GUILTY TN - Adeline Conway, 9 months, died in crib, Clarksville, 15 Nov 2017 *Arrest*

  • #141
No, it was changed because I have it bookmarked. My bookmark still says "Adaline Conway, 9 months, died" since until this post we were on the same page. I remember being relieved when I came to the thread to see the change. I wondered if I missed something when I saw that it changed again...

Mods, can we get her name spelled correctly (Adeline with an E) and take out the inflammatory, unproven and as of now unfounded accusation in the title? Suspicious death or humidifier cord death or just that she died would be fine.

Adeline was found dead in her crib with the cord from a humidifier wrapped around her neck and arm. There was no evidence of sexual assault. I'm not even seeing evidence for murder. Parts of the autopsy have been posted on the previous page.

Thanks!

Was just looking around a bit more, I hadn't realized the entire case was sealed and a gag order put into place. Prosecutor requested it. Wow. Considering it's getting almost no media attention that's pretty weird.

A Prosecutor’s desperation

This is very well written and does explain a lot and make a lot of sense. I don't understand.... were pictures taken of the crib area? What would Mom testify to? This all sounds very much like the other cases I've seen with innocent people and false confessions.... even the shady bail thing. I can't find any way to contact them, aside from just signing up for updates. Anyone else find a way?

Chris Conway's Justification

We are sharing Chris’ story in order to evoke a particular emotional response from the audience. The emotional response that we are hoping to evoke is fear. If the police are able to do what they did to a praiseworthy and honorable man like Chris, then no one is safe. When tragedy strikes, the police should not be our adversaries. In a time when comfort was needed, the police came only to add terror to terror. After the shock of fear gives way to anger, we would like to call on our fellow citizens to stand and demand that police interrogation techniques be changed, and to demand that the “blue wall of silence” come down. For the good of us all.

Chris and his friends and family are not anti-police. We believe in the God-ordained role of the government and of the police in the maintenance of a prosperous human society. We have the utmost respect for the position and title of police officer. However, our criminal justice system allows for the grievous abuse of power by police officers as is recounted by story after story across this land. We are calling, not for an overthrow of government or of our police forces, but for a change of policy and tactics that will protect our citizens from police officers who have no respect for law and order.

So, are we thinking mom is divorcing dad and grandma (paternal) hasn't seen the surviving twin due to some DCFS demands or court orders for no contact with the family of the accused?

I would be if I were her, even if I believed 1000% that he was innocent. I wouldn't risk my surviving child to prove it.

I wasn't surprised by it considering what he is accused of; I'm just curious if she is moving forward with the divorce/ceased contact with his family due to DCFS demands or if she chose to do that on her own and if so, if it's because the possible long prison sentence is something she's not willing to deal with regardless,or if it's because she doesn't believe he was falsely accused/gave a false confession?

I wish we knew. I mean she was awake and in the house that morning. Was there even an opportunity for this to have occurred? Like was he in the other room long enough? Or was he with her or in the shower or outside the whole time?

I had to go back and re-read as I couldn't recall the details of that morning. I thought he got up early either on his own for morning PT or that she was up but then went back to bed when he left and that he later returned home after PT, but according to the website his family is running, the details were:

November 14, 2017 Chris woke up at 4:00am and prepared to report for duty at his station at Fort Campbell. His wife woke up with him and fixed his breakfast. He left home to report for duty around 4:30am. Around 7:00am, his wife went in to get the babies up and feed them breakfast and found that Adeline had gotten the dehumidifier cord wrapped around her arm and neck during the night.

This sounds as though he left at 4:30, never returned and that she was also up the whole time.
Was the estimated time of death in the report? I understand why the mother isn't saying anything, but I'm so curious to know if her story is the same, if she believes him but feels forced to divorce and cut ties in an effort to insure she keeps the other twin, as the only people we hear details and timelines from are his family, not her.

The lab report from the FBI (the FBI!) says, at the bottom of page 2 (which is the 6th down from the top because the first 4 pages are a separate document), no male DNA was found in the crotch area.

There’s no way he raped, molested, or sexually assaulted her in any way without leaving his DNA on her. It’s just not possible. He’d probably leave DNA from just doing a diaper change, but the report is that the mom bathed them, put them in their pajamas and put them to bed, so he couldn’t have even incidentally gotten DNA in her crotch area.

Literally every sample tested said there was no semen present.

The forensic pathology report says he has access to the second autopsy results but the mother would have to give permission for them to be evaluated and included in a review. Why is this? The father of the child should have equal access to a second autopsy, should he not?

I really don’t get why the cops were so hot to arrest him and the DA filed charges even with literally no evidence of rape. I’m so sick of men with power abusing it.

But what we all need to remember too is just because there is no seamen does not mean no rape happen. Rape is considered an unlawful sexual activity. Even if he used just a finger it can be considered rape.

Took a look at that website again.
Last post was in August (so 3 months ago) but is mostly about the Mom and surviving twin.

What About Chris’ Wife?

Can DCFS really threaten to take your child away if you don't testify in court against someone? Anyone know?

Wow, thanks for the link.

DCFS is not supposed to remove children without cause. And it's certainly way out of line for a prosecutor to threaten that. That being said, I think we all know of cases where there was horrendous prosecutorial misconduct.

If this account is true, she needs to move out of the state and get a recording of the prosecutor's threats.

So we are now less then a month away from the trial again. What is everyone thinking?

I honestly think it will be longer because of COVID-19 delaying so many court proceedings. It looks like there has been no updates on the website for Chris. JMO
