So we don't paint everyone with the same brush. Easy to point fingers and forget our own homegrown terrorists. There are plenty of hate groups and it seems like the loner crazies as well,

But to compare Westboro to ISIS is a joke. JMO

Roof, McVeigh, Lanza. I forget the names of the rest and hate to even name those.

For what it's worth, the vast majority of acts of domestic terrorism in the USA since 9-11 have been committed by people who identify as Christian, not Muslim. So too with arrests for conspiracy to commit terrorist acts. And it's not even close.

This holds true for most of Europe as well.

Why are people using moral equivalance riddles in this thread? It is more than obvious the motive here is based on the escalating threat that is radical Islam. To bury one's head in the sand and deny the real threat these people are to humanity helps no one but the terrorists.

No one is denying it is a threat. Nobody's head is in the sand.
You said it right. Radical Islam.

Exactly. I'm equally as concerned about the effects of alienating young people (of all backgrounds) as I am about the bizarre but seemingly effective recruitment strategy of isis. There are anti-islamic rallies and counter rallies planned across Australia this weekend. I've been following some of it on social media, and the dehumanization of ordinary muslims by people that call themselves "true Australians" has left me stunned. Nothing condones extremist violence of any kind, but it has opened my eyes a bit as to why young men in particular might feel that society hates them. It breeds hatred on all sides.

Marines were killed after the suspect opened fire in Chattanooga, Tennessee
At least three others, including a police officer, were also injured
Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez, 24, was then shot and killed by police
He was a college graduate with a degree in electrical engineering
The Muslim published two blog posts on Monday, with a chilling warning
He wrote: 'Brothers and sisters don't be fooled by your desires'

In response to the shooting Homeland Security ordered enhanced security measures at federal buildings. Since they can’t carry weapons what are they going to do? How are they going to defend themselves against the next Muhammad Abdulazeez -- lock the doors, pull the shades?

It's time to arm the Armed Forces. Now, I’m sure the experts will say there’s some sort of logical reason why military personnel should not have access to firearms – but I’m not convinced. Brave Marines gunned down in a Southern city -- and that is something we cannot abide. Our elected leaders must give them at least a fighting chance.

It makes absolutely no sense that Marines and Airmen and Sailors and Soldiers who defend our nation are unable to defend themselves – on American soil.

It has also been revealed he updated a cryptic blog on his Islamic beliefs where he talked about submitting to Allah just three days before staging the horrific attack.
He wrote: 'Brothers and sisters don't be fooled by your desires, this life is short and bitter and the opportunity to submit to allah may pass you by.'

According to The Daily Beast, he added: 'Take his (Allah's) word as your light and code and do not let other prisoners, whether they are so called 'Scholars' or even your family members, divert you from the truth. If you make the intention to follow allahs way 100 per cent and put your desires to the side, allah will guide you to what is right.'

Chattanooga Mosque Where Gunman Worshiped Mourns Marines

ETA: I checked for recent unsolved highway shootings of cars in motion in Tennessee and parts of neighboring states that might suggest a prelude to the Chattanooga shooting. I came up with very little. There were a pair of shootings in late 2012 in Clarksville, TN, about 150 miles northwest of Chattanooga, and another pair on 12/3/14 in Memphis, TN, about 260 miles west of Chattanooga.

Thank you Fairy1. I guess I didn't look in the right place.

This is personal to me as my son is a Marine. I am so angry I don't know if I will get any sleep tonight.

FWIW, and I can't quote the exact law from 1992. But it's such, that logistically, it's very difficult for any active duty service member to carry guns off base. I've always worried about the fact my son can't conceal and carry. Then my fears were realized as he was recently attacked, robbed, peppered sprayed, tasered, pistol whipped, and kidnapped off base. If he was not a Marine, he would conceal and carry. In my family we all do.

I guess the rules don't apply to them. But off with our heads if we drink a beer!

It seems that he had a sudden resurgence of religious faith. That sometimes happens when someone has a close call---like a DUI, for example....

OH MY LOrd, SuziQ, that's awful. I hope he is okay now. How disgusting that he had that happen to him. So sorry.

SuziQ, here is an Editorial by the Washington Times on the military base firearm ban

End Clinton-era military base gun ban
By THE WASHINGTON TIMES - The Washington Times - Wednesday, November 11, 2009
Time after time, public murder sprees occur in “gun-free zones” - public places where citizens are not legally able to carry guns. The list is long, including massacres at Virginia Tech and Columbine High School along with many less deadly attacks. Last week’s slaughter at Fort Hood Army base in Texas was no different - except that one man bears responsibility for the ugly reality that the men and women charged with defending America were deliberately left defenseless when a terrorist opened fire.

Or maybe he thought he could get salvation by his killing spree after his fall from grace
