It can be opportunistic. Especially if a quota is not met. She’s not the age profile but she is a youngish looking female and was near a university. He may have thought she was younger. We just don’t know.

He didn't kill the other man because he was rescued by a uniformed patrolman at the ATM machine. He likely would have been killed after they got the money if that stroke of luck hadn't saved him.

He/They didn't grab Eliza for robbery purposes, most likely. He/They just saw an opportunity to be predators, imo.

When a Grand Jury decides the prosecution has provided enough evidence to show probable cause, they give a true bill which actually indicts the defendant, but if a Grand Jury thinks the prosecution did not show probable cause, they issue a no bill which forces the prosecution to drop the charges.

He had earlier turned down an offer of 15 years on the same charge but, according to Durand, told the court Òhe did not want to sign his name giving himself the time.Ó Abston has a long juvenile record of theft and aggravated assault.

I wish they would stop calling her a 'billionaire heiress'. She is one of many grandchildren of a wealthy man. In the end she's a mom. Plain and simple.
I get that media will use the 'hooks' in their headlines and I get that when someone has wealthy realtives a kidnapping for money must be considered, but I think they are just diminishing her as an actual person.

I know this has been discussed before about being one/two abductors. She is running in the street (most runners do) and he was waiting for her? Why would he just hang out there?

Can’t imagine he’d be able to get her in his SUV, close the door, and walk around to the drivers door without her bolting? There would have to be another person driving I’d think. And if so, I’d be inclined to think it’s a robbery but runners don’t typically carry debit cards.

This doesn’t make sense.

There has to have been two people in the SUV. No way they could get her (even with a struggle) into the SUV after a brief chase (BQ qualifier and very athletic). She appears sweet but also feisty. Two people in the SUV, twice as likely someone will crack. Less reason to release the video. Working to have someone flip. IMO

IMO this was planned and there is a more sinister side that will be revealed. I would like nothing more than for them to find her and safely get her home. MOO is that will not happen; the perps may not have known her well or at all but this was targeted.. JMO-man.

People who have lifelong crime history, or plenty of time in prison, or for that matter good self defense training, all know that the initiative of violence, especially by surprise, is very powerful advantage.
There is a reason why even a 6'2" fit police officer will stand bladed at an angle, weak side forward) and with his hands up at his upper chest, when interviewing anyone, including weaker persons, which the officer considers even a remotely possible threat. A cop, or you or I, under most circumstances, cannot just haul off and cold clock you with a full punch in the face while your interaction isnt yet violent, a criminal can and will. Most people will not even recognize the pre-strike indicators, like a quick glance around and rocking back. You could be the top marathon runner, or sprinter, and a good sucker punch to the face is going debilitate you if not knock you unconscious. If you have seen surveillance videos of street robberies/mugging, assailants are telegraphing they are going to strike and quickly do so, and the victim is usually not taking basic steps to minimize that risk.
