Finally free, Gaile Owens just wants to live life
She was sentenced to die for arranging Ron Owens slaying. She asked Sidney Porterfield to kill him in late 1984, saying she could no longer take the emotional, physical and sexual abuse. Porterfield did it a few months later, clubbing him 21 times with a tire iron in their Shelby County home. Gaile Owens and her children arrived at home to find him bleeding and dying.
In spite of a plea deal she accepted that would have given her life in prison, the deal was yanked when Porterfield backed out. Both were sentenced to die. Porterfield remains on death row.
