Court security said it's uncertain whether we will be going back into the courtroom before the end of the day.

Whatever is going on is clearly serious enough that it is sealed. I have seen this in cases where jurors have to be questioned one by one.

So how did it go this morning? Who testified and how did Juan do? And why such a lag to start again? Are they working out a deal? Because thus far, the defense is being schooled.

They have nothing thus far that remotely points to a self defense claim (at least from what I have seen and read so far which does not include today. nor the second female witness of yesterday, or Gus's direct exam).

IIRC he testified on cross, that he felt the shot was last, but either way both the shot and the throat cut came after the defensive wounds.

And do we remember why he said this? Because he said either of those wounds would make him unable to raise his arms or otherwise defend himself.

But let's go forward to the cross-examination. He was asked if it would be possible for Travis to hold his arms and head up after the throat wound, and the ME testified quiet emphatically that he would be able to.

So, I'm not really sure what to think.

I think they are censoring a lot; or have started to. Too many side bars too much in chambers and never on time. EVER.

Maybe Beth K's comments yesterday (as reported by KatieCool from the courtroom) about contacting the Station's Attorney about the Judge allowing so many breaks, delays and appoaching the bench it was "unconstitutional" or something to that effect.

You would think that if defense had someone who witnessed any abuse they would have been on the stand by now.

I can't believe they would make the jury wait this long unless she wants some type of a deal. jmo

According to VP the judge just called the attorney's into chambers. I wonder if Jodi is wiling to take a plea of life instead of the DP?

That's not the way things work. "Life" or the "DP" are sentences, which are doled out by the judge after the verdict from the jurors. Defendants plea to the charge, which would be first degree murder, second degree murder, manslaughter, etc. Pleading guilty to anything less than first degree murder would have avoided the possibility of the Death Penalty (DP). Jodi has apparently been trying to plead guilty to a lesser charge, but the DA has refused. If she was forthcoming and truthful with Det. Flores from the beginning of the investigation, she would not be facing the DP.
