Gezzzz they are going to bring up in court how much it cost to put a person to death vs housing an inmate for life. Unreal!!!

Well, the cost would go WAY down if they took him out behind the courthouse and put a bullet in his head. jmo

Maybe Davidson will *step up* and refuse his appeals if given the death penalty.

You know, the character witnesses at Cobbins trial came off as every bit the liar that Ethyl Freeman did in this trial. I don't think this jury will buy their BS.

Me neither but then again, we didn't think they would buy that BS either..and they did. I cried more after they said LWOP, then the Guilty verdict. Actually I'm still pretty pis*&^ about it to tell you the truth. I believe that Davidson has a 90% chance of being put to death and I CAN'T WAIT TO READ HIS OBITUARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you all have the delight to hear all the character witness' in Cobbins trial? They were all crying and hyperventilating, blaming Davidson, not Cobbins. It was disgusting and they all left before the sentencing was even given. It was absolutely sickening.

Yeah, they all ran down the hallway like a big ole boot was coming after them.

THANK GOD...this scum got what he deserved, FINALLY vindication for Chris and Channon both. Thank you all who have been here this whole time supporting the families and the justice for Chris and Channon.

I just have a quick story. I work in a small office just me, my boss, and our accountant. We have a tv in our office and it's always on ESPN (I'm out numbered) and right now it's all about the Phillies, as we live right outside of Philadelphia. When I saw that there was a verdict I asked if I could turn off the tv for a few minutes cause I wanted to listen to it. They asked what I was listening too and next thing you know, both of them had chairs pulled up to my computer to watch it happen live as I explained the crime. All 3 of us (them both grown men, and only after hearing my BRIEF explanation as to what happened) were in tears listening to the family afterwards. Even after watching for 10 minutes, they are now completely hooked and have already asked me when the next trial is "so we don't miss any of these scum getting what's coming to them."

May Channon and Chris rest in peace. And may the families sleep a little easier tonight.

ETA: And another thing, I think that the prosecution should ask each of the "character" witnesses tomorrow how many times they've been to visit Cobbins since his trial. All claimed they would, when they begged for his life to be spared. Let's see how that's working out, and not let this scum get off that easy.

Guess since the witnesses in the Cobbins trial blamed everything on Davidson, they can't be used for witnesses for Davidson. I bet it was difficult to come up with any witnesses for Davidson. They will probably have to be paid for their performances.

I'm wondering if the same people will be back blaming Cobbins this time.

My bold: That's assuming this defense team and that family has an ounce of scruples about lying through their teeth to save a sadistic beast.

From what we've seen of them, they have none. And our system caters to them.

I'm still not dried up, but need to go in a second - I just want to say I am sp pumped at the prospect of the Christian and Newsom families organizing a push for victims' rights and judiciary reform. :prayer:
I can't think of four better people to represent the movement. So bless them and their efforts!

They can count on my wholehearted support and whatever else I can give or do to help, and I'm sure I'm not alone on that here. :thumb:

Thx everyone for posting. I read the emotion in everyones post as if I where listening. I missed the verdicit by an hour. I had work to complete today.

I had faith in the Cobbins jury to bring the DP, and they let the families down. i have faith in the Davidson jury to bring it. I hope for the families the jury is mad as heLLo and will bring them the justice they deserve.

The Newsom and Christian families are what true American families are made of. The injustice they have gone through is just not right.

I hope they do start something that will change the rights of victims and their families in our legal system. I will be willing to stand behind them and support them any way I can.

I truly hope that the death penalty is the sentence but I do have a concern that not all twelve jurors will decide that. If the death sentence is not given, the families will not feel that there has been justice served, and I will feel the same way.

ITA, this defense team stooped to the lowest of low and tried the victims in this case and I hope that they are forever known for this act. I hope it follows them for the rest of their lives. The FBI are investigating death threats made against them during this trial. I bet they were very anxious about leaving that court house today.

  • #615
Yeah but they picked the type of defense they would use... but they got what they deserved in the verdict and their underhanded defense was probably one of the reasons it was so. They were destined to loose, yet they still decided to drag the victims into the mud. :furious:

Was wondering the same thing, ie whether they would hesitate to impeach their own prior statements. Afaik all the sisters (3 anyway) made impact statements on behalf of Cobbins' and said he was always bullied and in fear of LD... kinda hard to switch all that up now... :waitasec:

For the record, reference, and our pleasure:

(snipped to save AN INCREDIBLE AMOUNT of space...) omgosh Muffet it's staggering, the sheer volume of charges.

Hugh Newsom: It's time we took the handcuffs off the policemen and onto criminals! :toast:

It's good to hear Gary talk because I worry about him so much when he rocks, but when he talks, I can tell he's OK. He and they all are talking about their abuse by the system.

I'm ready to fight on the same side with him. A FAIR trial is important, but we've gone way too far in elevating the rights of the defense over everything else, over justice for victims, over justice for society, over protection for society.

Agree. Instead of a deterrent, the current legal climate actually increases license. It's crazy. :banghead:

:parrot:

I hope the anger of these families will help start a reform in our judicial system. The court that allows an innocent victim to be tried in front of their family, friends and loved ones needs to be examined and changed to allow these victims to have a chance for victory in a court, with a jury of their peers present, without the anguish of their name and reputation being tarnished. I pray that lawmakers who have future bills fall upon their desks will consider the fact that this could have occured to one of their children, brothers, sisters, mothers or fathers and act accordingly.

It is time for Americans to stand up and demand change!!!! I will gladly and whole heartedly support any and all changes these families try to institute!

Again - thanks to all the folks who kept us up to date today. I think the Judge did a wonderful job. We might not have liked every ruling, but there are no issues I can see for an appeal, which is what we all wanted in the long run. Continued prayers for the families who continue to endure so much and for the attorneys who have made this their call to arms.
