Pair Indicted in Sex Assault on Baby Girl

Two men were indicted Tuesday on rape and sexual exploitation charges after a mother found cell phone video of the men abusing her 9-month-old daughter, said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich.
Defendants Isiah Dequan Hayes, 19, and Daireus Jumare Ice, 22, are being held in the Shelby County Jail.

Hayes was indicted on aggravated rape of a child, while Ice was indicted on aggravated rape of a child (criminal responsibility for conduct of another.) Both were indicted on especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor.

According to investigators, a mother notified authorities on Oct. 14, 2016, when she found video on a cell phone showing a male acquaintance performing sex acts on her baby daughter. Investigators identified Hayes in the video and said Ice was the person taking the video.

The case is being handled by Asst. Dist. Atty. Lessie Rainey of the DA’s Special Victims Unit which prosecutes cases of child sexual abuse and severe physical abuse of child victims; rape and aggravated rape of adult victims, and abuse of elderly and vulnerable adults.

Horrendous! A tiny baby!!!!! Cut off their male brain and feed 'em to the sharks! I don't know why "IF CONVICTED" we should have to keep people like that alive. It makes no sense to me at all. No redeeming. Nothing else they do in life could ever replace those evil acts. We don't need them. No, not all lives matter.

Daireus Ice has a history of this behavior. I could not find either defendant listed as a current or former inmate in a Tennessee State Prison.

Fugitive Arrested Years After He’s Filmed Raping 9-Month-Old Girl

Hayes was criminally charged in 2018, but he had posted the $10,000 bond the same year. A warrant was issued for his arrest on March 13 of this year.

According to WKRC, Memphis police were tipped off about Hayes being in Jackson for several days. Police then contacted U.S. Marshals, who assisted in apprehending Hayes at a housing complex without incident.

Shelby County, TN – A Shelby County jury has found Daireus Ice guilty on all counts in the 2018 kidnapping and rape of a 4-year-old girl—crimes prosecutors called “a parent’s worst nightmare.”

During the trial, the now 12-year-old victim bravely testified, recounting the assault and its enduring impact. Her mother and brother also provided testimony, while family members remained present throughout the proceedings, steadfast in their pursuit of justice.

Chief Prosecutors Devon Dennis and Lessie Rainey of the Shelby County District Attorney’s Special Victims Unit led the case.

“Although the facts and evidence in this case were especially horrific, I am grateful for the jurors’ service and ability to sit through proof the week rendering the only just result,” said Chief Prosecutor Devon Dennis. “ My hope is that the victim and her family can finally move forward knowing that both defendants will be held accountable. The parents and citizens of Shelby County are a little safer today, now that Dareius Ice has been convicted.

“We are pleased with the verdict and it would not have been possible without the hard work of our team,” added Chief Prosecutor Lessie Rainey. “We hope the victim and her family have some peace of mind going forward.”

Investigators testified that Ice recruited Antoine Wilson—who has already pleaded guilty to all charges and testified against Ice—to abduct the child from her front yard. Wilson sexually assaulted the child while Ice filmed the attack, later leaving her near her home.

The case took years to reach trial because it involved multiple co-defendants, three separate judicial assignments, and extensive DNA analysis.

Ice faces three additional pending cases involving similar allegations.

Isiah Hayes jumped bail and has been a fugitive is now finally back in custody so he can be tried for the crime against the then 9 month old baby

Dareius Ice was just recently convicted in September of 2025 for ANOTHER separate rape of a young child, then aged 4.

Antoine Wilson was involved in the same abduction and rape as Dareius and plead guilty, ultimately testifying against Ice.
