Late afternoon, after a long day of more emotional testimony is NOT a good time to be presenting this sort of technical mumbo-jumbo. I guarantee that jury is hearing "blah blah blah, childhood, blah blah blah " and are thinking "I wonder what's for dinner? or "he looks like that guy on the Just For Men commercial." They are NOT paying attention to this.

Young boys have to be exposed to male role model--not necessarily bio father--to learn self control.

Oh. You must mean like his coach? Mr. Rudd?

I think the defense is trying to put as much time as possible between Newsome and Christian impact statements and penalty decision. Hoping to lessen the impact.

I'm sure that the jury is also thinking about all the people they know (or possibly even themselves) that grew up in environments much like this and didn't go on to a life of crime.

Psych - parental neglect equals childhood delinquency

Mom's "out of control" drug habit was "ominous sign" of Davidson's future behavior

Side note: poor TK has horrific cold but she's soldiering on

My son grew up with a drug addicted father until he was five and then his father disappeared (for all practical purposes) from his life. His grandfather, the only male role model he had, committed suicide when my son was eleven. He graduated with an Engineering Tech degree and just got his first real job making $40,000 a year.

According to this doctor, being the oldest and male he should have had all sorts of problems.

Thats a good observation. They may have just lined up a bunch of witnesses and then would call enough to make sure that deliberations dont start until tomorrow. Thats actually a good idea. I'm not sure they're that smart.

*Bombshell* Kids need role models, supervision, consistency, safety and security.

How many kids get it and are bipolar?

How many kids grow up to deal drugs, repeatedly shove guns in people's faces to rob them, then go on to rape, torture, pour bleach in their wounds and mouth, shoot them, set them on fire, wrap them in garbage bags and bury them alive in a garbage can, dufus?

Didn't think so.

Next?

Well, I'm going to go to the grocery store now so that I can at least check in tomorrow am and just maybe get to see the sentence live. I'm thinking though that the jury will take longer than we think to come to a unanimous decision.

Actually, I absolutely can't put off any longer going to the store. Toilet tissue is out, paper towles are out, kleenexes are gone, napkins ran out yesterday.................KWIM? My coffee maker doesn't use paper filters or I could stay a bit longer.

I was thinking about some of the earlier testimony about how great he was with his sisters kids, etc. But Daphne had her kids around him, and I dont remember her talkinga bout what a great babysitter Gutta was. In fact, i believe she moved out cuz he was BEATING her!
