Maybe she offered to leave and go to the lake house since she doesn't work and he does. Maybe he said he couldn't leave because he would have to be at work Friday morning. They knew the kids would be out of school because of the tornadoes and she and the kids wouldn't have anywhere they needed to be Friday morning. She could have been so frustrated that she offered to leave so they could come to a resolution.

I DO personally know the Palmgren family. I have been friends with them for over 20 years. I will say that they are truly a sweet, caring and totally normal family. Matthew is a hard working, devoted family man. I am heartbroken that they are having to endure this...not only the disappearance of Gail, but the questions and public opinions.

Please remember to wait for all the FACTS before ruining this family.

HI Confused. We try very hard here to keep it to the facts for the very reasons you say.
I think that the thread is doing a good job of addressing both sides of the potential issues and no family will be ruined by our doing here.]
I have heard the same as you are saying that both parents are good loving people. But we do know that something has gone terribly wrong and we are trying to help find out what may have happened to gail.

It is critical to keep her name in the public eye so that people know she is missing and will look for her. Too many missing become forgotten.

I don't believe anyone here is trying to ruin this family. Most people on here are reading the online newspapers and the police are releasing the info about the domestic violence calls in the week before she went missing. The police are also the ones releasing the "sworn" statements of the husband and the newspapers are printing them. The GNP's family is responding that what the husband is saying isn't true...

Everyone also hopes and prays she is alive and well but noone knows what goes on behind closed doors not even the closest friends or family.

Welcome to Websleuths!

I'm having trouble putting together all the information in all the posts and articles, so I did a timeline. I feel like I'm leaving out something though. Most striking to me is that the sister showed up with the fliers the same day he reported her missing. I hadn't noticed that. She already had them done and ready to distribute. Yet it seems he isn't distributing any fliers. He just went to the courthouse to file papers instead? And it looks like he sure did get that done fast.

When were the bank PIN numbers changed? Trouble with some dates because dates of articles may not match dates of events.

How about copy, paste, edit as events get added or corrected? And let this list be strictly facts and no opinions?

April 22: First 911 call—dispute regarding travel in vehicles to lake house. Article says this is first of “at least three visits” during the next 10 days. Where is one between 22nd and 29th?

April 23: Date Mr. P. claims in court document (filed later) that Mrs. P. took valuables from house.

April 27: Day of unprecedented tornados. Signal was for the most part spared.

April 28-29: School was closed locally for damage clean-up.

April 29: 911 call—given numbers for safe place to stay. Resolved when “Matthew Palmgren agreed to stay at 40 Ridge Rock Drive and let Gail Palmgren take their two children…to their lake house in Alabama for the night,” according to police report

April 30: She brought children home and then disappeared (around 12:15, according to neighbors)
April 30: Date of change of address form, according to Mr. P.

May 2: Mrs. P. sister begins (shortly after noon—at Wal-mart at foot of Signal) to distribute fliers regarding her disappearance.
May 2: Mr. P. reported her as missing
May 2: Last cell phone “ping” at Wal-Mart at foot of Signal

May 6: Mr. P. interviewed by Times Free Press by telephone. Says she has disappeared before, has psychiatric issues, and usually “just goes somewhere and decompresses but stays in contact with the kids.”
May 6(?): Family friend handing out fliers; interviewed by Times Free Press. She says she thinks Mrs. P. is scared; dismisses Mr. P. claims of “psychiatric issues.”
May 6(?): Mr. P. filed Chancery Court papers for legal separation: restraining order, custody, possession of home. Claims she has “bouts of depression” and is “delusional.” (claims Mrs. P. family, friends, and police dismiss)

May 8: Mother's Day

May 9: More than 2500 fliers have been distributed by her siblings and neighbors (wrcbtv.com article)

May 11: More than 5000 fliers have been distributed by her siblings and neighbors, according to msnbc.com article (quote from brother)

Welcome to WS confused and I am so sorry that people you know and care about are living this nightmare.

This family wont be ruined by us, although I understand your caution. People are expressing their opinions based upon what they are reading in mainstream media...they are expressing (likely) what many locals in your area are thinking and or feeling. People who may not know them as well as you do.

The nature of an investigation like this is to focus in on the people closest to Gail-that would be her husband. The fact that they were clearly involved in some kind of crisis makes everything more concerning.

Sorting through the pieces of the puzzle is what will help her be found-and people on a board like this come together to do just that. None of us are trying to take the place of law enforcement. Gail has brought together a number of people from acruss the country who care what happened to her, and that is always good. IMO.

Let me say that I in no way was accusing this forum or anyone here of ruining the family. I am simply reminding everyone that this is a real family, not a TV crime drama, and they have to live with this on a daily basis.

I agree that the more people looking, the more likely she is to be found. I am sure that Matthew wants Gail to come home more than ANYONE - for multiple reasons.

That's where the timeline helps me, if I have it right. April 29 was Friday, so the school issue was not an issue.

Of course you werent-we want to help by drawing attention and perhaps gathering some resources for the Palmgren family. Those dear children must be so confused and heartbroken!

If you had to make your best guess, what direction might Gail have headed in? I appreciate anything you can share.

:rose: Gail is now being featured on our front page. Praying she is found safe! :rose:

I hope they are taking a good, close look at Gail's husband. I would really like to know why she would be afraid as her friend Arlene said as well. I also wonder if there was any history of abuse here?

And I think this was mentioned but what is their living situation that he didn't know how long Gail and his children were gone? Seems odd to me that a dad who lives in the same home wouldn't know.

Edit: Seems some of my questions have already been answered in previous messages that were posted while I wrote mine. Please disregard, I am currently paging through. :)

I have no guess which direction she would have gone. I wish that I did, for everyone's sake.

This article implies that Matthew Palmgren is not looking for his wife.

Is he?

New twist in case of missing Signal Mountain woman

Channel 3 has attempted numerous times to reach Matthew Palmgren since we first reported Gail Palmgren as missing.

Palmgren, nor his attorney, has not returned our calls.

The only people talking are those looking for Gail Palmgren and her siblings believe if she could contact them, she would.

He's filed for a separation since she went missing, so I imagine he's not looking for her. :(

I assume areas along the road up the mountain have been searched thoroughly (or are in the process of...)? I find it a bit odd that the rather distinctive vehicle she drove off in was not spotted yet. Unless these are very common vehicles in the area (although the vanity plate would stand out you would think)? Maybe I am getting ahead of my self but has anyone checked in the lake for the vehicle as well as around the mountain roads?

I was wondering about bodies of water myself. :( I hate to think it! But if everyone has been checking out all the roadways, that seems to be the next place to start looking.

Not pointing any fingers here without evidence, but if I had to call LE to my home 3 times in 10 days I'd be a little paranoid too.

Any time a mother disappears without her children it raises a banner of a red flag for me. Rarely do they have the outcome of Wazineh Sulieman.

If a husband files for separation while wife is newly missing, and having no information as to her safe whereabouts....well, hinky alarm is now on red alert.

Ya, that's what I was thinking. Also where else could an object as large as a vehicle (and as distinctive as the one Gail was driving) go that it would not be seen again? It seems a bit of a stretch to me that she was still driving it around while thousands of MP fliers are being passed around describing her and the Jeep without anyone saying "Hey, wait a minute...".

I suppose it is possible, but given other elements of this case... I think I would start looking for a boat.

If a husband files for separation while wife is newly missing, and having no information as to her safe whereabouts....well, hinky alarm is now on red alert.

Even if the marriage was dissolving, I feel like most husbands would still be curious what happened to the mother of their children and would at least make a token effort to search. Not to mention, what does dad tell the children while she's gone and he isn't looking for her?

I guess I have discovered that I have a hinky alarm, too, RavenTrue.

She was found? Maybe I need to look again, I didn't see it. Can you provide a link if you have one? Thanks!
