I watched 48 hrs Mystery last nite and they presented a murder case about a college professor Tom Murray who's wife (Carmin) was murdered in Kansas Nov 2003. They had a daughter who was almost 5 at the time.
I thought of Michelle the entire time.
Murray talked to LE for 10 hrs (I think) and he talked his way out of everything. He had small cuts on his hands and bruises on his wrists. In the end they didn't have much against him - only a lot of talk. Didn't find the bloody clothing and never found the murder weapon.
Carmin had left Murray and lived in Lawrence, Kan, 1.5 hrs away from him in Manhattan, Kan. On the day of the murder, Murray was seen at 8:30am when he dropped his daughter off at the babysitters and again around noon when he got her back.
11 months after the murder, the pros decided to take a chance on the CE, however after that decision the DA was voted out of office and the new young DA had never tried a murder case before.

In Kansas, however, the victims are allowed to hire a special prosecutor to help the DA so they did that.
Prosecution was able to show that Murray could drive from his home in Manhattan to Lawrence, have plenty of time to kill Carmin and return home.
There was no DNA found at the scene and this was a brutal stabbing & attempted strangulation. A struggle. The pros showed motive was a previous blow-up at a mediation meeting about custody.
Most powerful forensic evidence was on Murray's computer. Yahoo searchs for "murder for hire" "how to hire an assassin", "how to make a bomb" and "how to murder someone and not get caught". Murray explained that by saying he was thinking about writing a script for CSI. He also sent emails which showed his anger with Carmin - "I'm increasingly coming to feel like an animal that's een backed into a corner."
Defense argued there was a mystery bloodstain on Carmin's sink that suggested someone else was a Carmin's house. Pros attacked def expert saying he didn't have any certification in the area of bloodstain analysis.
Murray was found guilty of 1st deg murder.

After seeing this, I believe that the Pros will eventually try jason young. I think if there was anything on jy's computer he would have been charged by now. I think he probably went to the library to do his searching.
I'm wondering what he said to Michelle Money in his emails and I'm wondering what Michelle Young said to her therapist. I'm curious about any marks jason had when he had to submit to the NTO. Of course that was about 5 days after the murder so who knows if he'd healed.
Anyways...this guy Murray only had 3.5 hrs to drive to his wife, commit the murder and get back home. The drive itself was 3 hrs. jason had the whole nite.
