Thousands flee Calif. wildfires; naval base threatened

There is a 50/50 % chance of rain today. I can feel it when I go outside, the humidity. So I think that might put an end to the fire danger for now. I hope so.

The fire was 5 miles away from our house at the South end of the flames. But it was only 2 miles away from my son's house, where the fire initially began. So we were all a bit worried about the wind direction.

I have stayed inside with the windows closed. But I have to go out now and will be near the fire, or where it was. Hopefully it has cleared up somewhat. I am extremely allergic to smoke.

It rained here all day, off and on. The fire is pretty well under control now. Earlier tonight they said it was 70% contained and there are no evacuations and no homes in danger.

How do these fires start? It seems like every year this takes place I am glad it is contained now.
