My concern is that this case may involve a black market adoption. It reminds me a lot of Sonya McCaul and that one took eight years and two state courts to untangle.

What happened with that case?

I think understanding possible culture of certain groups and their heritage is important in these cases and I agree with you that it may be relevant here. I'm also Romani (Hi!! o_O)

It's a careful line because so much is misunderstood and used to perpetuate harmful stereotype. From my standpoint, I would hope that posters could be cautious and differentiate culture vs stereotype. If you don't know, ask questions vs assume based on bad media.

Things like a frequent distrust of authority and CPS/DCF (commonly born out of being the victims of discrimination and profiling) are important to consider but it shouldn't be put forth as "These people hide babies!" which is what some have been doing.
Also, if we could refrain from using ethnic slurs that would be great too.

What ethnic slurs are people using?

Totally O/T but can someone please tell me what the heck DBM means ? I've seen it repeatedly, and now I feel like it's something I should know.

Are you sure it is the correct MB?
No, which is why I said anything could be true. It’s SM, the land of “online personas.”

I think it’s “deleted by me”

I wasn't making any allusions. The primary allusion I would have made, if any, would be that if these similarly surnamed people are part of the same family, they may be used to cameras and thus more media-savvy than the average bear. I find it hard to believe that things have come to a pass where you can't even mention someone's nationality as a fact, without having it interpreted as a slur. I mean, really.

This isn't about nationality.
Gypsy is a racial slur.
It would not be okay for anyone here to use the many other racial slurs that apply to people of color, would it ? Google will help you out with this if you need further explanation. The correct identifiers are Romany, Romani or Roma and Irish Travellers or Travellers. The two groups are distinctly different though the slur has been used to describe both.

It's possible MB implicated Angela Boswell and William McCloud due to the fact they were already evading LE for outstanding warrants. Meaning, maybe she thought they'd be the perfect scapegoats and they'd be harder to track down.
(Just speculating)

Both suspects already had active warrants out for their arrests. Boswell reportedly had a violation probation warrant, while McCloud had a warrant out for theft.

Glad it's not just me! I really need to go read the files on the home page to know the meaning of many abbreviations here!
After a while I just started assuming everyone here was a cow (MOO)

I had no idea that "gypsy" was a racial slur. I always thought it was a legit identifier. I learn something new every day.

A lot of it is American ignorance to the history of it. People literally name their kids “Gypsy” here and some treat it more like a synonym to hippie. And there’s that Fleetwood Mac song! But it is a slur in Europe and to people familiar with the history of it.

What happened with that case?
It was several years ago and was a complicated legal mess involving termination of parental rights. I forget most of the the details but it sure started out just like this one except it was Dad in Nebraska who had custody; Mom was no longer in the picture. Dad allowed the babysitter to take the baby to Tennessee to visit her family. Babysitter failed to return to Nebr. and decided she could no longer care for baby so Tennessee DCFS got involved and put the baby in Tennessee foster care. Placed the baby with a couple who decided they wanted to adopt her. Dad spent a few years in prison, I think on a gun charge but he refused to relinquish his parental rights. The adoptive parents waged a national public relations campaign. Dad won.

Somebody here (I think, or at least hope) did mention that the family surname is the same as that of the family who features heavily in "My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding".

I'm thinking that's a big fat clue they might be Romany, myself.

I've known Boswells. It actually sounds English to me.

It doesn’t make sense at all. If I’m understanding her correctly, she didn’t report it right away because she didn’t want the person to disappear with Evelyn. But if the person hadn’t run away with the baby yet, what would she have been reporting?

Then later she says the trust was broken with the person when they took off and wouldn’t answer any calls.

So she feared that the person would take off and vanish, after they took off and vanished? Not a very well thought out excuse IMO.

Well, it seems the part about not answering calls should be provable. MB should a) have this person's number b) this number should be associated with a name and c) Evidence of MB attempting ti calk this number multiple times with no answer.

To be fair, the translation of gypsy in portuguese is NOT a racial slur. The terms "Roma" or "Romani" do not exist in portuguese. The term etnia cigana is used more formally, which translates to gypsy ethnicity, and the term ciganos, which translates to gypsies, is used more commonly. Just saying. As someone who is not a native english speaker, I had absolutely no idea that gypsy was considered a racial slur and the fact that it is feels so weird to me. Interesting to know though. I don't know who was using the term "gypsy" but whoever did it, most likely didn't know. I wouldn't know.

It is NOT a slur in Portugal or Spain, both EUROPEAN countries. Just saying.
