The type of phone you buy your kids

We had a situation like that in my city. A man was going to a grocery store(without a list, cart or anything to groceries in)and was attempting to "position" himself beside parents of little girls.

But his activity was "suspicious" for the store employess, he was caught on camera, the picture was shown on every news cast, pareents were warned and the man turned himself into Police to face serious charges.

So this did make parents more aware of who was beside them, "strange" people, etc.....

Coaches are pedophiles too. I stay with my kids during practice. :blowkiss:
I did too. I was lucky because being a teacher, I had that luxury. Most moms working a 9-5 job don't. So, I don't think it is possible for most parents to always be there.

This was a few years ago - maybe things have changed some. My niece wasn't using her's - just had it with her - and they took it away.
Same thing here in our district. Children are not allowed to bring them on campus.

My girls don't have cell phones- I made it to the ripe old age of 27 before I got my first cell and I think they can live without one. I don't really worry about it because all of their friends have them so if they're somehwere I'm not (which is rare) they'll borrow a phone to call.

My daughter did not get one until she started driving. I wanted her to have one in case she was in an accident. My son did not have one until he left for college. He still didn't want one then. I insisted because I would feel better if I could contact him when I was worried about him. :o He is my baby. By the way guys...he is over six foot tall and weighs almost 200 lbs. :blowkiss: But........he is still a baby.

Deandaniellws-
I have a big boy like that too- my 16 year old- and I agree, having my kids carry cell phones is for my piece of mind. I also want him to be able to call me easily since he is out with friends that are driving. Have you tried using a pay phone recently? I think they're deregulated in my area...some charge as much as $1.25 to make a call! THEN...you, of course have to have that much in change...

True, but there are always other parents that, if asked, will be happy to look after a couple more. When I was at home, I always had more than just my kids to watch out for and have asked other moms that I knew and trusted to keep their eye on mine.

Judging from my cell phone bill, my kids have some friends who do that too.
:( My kids have had to learn to say no to their friends' using their phone repeatedly in non-emergencies. Sorry, but it adds up and it's expensive!
