Had been providing ... to whom?
I still don’t see them out and out saying she’s lying to them (the police) currently.
“Had been” is a past identifier.

I think once LE was involved that Maggie told them all she knew and it was hopefully truthful.

But when they interviewed TB he had a different story of what MB had told HIM.

I’ll stand by this until the end of this case, I would never tell TB much of anything and would keep him so far from my children that it would be years and not Thanksgiving since he saw my baby. If that involved lying through my teeth to him, so be it.
Remember the police can lie to you and the media all they want if it helps their investigation but if they can prove you lied to them they will arrest you.
It is against the law to lie to police but you can lie to reporters all you want.
Anything she said to anyone other than while being questioned by police can not get her in trouble.

The cops could be saying her stories are not matching just to try and get someone else to believe that she has not ratted them out.. In fact it is odd for police to say that about someone at all unless they have arrested them for it.

I don't believe TB is the enemy in this case. I think it is highly likely he and MB told LE similar stories which is why this case became so complicated so quickly. TB is an ex-con. There is no way he would stand for someone breaking the law surrounding his family.

I’m confused. He’s an “ex-con” (I have major doubts about the ex part) and he won’t stand for someone breaking the law around his family? I’m not sure how that adds up.

Does anyone here know if, theoretically speaking only- MB has full legal custody. If she were to put the baby up for adoption, what are the privacy laws concerning that? If it was all above board, would an agency be required to hand over information to the police? Would a warrant enable them to access the information?

The sheriff said at the press conference she had given them (LE) conflicting and inaccurate information. That's why they're saying the last time she was seen was 12/10 or 12/11, because they don't trust when mom said she saw her last. It's pretty clear she's been lying to LE.

I think TB's past criminal record is easily available but I'm not going to implicate the man in current crimes because I don't know him and have absolutely no evidence against him. CPS and LE certainly took his call about Evelyn seriously and I'm glad they did.

Where does it say that MB is “actively lying” to LE? Link please?
We know she has given LE alot of inaccurate, conflicting info so far. And whatever MB told them has been refuted by video-surveillance and eye-witness testimony.

Also, in reference to what MB has told LE, Sherriff Cassidy refers to them as "stories." IMO that's tactful semantics for lies.

*Check it out around the 5:45 mark of the press conference video below...

MB is the baby's mother.

She's the one with the duty of care.

A mother does not just hand her year-old infant off to someone else and abandon her for 2 months without any contact whatsoever.

The first time MB was denied access to EV (which may or may not have happened, as I frankly question whether she made any attempt whatsoever to see her), she should have contacted authorities.

Lots of families live in dysfunctional chaos…dysfunction isn't a crime, though.

Parental neglect, on the other hand, IS in fact a crime.

So is child abandonment.

So is child endangerment.

MB didn't see or hear or touch her baby for over 2 months, and she did not report it to anyone.

For that, I hold her entirely responsible.
Entirely.

JMO.
GK, I understand what you are saying. And I usually agree with everything you post. I am usually on the same page as you, just a little less eloquent.

But the one thing that changes it a little for me this time, is this was MB's own mother, that had her baby. So that is a qualifier that changes things.

Many many young mothers hand their babies off to Mom for a time while they try and get their lives together.

Now in this case, granted, AB and her shady boyfriend have a long criminal history, so I probably shouldn't give MB any slack.

So now I am arguing against my original point...

Never Mind, you are right...MB is responsible for neglecting and abandoning her baby.

Huh? How could it be a ruse if she was in possession of stolen property (BMW) far from TN... The outstanding probation warrant was independent of missing EB.

i was asking if AB lived close to MB and if so, why had she not been arrested before now on that warrant?

Does her mom have a violent criminal history? If not i dont follow why you would rescind your slack, as it were. A lot of us dont have parents with clean records but we still trust them not to harm our children.

I thought I read that her Mom had lost custody of 2 children previously. And her boyfriend has a violent criminal history, I believe.{ I think we are allowed to sleuth them now, as they were arrested in the car and accused of taking the baby?]

I can’t get past the chicken guy ex mentioning the broken arm. I feel there is some truth in this. Maybe baby E was injured in the care of one of these people, but more than a broken arm. Then a cover up begins. Grandma def holds the key to this. I think something happened while this child was in her care, she has told her daughter it was a broken arm and she would keep her till she recovers so she doesn’t get in trouble for abuse. Just my opinion of course, but I think anything MB’s mum tells her she would believe.

I’ve just caught up here and I’m still so confused.
This is such a strange case. Poor little Evelyn.
Watching her mother’s interview, I don’t understand the disconnect she seems to show towards her missing baby - smile smile, laugh laugh, nod nod, tears, sweet potato, baby shark and repeat. IDK, I really do try hard not to judge and perhaps Evelyn really was with her Grandmother but even if she was, now she is missing and something with her mother just isn’t sitting right with me. This makes me think of Chris Watts and the Sermon on the Porch.
I am still praying for a miracle.

Also, if LE thinks Maggie isn't telling the truth about the last time she saw Evelyn being "December 26", this means whomever had Evelyn for Christmas, didn't let her see Evelyn for Christmas. Considering even Grandpa, who is on the outs with Grandma, saw her at Thanksgiving; what does this say about who had Evelyn at Christmas?

If it was Grandma who indeed had the baby, as I was questioning above. :(
