Thoughts on Daylight Saving Time...

Already dreading it. My schedule is so crazy next month, and I really don't want to have it so dark in the mornings. And here, it stays light until past 10 pm in the summer.

I just wish one of the many bills that have been introduced to abolish DST would make it through.

I think I'm in the minority here, but I love turning the clocks ahead in the spring. I live in the northeast, and I suffer from pretty vicious SAD, so the time change bringing light back into my evenings is a big part of escaping those dark, sad feelings for a few months a year. I might feel different if I were a morning person.

As a parent with two kids, having to suddenly get those kids up out of bed an hour "earlier" for school at precisely the same time of year when they are getting tired of school, is a real chore. I like the extra light in the evening as well, but I would just MUCH rather keep the time the same and let the changing of the seasons happen without the messing with the clock.

My daughter has graduated so I'm done with that chapter, but oh I remember those days. She didn't wanna get up for school no matter what the month or "time" lol. I'd love to keep the time the same myself, just not the one where it's dark by 5pm.

I think a better plan is that we keep one time, and just let businesses etc know, they are free to change their hours of operation as they see fit. My law firm has some different hours in the summer. If the time change stopped, we would likely look into changing hours as well depending upon how people responded.

One time one time one time. This one this one this one. As Spring and Summer progress so will the hours of daylight lengthen, no matter what we call the clock. My biorhythm seems to do much better on standard time. Let's stay here please.

Please Don,t change it. We fall back in the fall and spring ahead in the spring. Some in the south are not happy and some in the north want the morning sun. With the vast silent majority okay with the way it is.

I would agree excerpt that I hate to see kids waiting for the bus or walking to school in darkness.

For that reason I prefer staying on Standard time permanently.

All winter, it’s dark in the mornings til almost 7 am. Then it’s dark in the evening at 5 pm.
At least with DST we have more light in the evening. I’m not a morning person , but my husband gets up early, and I’m like , dang, it’s still night time. I’ll get up when I see some light outside, lol.

But you are an adult and can adjust. I don't like kids going to school when its dark.
Regardless, it seems 95% are in favor of ending the time change.

End the time change! Leave it on Standard time so it won’t be so dark when kids walk to school or wait at bus stops.

Washington — President Donald Trump on Friday urged Congress to “push hard for more Daylight at the end of a day” in his latest dig at the semiannual changing of clocks.

Trump, in a post on his Truth Social media network, said it would be “Very popular and, most importantly, no more changing of the clocks, a big inconvenience and, for our government, A VERY COSTLY EVENT!!!”

The Republican president’s position calling for more daylight would push the schedule forward, keeping the country on daylight saving time...

I'd be fine with this. Doesn't matter to me whether we're on Standard or Daylight time. Just stop the back and forth once and for all!

This time change is confusing our animals, our cat is used to treats when it gets dark. But, now, it is light here until past 8. So, she looks around for treats at 430ish, but Daddeh tells her, "No treats, until it gets dark". So she wanderers around like a lost soul.

She seems so confused.
