can JA plea guilty to first degree murder to avoid the death penalty?

Maybe they are conferencing about Jodi taking the stand. Maybe the lawyers want to make a record of their advice against testifying and requesting that the judge give appropriate warnings about her right not to testify.

Wishful thinking probably ...

the alcohol level was caused by the decomp - he didn't ingest any

Have to agree. Even diabetics (such as myself) have high sugar alcohol levels and a fruity breath. I bet if you tested me now it would be over 1%. I certainly don't know if Travis was a diabetic, but the body produces odd levels -- especially during decomp.

If you were JA, and I know none of us would even dream about being her, but if you were in her shoes, would the jury questions (so far) make you feel like you needed to testify?

Obviously JA will go over this with her DT, but if it was me I would be thinking "If they're not buying what my witnesses are testifying maybe they'll buy it from me."

I don't think there's been any evidence to indicate he had a straight razor. There was some speculation about one because it came up somewhere that he "shaved the old-fashioned way", but this could just be referring to a non-electric razor.

Sorry. I thought it had been established that he used a shaving cup, brush and straight razor.

I think I recall hearing mention of a brush. Now I'll have to comb my synapses for a reference...

NO WAY would JM offer that to her.

I think she may be asking for it. If I were the prosecutor I'd take that. Why waste time on a trial where it's likely the jury may not put her to death anyway?

I'm sure this has been covered a thousand times, sorry. I've been insanely busy and just getting around to WS for this trial.

Has TA's straight razor been ruled out as the slicing weapon?

The stab wounds wouldnt make these kind of stab patterns and she wouldnt use two different knives. I dont think they ever discovered Travis had ever used a straight razor that I can recall.

The stab wounds were thick and pretty wide not thin like a straight razor.

Absolutely, her lawyers are gonna have a very tuff time keeping her off the stand. IMO

After seeing Juan would you want to take the stand?

A knife that will slash/stab a tire(s) is plenty good enough.

He was firm that he would have gone unconscious very quickly though. If it had been first he did say it would be a life threatening injury. I saw the photo and it made a perfect hole where it went into his brain.

He would not be able to be all up and down that hallway or being able to defend himself from some of the knife stabs.

IMO
Do you have any medical evidence to back this up, other than what the ME has said may have happened?

I've already given accounts here of people attempting to commit suicide via gun that only successfully damage their frontal lobe and subsequently have to fire a second shot to end their lives.

The frontal cortex is mainly responsible for emotions, impulses, and rationality. If he remained conscious, he probably would have been disoriented, not quite sure what was happening, and probably almost in a drugged state. I think that would explain the lack of defensive wounds.

As I've stated before, it seems likely that he was shot in the bathroom and the blood around the sink is from him either kneeling or standing over it, dazed. He probably stumbled around, where Arias met him in the hallway with the knife (and where the vast majority of blood was on the carpet). That is the only way I've been able to make the sequence of events fit together as we know them.

if you see the stab marks in his back and chest - the were made by something long and pointed - no way a razor could make stabs like that - imo

JA is a leftie. The camera is made to be operated with the right hand. The gun and/or knife would naturally be wielded in her left hand.

Yes, JA is a lefty - but I saw her in court yesterday writing with her right hand..... I would say she is able to use both just fine in anyway shape or form!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe she is taking the stand now?

I dont think Juan will accept a plea.

I really do think Juan has a slam dunk DP case here. I haven't seen it often -- even in the Westerfield and Peterson cases there was always a little wiggle room. In this case - tight as a sheet. I woudn't blame JM for never giving up his position. I would personally like to see her get it.

He may have used the first two to lather it up but no mention of a straight razor that I have seen.
