This will be short, my theory solves not only the Cleveland Torso Killer case but also The Black Dahlia case. It goes like this: since Sweeney never was put in custody, he hid out in another (very far away) state (California) he thus went to Hollywood and then killed The Black Dahlia with his signature method of dismemberment, he also has the surgical precision needed for both killings. Both killers also placed their victims' bodies. The Torso killer was getting more and more reckless as time went on, so it would make sense that he could drop the body in a garden. Keep in mind that most people believe that Sweeney is the killer, he just didn't get convicted due to Ness doing things unlawfully. Sweeney also failed two lie detectors, so now that we know that he did it, he runs off to California to avoid the hate mobs in the 40s, and what do you know! The Torso killings ended in the late 30s! It will also be good to mention that Short was frequently in and out of jobs. She may have become desperate and became a prostitute or maybe become a vagrant, The Torso Killer's main victims. The Black Dahlia's murderer also mocked the police as Sweeney did. Sweeney usually drugged his victims to kill them, he may have drugged Short in the hotel she was at and then killed her there or took her someplace else.

Then again, many believe Dr. George Hodel to be The Black Dahlia murderer, he does look somewhat similar to Sweeney. They also had a description of a man who people believed to be Hodel; however they never got a warrant to interview him and I cannot see the description given.

Supposedly, Hodel fits the profile of the murderer and as you will come to see, Hodel and Sweeney shares many similarities. They were both doctors, they were both “well-connected”, “dashing” and had a high IQ. Both had their victims have something to do with their sexual lives. Both had an office where they would learn about each person. Even though a handwriting expert says it was Hodel writing those letters, he was possibly influenced by Steve Hodel (his son) who was giving him the theory.

Hodel supposedly fled to the Philippines after the killings, possibly after the hate. Maybe that is when Sweeney went back to Ohio since things calmed down. Perhaps he also went to the Philippines to frame Hodel of murder and get a target off of his back with another killing. Another thing that also may have happened about three weeks after Short was that he framed Hodel for another murder in Hollywood. If Sweeney was a doctor, he would probably have a high IQ so he would have the brains to frame a mad for murder perfectly.

Overall, I believe that I may have put together a theory to put two cold cases to rest after so many years! It may have some holes but I think that as the times line up, the descriptions line up, the living conditions for the victims’ line up, the experiences of each suspect line up (giving people reason to accidentally confuse the two). They both also have the title of “monster” on them from everybody that knows him. Sweeney for his suspicious behavior and Hodel for his suspicious behavior and (I know these next few words may make you sick to your stomach but it is important to put in this) his charges of an incestuous relationship with his fifteen-year-old daughter.

Ok I believe this and came to the same conclusion. I was watching a documentary on the torso murders and when they said that the police received a letter after the murders stopped saying “You can relax I have gone to California.” I immediately thought, ah hah, the Black Dahlia. I had to see if anyone else thought the same thing.

dismemberment is not the same as bisection.
Killer in Kingsbury Run, beheaded and castrated victims, then hid them.
The cases are similar only if you consider the amount of damage to the bodies are equally horrifying.
The Black Dahlia Avenger, displayed the body in public and scrubbed the body so it was like a fallen alabaster statue left in a vacant parcel in a white middle class suburb.
