A Clarksville man arrested this week for criminal homicide is accused of drowning his girlfriend in a bathtub.

The deceased woman was found in the bathtub by Clarksville police. She was identified as 38-year-old Capitolla Cross.

Cross lived at the home with her boyfriend, 32-year-old Demetris Merriweather. He was later identified as the suspect and was taken into custody Wednesday.

He was previously arrested March 19 for allegedly strangling Cross during a domestic dispute.
