This family statement is different.....it specifically excludes Angela! (But still points out that Ethan's family should pay for the funeral)

Tommy Boswell, Sr. and family release statement following TBI confirmation of Evelyn’s remains

“The immediate Boswell family ( excluding Angela Jones Boswell ) of Evelyn are in anguish and grief over their loss. It has been a very rough and trying time for everyone......"

I interpreted the statement slightly differently.

The Boswell Family would like to reach out to Ethan Perry and family to come together for all arrangements for sweet Evelyn.

I took "all arrangements" to mean planning the funeral (choosing the date, the program, the church or funeral home, flowers, songs, burial place or cremation, etc and perhaps the cost as well) vs just the cost since anything monetary wasn't specifically mentioned. I could obviously be wrong and perhaps he did mean simply pay for it??

ETA: I agree that the exclusion of Angela Boswell is very odd, considering it did NOT also exclude Megan/Maggie Boswell? Interesting....

“Court documents also read, “The State would aver that the defendant poses a substantial risk of harm to the community if she is released into the community.”

when i first read it i thought it said the community posed her great harm and i thought well that makes sense why they won't release her into the community

i actually think her posing harm in the community makes less sense

took "all arrangements" to mean planning the funeral (choosing the date, the program, flowers, songs, burial place or cremation, etc)

this is what it means for sure, you are correct

Poor darlin' never made it to 15 months. I wonder if she even got to 13 months...

I, too, took the statement to mean that they wanted to plan the funeral with EP's family.

Maybe I'm too cynical ;).

;) Maybe I'm too naive and assume people wouldn't be that tactless in public statements? Either of us could be equally correct. It's been a strange case with strange characters and family dynamics to say the least. :)

when her own children seem to be in care or away from her, does it really surprise you or do you expect different?

I think we can't understand this "grandmother's thinking" because it's not rational- nothing about this bunch makes sense but I think they are criminals and I think kids being removed for abuse or neglect is just another day to this bunch....we would be angry, mortified, ready to climb under a rock but these folks just think it's "normal"...so many people failed that sweet baby!

Whoa! The family is definitely emphasizing and calling out the exclusion of AB. Could be very telling.

I don't think they are asking EP's family to pay for anything related to services, JMO. I interpreted that as the Boswell family wanting to work together with EP's family and wanting inclusion for the services grieving process, etc. Frankly, though, EP and family may not want anything to do with the Boswells. Again, MOO.

thats what i thought i read as well, it was about working together

glad they are not asking for that, that would be insane by anyones measure

I’m with MissMalowe. I think this was just odd wording by the media. I interpret the statement as they are reaching out to EP’s family to join them in planning arrangements.

The line about no approved fundraisers was just another alert to the public not to be scammed. I think these were two separate parts of the statement just lumped together by the reporter. IMO

I, too, took the statement to mean that they wanted to plan the funeral with EP's family.

This is how I took it also. If it was about the money they could have the funeral arrangements paid for in no time flat by starting a fundraiser. There are plenty of people who would love to help this sweet baby be laid to rest.

Agree, I read it like you did. I think they are trying to be INCLUSIVE and say they want EP and his family to be involved in the memorial. Like they will be fully included in all arrangements. TBSr may realize EP would have rights as the next of kin and he wants to avoid any dispute or show of a dispute by offering to work together upfront.

I work in the death care industry and it is VERY likely the family will not pay for the service- between the fund established for victims of violent crimes and the community I think this will probably not be an issue-

I felt they were saying they wanted to plan with the father BUT it's likely this child will be released to her father and not the mother's family once she is released so they may actually just be trying to mend a fence so they aren't left out in the cold.

I just feel sick and heartbroken over this. I had high hopes that Evelyn was just "adopted" by someone, a friend or family member who was in a better situation and wanted to get that poor baby out. I know everyone is really hating on MB, but I believe she is mentally ill. I'm not defending her at all. I can't help but wonder what the immediate circumstances were that lead to Evelyn's death. Was Evelyn sick and couldn't stop crying? Did she die by accident when she was left alone? MB doesn't strike me as a Susan Smith or a Casey Anthony, but I could be wrong again. MB seems awfully immature, I would guess a mental age of about 8-10 years old. IMO, MB's family all knew she could not handle the day to day care of Evelyn, mentally or financially. NOW they feel (a little) guilty because they're in the spotlight. AB knows more than she's telling, IMO.

Am I the only person who heard the TBI agent testify in open court, under oath, on national television, that they found the body of Evelyn? That is confirmation. They cancelled the Amber Alert. I don't know what more the "public" could possibly want.

Getting a grand jury indictment that is appropriate for the facts presented is more important than satisfying the morbid curiosity for details from the general public. If anyone can state an interest more compelling than an indictment and conviction of the personal responsible for the death of a child, I'll eat my hat. This isn't some local LE power play - it's ensuring the state can get a fair and appropriate indictment without claims of poisoning the jury pool with incessant media and social media scrutiny. There are things more important than chatting online.

I heard it . . . Excellent post!
