I've wondered how C. herself felt about being put back in the custody of her bio Dad, and if she was okay with it or not. Nobody has mentioned anything about her reaction to it, nor have they discussed all of this custody transferring that has gone on just recently. If she had a negative reaction at being forced to go back and live with bio Dad, maybe that was the trigger that set Simpson off.

It would be nice if it was that simple, which would change the entire motive as to why Simpson ran off with her. That's a much better motive than the one everybody is assuming he had. Regardless of his intentions, good or bad, he's not going to be able to survive forever hiding out in a big white van with limited resources.

She seems really calm considering she's just been told her Daddy was in a car accident.

Poor little girl has no idea she is in trouble. I pray he doesn't hurt her!

I'm struck by how normal they look in this clip. Carlie might be pacing a bit, or anxious to get to her dad, but she doesn't appear to feel in danger. At any moment, he could have been seen by Carlie's mom or dad, his wife, or anyone who knows her and asked why she wasn't in school. IMO, a response like "My daddy's been in a bad car accident, but we're just picking up some snacks." would seem very odd to most people. And he doesn't appear in a hurry to get her out of sight. It's just so odd.

I am wondering if he told her that though.

Maybe she was never actually told that?

And she does look pretty calm, hopefully she is not aware what's going on.

Carlie is wearing the same striped shirt as in the missing poster and her hair is the same. Was the photo taken the same day ??? Weird. JMO

Huh. That video is so "normal". He doesn't seem to be trying to hide and she's just picking stuff out. So strange.

This is SO WEIRD. I wonder if it's possible he intended to take her on a little outing, and then return her home in time where it wouldn't have been obvious to all she was gone. I would guess by the time they were in the store, he told her it was not true that her dad was in a wreck. She looks like she's picking stuff out herself, like they're shopping for a picnic or something. Is it possible the van ran off the road and is in some ravine?

To me, it almost seems like she is trying to keep her distance a bit. She was several feet away from him for most of the clip, then falls in behind him as they exit the screen.

All of it is so weird.

I'm more worried. It looks to me like he doesn't have a plan and acting in a whim

She could just have a thing about getting close to people. Myself and others I know have a tendency of doing this, and I've seen other kids act like that around people who aren't their parents (even if they are someone they trust).

Although I noticed her behaviour as well, she does lean to grab something right next to him and then doesn't move away right away. I'm just not sure there is anything to read into there.

However, his behaviour does strike me as odd, as he doesn't seem to be acting weird at all!

I was JUST thinking this! I wonder if the wife knew he used to take C. for little "outings" and thought this was the same thing? Then became concerned when they didn't come back as usual? 100% speculation.

But then why the blankets... for just a day trip...

The 1st person who went through me head as I was watching it< and I was looking for the sames movements> Shasta Groene from ID, in a store with abducter Jet Duncan. Horrible, vicious crime. Carlie seems to move the same way around captor.:moo:

He knows he's being hunted. I can't stop thinking about Carli, and the Creeper.:moo:

I actually saw the opposite, she seems to be very comfortable around him. Which gives me hope that he loves her like a daughter...

I don't think this was some spur of the moment innocent picnic/outing that went awry. Here are my reasons.

He was authorized to pick her up from school as the custody info had not been updated and he was on the list of authorized pick up persons.

There was zero need to tell school staff a lie as horrible as her father was involved in a bad auto accident. but he did it.

He went on to tell staff Carlie may also not be there tomorrow.

He did not tell his wife what he was doing and appears to have planned for himself and Carlie, alone, to depart to somewhere, purchasing camping gear at Walmart and probable food items at the Save a Lot.

His wife is concerned and thinks he is up to "something bad"

He has not answered her phone calls and has contacted no one.

I believe his wife to be correct. This seems planned and more than just an innocent afternoon outing.

I wish I could believe he took Carlie out of love and genuine concern. I do not.

Given he and his wife up until recently had custody of both Carlie and a sibling, if Gary Simpson suspected Carlie was in a bad situation and wanted to protect her the logical thing would be to contact child protective services and the courts. It is clear from the fact that there are court custody records reported in some articles that Carlie was on the radar. Also if Carlie was in harm's way, was her sibling not also?

My concern is the opposite. What if Mr. Simpson was upset and concerned over her being returned to her father because she might say or reveal something he did not want said or revealed?

Maybe I have been here too long and have become jaded.

Where is Carlie? :sigh:

Grocery shopping with virtually nothing in the shopping cart. I take it there isn't a video at the checkout counter.

I don't think this guy plans on coming back home. He certainly doesn't buy supplies as if he plans on being on a camping trip for a long time.

I didn't see enough stuff in that cart for an overnight trip, much less a week or two. His cart at Walmart didn't have much in it either.

That's a bad sign.
