The Wall of Hope - New location!

  • #61
I thought this would be interesting for any locals

Later in the day, Desiree Young announced the new location for Kyron's Wall of Hope: the Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue station at 11646 NW Skyline Blvd.

Moving day will be Sunday, starting at 8:30 a.m.

"We would really appreciate a little help in taking the Wall down because we will be relocating the entire section of fence as a whole piece to keep the integrity of the Wall of Hope in place,"
wrote Young.

Free, are you planning to help? I was thinking about it but I have to double-check my Sunday morning commitments.

I am..
I'm wondering how they will do this, and if they will be putting a shelter up over it??
How they will locate it so that vehicles parking to visit do not block the driveway area so the fire trucks can get out etc....

I would LOVE to find out more info (such as do they need people with trucks, trailers, equipment, etc.. to move the fence) as I will have the DBF help with the heavy stuff =)
If anybody does find out plz post! =)

All I can contribute is my weakly manpower (I'm (very) small but mighty, also a redhead (don't shoot)), but I will be there if I can! I agree, I wish there was more info on what they need. Maybe the FD has volunteered vehicles or something?

I contacted a local news station, they are going to forward the question to Kaine regarding more information..

Free, is this the place where SAR gathered that you took me to?

I am not uncaring about this situation, however since it has to be taken down for school, I don't think it should be replaced. It was helpful for people in the first few months because this case has been so emotional. I'm not saying to take away people's hope just do something different.

Sadly sometimes things cannot go on indefinitely. Things left outside for long periods of time are going to be ruined, turn into litter and become an eye sore and possibly a liability for anyone hosting the wall.

Perhaps a tree, that blossoms red ( Kyron's favorite color) with a plaque. Or perhaps a statue of an angel and call it an angel of hope ( plant red flowers below it ). Encourage people to donate toys or a monetary gift to a Hospital for Sick Children in Kyron's name.

This case could remain unsolved and Kyron could end up being just one of many children that are never found. Sadly this could be the reality. jmo

fantastic idea !

Awesome, please post when you hear back! I often hang out with my niece on Sundays, so I'm hoping other arrangements can be made :-)

No, TVF&R is closer to Cornelius Pass Rd.. You go by that, then a private residence, then the school. =)

Do you think they're planning to walk it down there?

I've had many thoughts about the Wall of Hope... Just in MOO...if you want to move that specifically...move it to where Kyron loved the best...his OWN home.. I do not know Portland or any other child dissapearances there...but if you did for one you must do for all...having said that...adopt a highway, plant trees, something that says to all the children missing in Oregon (Portland or Not) we are thinking of you and will plant that seed until we find you....

I don't know, I'm imagining the easiest way would be just to remove the chain link "fence" part and transport it down the road but I'd think they will need help
with putting posts in at the new location??

And I'm very curious about what kind of shelter they plan on..

Last night I took some pictures and the DBF commented on the fact that this seems to be the longest period of time (since the fence started growing) that it has not rained here...

One of the pictures is from the view of the front doors of the School so you can see how long it stretches out..

I love your pictures! I finally visited the Wall on Wednesday, and was amazed by how big it is and also the proximity to the playground. I had never noticed before that the playground was right there. It definitely made the situation more real for me.

It hasn't rained in a long time, but I think we're supposed to get some on Sunday night or Monday.

As it's called the "Wall of Hope", for those who aren't local, contribute school supplies to a needy child in Kyron's name. That "Wall of Hope" could impact the world in ways we cannot imagine, possibly a child growing up to be president, someone curing cancer, someone fighting domestic violence, the possibilities are endless.

That is a WONDERFUL idea!!
I love it!

There's a small possibility I will be there....checking to see if I can swing it.

I watched the local news last night.. they said details were still being worked out (as far as how they are going to move the wall)

I'll be there solo, the DBF has to work...

But I can lift, use tools, whatever they need =)
((I just don't want to be on camera if media is there..))

KATU just reported that the Wall of Hope (the cyclone section) will be carried down the street to TVF&R..

So I would suggest bringing work gloves if you come as I'm not sure if they will supply any..
(we will try to bring some extra ones just in case)
