Taking stolen property across state lines could result in federal charges but not typical for auto theft. State theft charge covers values far exceeding $1ok.

I don't see the feds involved here at all (unless they took a kidnapped child outside of TN which does not appear to be the case here).

MOO

Have the feds not provided any assistance on this case yet?

If not, that's terribly disappointing.

I think if LE recovers evidence from the vehicle that EB was inside the BMW at any point, it would behoove the TBI and local authorities to ask for the FBI's assistance.

LE doesn't appear to have any idea where EB is at this point.
She could be in any number of states by now.

I think the feds could bring some much-needed knowledge, expertise, and resources to bear on this case.

Hoping to see them come on board as an assisting agency, if they haven't already done so.

I asked because such gatherings are usually in the child's community and law enforcement involved in the search often attends. Ten miles down the road in another community and another state seems odd.

JMO

It a very big, very rural county. I don't know how else I can convey that this is not odd here, so I'm just going to sit back and shut up now.

Forgive me for this but this thread has gotten so far off this missing baby! I want to keep up to date with the case but can't because there are to many other conversations going on. Please feel free to private message another member and have those talks all you want! Can we just get back to helping find this missing beautiful baby girl!

Sullivan County is large and spans several cities. We are all community right now!

It must be very confusing if you are not familiar with our area. I live in Kingsport, but can be in VA in under 5 minutes.
Also, the Tricities - Kingsport, Bristol and Johnson City are not quite the depressed mountain community that has been mentioned here.

Kingsport, JC, and Bistol are kinda fancy compared to the surrounding little towns. But not big city kind of fancy. I enjoy JC, especially downtown. Lots of good music and a bit artsy.

Yep, FBI is involved.

"Seabolt said detectives from the Sheriff’s Office, TBI and FBI have been working around the clock to find the toddler, follow up on tips and conduct interviews."

Investigators continue search for missing 15-month-old Blountville girl

Forgive me for this but this thread has gotten so far off this missing baby!

gotta be really careful otherwise mods will lock this thread for cleanup which happened a lot during the canadian manhunt thread from last year, sometimes it was 15 minutes sometimes it was a few hours depending on how busy the mods were

so lets try keep it on Everlyn and how to find clues to her disappearance

We are discussing why a prayer vigil is being held for Evelyn in Bristol, when she is from Blountville. It's absolutely on topic as far as I'm concerned. And MANY of us have been vigilantly working for this child's return non-stop for days, so if my response to your post seems testy, please excuse ME for THAT.

I apologize if I have distracted anyone from the case. I felt that cultural info was relevant for how to interpret some of the interviews, as well as for explaining why multiple states may be referenced during the course of this case. I absolutely agree that finding sweet, baby Evelyn should be the focus.

I will be interested to see what happens within the next 3 days while AB is in custody. I pray that it is not more misinformation.

Awesome, thanks, SweetBeach!

I'm relieved to hear it…the FBI's investigative tools, resources and expertise are no doubt proving to be extremely helpful to local LE.

Sounds like some of the parties involved have had prior run-ins with LE.

Doubt any of those prior encounters have been with the FBI, though…they're in a whole other league now.

I don't think it's going to be long before somebody starts talking.

Tennessee has the death penalty.

If EB were alive and well and just tucked away hidden somewhere, I really think somebody would have divulged her whereabouts by now.

I didn't mean it literally. But we are VERY rural here, and many of us have to drive from one town to the other for any number of things. We we are very interconnected in that way. Our courthouse is in Bristol, TN, our county clerk is in Blountville, our only mall now is in Kingsport or Johnson City, and so on and so forth. Heck, if I run out of milk it's a 30 minute drive to the closest store in Piney Flats. To us, 10 miles is nothing...that was what I was trying to convey (and doing a poor job of apparently).

My point was that the missing child lives in Blountville. Vigils are usually near the child's community such as the ones for Faye Spetlik. The child's family shouldn't be the ones having to drive 10 miles.

No apology needed. If I don’t want to discuss something, I just keep scrolling.

LE hasn't provided any misinformation have they?

I am very surprised that the grandmother wanted the responsibility of taking care of Evelyn.

I do remember an older child, Kirsten White I think her name was. Mom gave weird stories about what had happened to her and there was a delay in reporting her missing. She turned up a month or so later alive, but I don't remember more than that.

oh wow, that’s crazy! I’m going to read what I can find about her. I’m happy to know that at least one kid’s case like this had a happy ending.

I don't think authorities could give 2 figs about the stolen car -- they wanted the occupants of that car to seek any morsel about the whereabouts of baby E (i.e., feds not involved in auto theft investigation).

The sheriff did say (presser) that TBI and FBI are all on call to provide any assistance in the safe return of baby E. Following up on more than 200 tips.

Feds will definitely help with missing child investigation -- state still trying to lay the ground here.

ETA: TBI issued the AMBER Alert.

I am very surprised that the grandmother wanted the responsibility of taking care of Evelyn.

She may have offered to do it in exchange for her daughter purchasing her the car. Day care for infants can be expensive. I do wonder how long a warrant has been out for her violation of parole. Was she hiding from cops at MB's house? There seems to be a trigger that was pulled around Thanksgiving.
