Searching the net I found this information... Carmella's husband, Melchor Benito Gutierrez, claimed that she left with a friend while they were traveling and never returned... his statement could not be verified and he moved out of state shortly after...

Carmella was reported missing by her son, who lived in Connecticut, after not hearing from her for several months...

Carmella had moved to Chattanooga from Brookfield, Connecticut, in 1989 with her husband, but had told her son Dan Hodgman in 1990 that she planned to leave him...

Carmella's husband had a criminal record and was charged with armed robbery in the state of Georgia after her disappearance...
conclusion... the husband somehow ordered her murder... nothing was ever found to link him but he is suspicious... besides having a criminal record... why do they murder the wife? why do they just separate and that's it, they never see each other again, the children don't suffer and everyone is happy...

She has had an appendectomy and a hysterectomy.
