The Talent show

  • #401
Yes, I don't think this has been confirmed through MSM. We do have Ms. Schreiber and Ms. Coghill saying Kyron was to be in the show, in the MSM, but this had nothing to do with the GJ and they certainly weren't under oath. Thought I'd missed something. :)

Looks like you are right.

I have been reading KOIN links...no luck.

How has this thread survived all this time under so many watchful eyes of good sleuthers?

It was *never* reported that the child testified to the GJ about the talent show.

It was reported that the child *appeared before* the GJ.

It was *also*, *additionally*, reported that the child's *mother* said (told the reporter) that her child told her that he was to be in the talent show with Kyron.

The mother ever said she didn't ask the child about his appearance before the GJ.

The blurb from the Koin story has been posted several times, as recently as yesterday.

I didn't know until today that anyone thought the child, and other witnesses, had testified about the talent show to the GJ.

GJ testimony is secret. We don't know what anyone testified, or even *if* they testified. Appearing before a GJ does not mean the person testified.

IMO what would the purpose be of a child going before the GJ to testify if Kyron was supposed to be in a talent show accomplish? IIRC it was never stated as to why that child was brought before the GJ. IMO the child was brought before the GJ as to something that he witnessed, the morning, that Terri and Kyron were a part of. What would Kyron's being schedueled for the talent show or not, have to do with him not ever making it to class in the morning?

BBM. I asked many pages ago why this parent saying Kyron was going to be in the talent show was any different from the other parents saying Kyron was going to be in the talent show.

From back on August 9:

Question. Previously we had reports in which parents said there was a talent show Kyron was supposed to be in. Now we have this... report in which a parent says there was a talent show Kyron was supposed to be in.

What's the difference?

TIA

ETA: Noting the thread title 'confirmed'

And the OP's explanation here:

Well, given that there was a thread previously debating the info re: the talent show and Kyrons part in it, if there was one, and the video with Kaine and Desiree stating they were uncertain about the talent show, and the presser where a question about the talent show was asked but LE had standard no comment answer, and that previously there had only been a comment form one other parent stating Kyron was to appear in the talent show, and...last but not least, the question of why if he was to perform, Terri did not show up for it.... I believe some people still had questions in their mind as to whether or not Kyron was to perform.
That's why I posted it, and that is why I think it was important. Others may not feel it matters, which is fine. I happen to think it is. I still had questions about the talent show until I saw this, now I feel confident he was supposed to take part.

There were no other responses to my question.

Now, help me out. If the child "appeared"...are you saying he did not speak?

I don't understand that?

Are you saying there is a valid link that the child "appeared" but gave no testimony? Why call him then?

Where is the link?

Dede appeared but did not speak, also. I doubt it was about the talent show, however.

If this child appeared, he testified.

He was not called to the Grand jury to just be seen and not heard.

But did anyone ever post a link to KOIN confirming this story?

Do you mean this child had a lawyer that advised him not to testify?

I'll need a link to understand that too if you are going to say his situation was comparable to DeDe's.

All we know about anyone who goes before a GJ in any case is that they "appear". It is secret. We don't know whether or not they testify, and if they do testify, we don't know what it was about. Again, it is secret.

This has been discussed throughout Kyron's forum (and others). I'd recommend going through the GJ threads and the Questions for Lawyers thread.

  • #410
I said nothing about his having a lawyer. I only stated that it is not unprecedented in this case to appear before the GJ and not testify. I do not have it under good authority to speak to whether Dede didn't testify because she had a lawyer. All's I know is that she didn't.

But I wonder. I wonder what it is about this talent show that seems so secretive. I wonder.

But if they are called, it's for investigative purposes. People (and children) are not called at random. They may decide to refuse to testify.

But how do we know this child was called? Why did KOIN post the blurb that began this thread? Did KOIN never follow through and elaborate?

I can't imagine a child called to testify before a grand jury, refusing to testify unless a lawyer advised him to do so. DeDe has been singled out by LE on fliers. There is information in the media that she was "missing" from her job.

You posted that perhaps this child would not speak...why not? What has he to fear, like Dede, with saying if Kyron was in the show? Not a valid comparison IMO.

I assure you that I am not the one who made the laws and rules about GJs. :)

Really, you'll find lots of info regarding this in the threads I recommended.

I believe the OP was posting something they saw on TV on the local news. Locals often do that for us in cases. That way we get the news quickly.

Yes, KOIN ran a news article and a video.

A good way to find info about something is to determine the approx date, and then go through the Today's News thread, which are archived in the Reference Forum.

KOIN is a problem right now, because they have removed a number of articles, however, if you can find a sentence or paragraph from a news article, you can use the less commonly used words as keywords to search WS as well as Google to grab further info.

I only posted about a possibility that he did not speak. Since GJ testimony is secret, we'll never know. What we CAN know, empirically, is that this child appeared. That is all.

We only know that Dede did not testify because her attorney told us so. That also doesn't imply anything about the child, other than as I stated before, to serve as a precedent that someone COULD appear at the GJ and NOT testify.

Thanks BeanE.

That does go to the point that posting with links is essential.

So are we allowed to assume that the premise for this thread is valid? If so, we can continue to debate from our original perspectives. :Banane12:

It's not necessarily that the person refuses. It can be that the DA decides not to have the person testify after all.

We could come up with a million reasons why someone would appear, but not testify, but bottom line is, whether we like it not, we don't know if those who appear actually testify, and if they do testify, we don't know what they testify about.

If we are allowed to credit the OP's link, then he testified that Kyron WAS supposed to be in the show.

Very good.

Yeppers. As the source...er... I mean BeanE stated. ;)

When I was posting about why maybe the little guy was testifying I was purely and completely speculating/giving my opinion. Just posting what could have been asked if he was questioned about the talent show. Just wanted to make myself clear there. We don't know what in the heck he testified about. Or even if he testified. And we shouldn't know, as proceedings are secret.

Unless their lawyer or Mother informs the media. Which is how this thread began.

Okay!

Except there's an assumption of testimony in that article to a secret grand jury, a presupposition I would not be comfortable making, but shouldn't dream of telling someone else what to assume.
