Tiger Woods finally speaks: 'I am deeply sorry'

your right there are far more important things that need to be adressed other then this.

I don't give a spit about Tiger Woods or any other philandering celebrity, but I do wonder if someone who so easily betrays his loved ones by cheating would be willing to cheat on the course (or the field, or wherever, depending on the philanderer).

exactly how do you cheat in golf lol

does he pick up the ball and place it closer when no ones looking

This shows you how much I know about sports! LOL

I don't know...don't they move the ball somehow? There is a line in The Great Gatsby where the golf player Jordan says that she was accused of cheating by a caddy who saw her move the ball. Of course, that book takes place in the 1920s, when there weren't cameras everywhere...

lol i remmeeber 15 years or so ago this local tv station used to have a weekly golf tips portion of the show
so our hero, the repoter, had his ball hit on the green, but it landed next to a tree branch. so the expert with him says 'if you pick up the branch, by rule that's a penalty stroke, so the reporter waited for the expert to turn his back, picked up the branch, and then putted lol

See ... that's how I see it too. We, as a country, are not holding those who are in positions of running our country, ministering our churches, being role models for our children, responsible.

Those who are in those positions, should be able to have control in their personal life, as well as their public/work life. When they don't .. we excuse them. We say that we're all human and make mistakes. While that is true, WE are not in the positions they hold.

I'm not sure we'll EVER hold them responsible as we should ... but if we did, and stuck to it, others that follow them, would think twice about how they live their personal life.

JMO of course.

The point I was trying to make, kbl, is that he betrayed his family. He didn't betray us. I only used your post as a lead in to my thoughts and wasn't addressing only you. The fact that this can't remain a private family matter is what I feel is disprespectful to his wife and kids. I also acknowledged that he made terribly damaging choices that he should be held responsible for. I just don't feel his shortcomings need to clog up the airways when there are much more important and heartbreaking things going on in the world.

BBM

that's an opinion open to debate...all things Tiger have been carefully crafted and projected as him being a perfect pillar of all things human, from which he reaps massive reward, and so yes, in many peoples opinions he did betray people other than his wife by being a skeezball.

It's interesting that you say this because Mr. Mr. E and I were having a similar discussion one day, and he said that people in power are in that position BECAUSE they have the type of personality that would go right along with someone who cheated on his wife. For example, a person who is a potiitician would have to have a tremendous ego and be very sure of himself (i.e. cocky) to be really successful, so it follows that his personality type would be the kind that would cheat in his personal life, too. We had this discussion after the Mark Sanford debacle, I think. The idea was that us "regular joes," who are hard-working and honest, don't have what it takes to be famous or politically successful. Just our discussion/opinions, of course.

i remember when kobe was up on the bogus rape charges and he had the press confrence apologizing to his wife for cheating on her.

chales barkley said afterward 'now kobe can be president!!"

Part of his speech today was him denying reports (maybe from his girlfriends) that he used performance enhancing drugs. It wouldn't surprise me if he did, and even if he did, would the PGA care? They'd lose their meal ticket for a couple of years.

does viagra count as performance enhancing? well i mean it does....but not neccesserily in sports ;)

What did you all think of him saying that Elin never hit him ... and all of the talk of her doing such a thing, was all false? Also ... that there was never any domestic abuse.

considering his sponsors pay him millions upon millions of dollars, i think he owes quite a bit to them, starting with abiding by the morality clause that is no doubt part of the contract. i don't fault his sponsors for dropping him, they don't owe him anything. i do agree that it's time to let them have some privacy. (as i comment on the story...lol) i don't think Tiger has learned a thing regarding not being able to have absolute total control of everything that is said, done around him re: PR. he just doesn't "get it" .... IMO only, of course.

They didn't sponsor him because of his morality though. They sponsored him because he was the most marketable man on the planet. They sponsored him to make themselves money. He made them money, screwed up and they dropped him like hot cakes, which is perfectly understandable, but for them to say this has anything to do with morals is pure calling the kettle black. The man made them money and that was all they were in in for. After this crap went down, his face was not as valuable as it was so now they will move on to the next face who will make them millions. This sponsor related stuff all comes down to the almighty dollar. It is business as usual and morals play no part...IMHO Like I said earlier, maybe some of these huge named sponsors should take a break from the millionaires and get behind the hard working man who is desperately just trying to pay his bills and feed his family every month. Then and only then will I ever see anything "moral" about sponsorships.

I WAS a fan of Tiger Woods. Not now, and I do not apologize for my opinion. I think he is FOS. Gloria Allred (sp.) and her 🤬🤬🤬🤬 star client is FOS also.

My thoughts and prayers are with his wife and children. Tiger had it all - the American dream. Great golfer, beautiful wife and children, all the money he would ever need, and loyal fans who wished him well. He blew it, or at least blew it with me.

His statement today was not enough.

JMO

This was a new event that was newsworthy enough for all 3 networks to break in and cover it. The other thread got moved because it was getting a bit out of hand, to say the least. (That's why threads go to the PL.)

disrespectful to his wife and kids?

im not the one who betrrayed them.
No, it was TIGER who was disrespectful to his wife and kids.

You, kbl, are free to go to sleep tonight with a clear conscience. Unless, there's something you're not telling us? :waitasec: (lol!)

Tiger referencing his faith and how he had fallen away from his Buddhism, and hopes to get back on track with it, caught me a bit off guard. He had never spoken of that, before. He also made reference to how he acts on the golf courts (boorish) and that he would be more respectful of the game. So he went beyond just his affairs in this speech.

I've noticed that some threads are taken off for review, then put back again. I guess this Tiger thread will be different than the other one?
