Jodi's family thinks some of the witness testimonys are something to be laughed about. Lisa did not react in a negative way because she knew what was coming and she knew it was not personal. jmo

BBM - From my view and review of that scene: The shocking photo was actually hidden underneath another photo which was on Juan's table and visible. After Juan picked up the photos, he removed the top photo and placed it back on the table and then proceeded to display the shocking photo. Therefore, the DT did not know in advance that the shocking photo was going to be displayed.

Trying to sway public opinion, and apparently successfully from some of the comments here.

Thanks - Very good point.
BUT, not successfully influencing this commenter!

I am very worried about some professional challenging the non-authenticity of these said "letters".
(Have since read posts by gitana1 and others, and now understand about the letters. Thanks so much posters for such great information!)

Thanks for your insights. I went to the prelims for the Andrea Sniederman case here in Atlanta, and know what you mean about the atmosphere when you walk in. My overwhelming feeling when I was there, sitting next to a friend of HERS actually, that I was inserting myself into something private. I felt the overwhelming pain for EVERYONE in that courtroom who had been affected by her involvement with Hemy killing Rusty.

And get ready for when that trial starts! (There is a thread here at WS for her) If you haven't seen Andrea Sniederman, put it on your calendar as there were some fireworks when she was on the stand during her co-conspirators trial (Hemy Neuman trial...who was convicted). It was UNBELIEVABLE!!!

Are you in the Dunwoody Drinking Club group who follows this trial? I'm on their Facebook page (I'll send you info if you're not as they have tons of updated info about that trial...yes Andrea Sneiderman, what a piece of work!). Wow, talk about courtroom drama with HER.

I think, too, that JM was trying emphasize that the defense was reading line for line of Lisa's email and not really asking her what she meant just leading the jury to believe the worst. JM clarified what she meant rather than reading the email and asking questions just on face value. As we have learned here what is written can easily be mistaken or misunderstood by the reader. All JM did was clarify for the jury what Lisa really meant.

How many times have we read something and said to ourselves, "What does that mean?" All JM did was turn on the light. jmo

The jury question regarding the texting and phone calls, as well as clarifying whether the witness considered her a stalker, convince me that the jury is going to hang a big stalker label around the defendant's coiffed head.

Sadly this case makes me worry even more for my great nephew. He is 19 but got his first sexual experience with a gal (18)that then became his girlfriend and pregnant. He thought he was in love and is totally in love with their baby. He married her with a very short wedding plan. 2 weeks notice on HER prom night. Then she became enraged that her friends chose to go to the prom instead of her wedding.
Mother's day was a disaster because she said the day was about HER and didn't want to go see either her own mother or his mother. Anyway they broke up after 3 weeks of marriage after she pushed him down a flight of stairs. She then called the Police and they showed up at his Mother's house and luckily his Mother had taken pictures and documented the abuse. She hacked his Facebook. She constantly was calling him when they were together demanding to know where he was and why he wasn't home, even if he was here visiting with us. My Hubby thought it so bizarre too!

It was then 3 months before we were able to see the baby again. I know she takes meds and sees a psychiatrist. She claims she met the love of her life 4 years ago, a woman from another state. They dated, broke up, etc. This woman moved in with her right after my Gr Nephew moved out. I heard he filed a restraining order against her yesterday. And until he files for divorce he can't have visitation right ordered. But yet he is ordered to pay child support.....which I believe is right.

I've never met anyone like this gal and she won't even look me in the eye when we were talking. I've chosen to not have anything to do with anymore her but feel so bad for my gr nephew, his mother, and my sister (the great grandmother). This is the first case that has reminded me of what possible dangers he could be in. Abuse does happen to MEN. Physical and mental. He's embarrassed to open up about it. Lord only know the other stories we haven't heard yet. :please:
