Why in the world, if you're any decent lawyer, would you WAIT until it's time for deliberation to call the doctor as a witness???? If the doctor can testify that VC did have a cut on her ankle and bump on her head, that would be key to her being scared to tell the truth.

I believe this was before Chris was murdered and Channon thought they may could get out of this with just the carjacking... so dang sad.

I think the judge has a cold. He sounds stuffy and is sucking a lozenge.

He said he's going to let the jury deliberate until around 5:30.

They're calling a doctor as a witness? Isn't it ltoo ate for that now?!?!?! I'm confused!

If the jury returns a verdict on any of the capital murder charges, then there will be a penalty phase. Each side will call witnesses (this is wehre the victim statement would be, and the defense would call her family and probably a doc or psychiatriest to give the inevitable testimony about how she has mental health issues. Then the jury will decide between life without parole or death. But again this is all contingient upon the jury finding her guilty of the capital murder charges.

I missed the whole exchange too, only caught the end that the doctor was "standing by" if needed. I'm thinking if maybe it's a psych eval that shows she wasn't of her right mind or some sort of bullhonkey like that???

Thank you. I misunderstood. I thought they were calling in a doctor to testify that he did treat her for the injuries she claims she sustained from Cobbins.

  • #127
That makes more sense than what I was thinking. I was thinking it was the doctor she may or may not have seen for the head/foot injury she may or may not have had.

Being alone with Channon, seeing what happened to her and then wanting a candy bar afterwards seals her fate in hell as far as I am concerned. LWOP or DP are both fine by me... but I would rather her get death.

If I was "held against my will" and "scared out of my mind" like VC supposedly was, just watched some guys and my bf try to snap a girl's neck, strangle her, then stuff her in bags and then in a trash can... all this after carjacking her.. let alone ALSO seeing them bring in Chris and seeing what they did to him, and then he disappears and doesn't come back... OMG. A candy bar would be the last thing I'd want. I'd be screaming for the police and my parents and probably a barf bag.

VC is a cold blooded killer.

You'd think after seeing what happened to Channon that a person wouldnt be able to eat for days. But it didnt seem to have any effect at all on Vanessa.

And then to be so depraved as to call it all a "Fun adventure" should put the needle in her arm.

Gene Patterson twitters: (these are in reverse chronological order as usual.)

# Coleman is led from court. Her face impassive.

# Judge says he intends to allow jury to work until 5:30 or 6.

# Coleman appears untouched by emotion of statements. Though hard to tell. Her back is mostly to us.

# Despite having heard these statements several times already, the emotion remains very high in courtroom.

# Hugh hugs his wife before taking the stand. "His (Chris') room is pretty much as he left it, but without him its empty." says Hugh.

# "I miss his sense of humor," says Chris' mother Mary. "My life will never be the same."

# Gary is very emotional as he steps from stand. He glares at Coleman as he passes by her.

# "I failed her," he says of finding her 4Runner. "She was just down the street."

# When this is all over I'll still have the pain. It won't go away."

# Gary says his daughter never let him down.

# "Channon was born 24 years ago and on that day I learned the meaning of joy" says Gary.

# Gary Christian: "I was proud to be her father."

# "There's a hole in our hearts that will never be filled," says Deena.

# Deena Christian describes her daughter to court. "Our kids were the victims of a horrific senseless crime."

# Parties are assembling for victims impact statements run-through.

# Victims families are here. But no sign of activity in courtroom. We're told now that statements will be heard at 3.

I know VC will be charged with something, I am just not sure she will be charged with capital murder charges. Wouldn't it be something if she did get death!!! I hope the lawyer has her all excited about going home soon.
