WRCB Sheriff: Crews will work to recover, categorize remains today. #gailpalmgren

A few people also asked why they didn't do this kind of search earlier on. It is my understanding from a news interview with Monica Caison from CUE that the equipment used to detect land form abnormalities was provided by CUE. I don't think the equipment belongs to HCSO or TN Highway Patrol. I think the equipment was put on a TNHP helicopter though for the search.

At the end of April the trees were turning green and the foliage was growing pretty quickly. From where they speculate the Jeep left the road there really wouldn't have been any foliage disturbed per se. There are either trees growing on top of the mountain as you can see in the pictures or they are growing off the side of the mountain. There is a really good picture on the front page of today's paper that puts the area into perspective. I haven't found that pic online but I'm trying to.

One the news video's stated the Palmgren's traveled that road every day. I will go and find the link to it.

At about 1:20 on video states - Palmgren's traveled this road every day.

Someone brought up earlier in thread that there were signs out for Road Cleaning -

This video mentions they reported the search started day prior
Also mentions about other vehicle being found - states not related.

I am a big fan of CUE and Monica Caison - she is interviewed here - this sounds like it was all very thought up in regards to planning this search. They would have had to prep to have a high angle type of team on standby in case of a find. Probably not something that is always just on hand as it seems it all went very quickly yesterday for the the type of skill needed to execute this treacherous and complicated search.

I am sure the presser this morning will bring much more information - if anyone has a live link?

My prayers to the family of friends of Gail. On the one hand, it's good they know what happened to her, but on the other, their hope that she was alive and well has been crushed.

:praying:

:rose: Rest in Peace, dear Gail :rose:

Prayers for Gails loved ones during this terribly difficult time.

Glad they did not need to use dogs to recover.
Hopefully recovery will be complete. :(

So sad, all around.

BBM - This seems to be accurate. I believe this was a good joint collaboration of various agencies of LE, CUE Center for Missing Person's and other agencies who can can provide this type of technology. I think a big misnomer is that all LE have everything they could possibly need to aid in any kind of search, which is not true. A lot of these resources or manpower cost money in providing what is sometimes needed. CUE is a non-for-profit, no person has ever taken a salary from the organization, I know they have to raise funds to conduct searches. Travel costs, hotel/lodging, meals for volunteers/searchers- specialized equipment - etc etc etc.. All things that are free to those they assist - victims/families/LE which is their core purpose. No different than those that support AIDS, Cancer research, Military or any type of cause. Any search effort made up of volunteers high in volume made in comparison to that amount of number of paid LE - budgets don't always allow in some locations and states. Thankfully, their are those out there who dedicate themselves to this cause in particular considering the amount of people who go missing each day rises considerably. A major silent epidemic in this country. Very scary.

If you view this area location on google maps - you can see that there is no way to see down when the foliage is in full effect. When you view from BING - you can see more clearly down the area. Obviously, the satellite imagery taken at a different season between bing and google. But I think it offers a good visual for those trying to see the locations.

Just thinking if a body could actually scatter from impact 100 yards away from vehicle as is stated in news report; thoughts?

It always surprises me how far things can fly, but also keep in mind weather related causes and animals, and 100 yds is really nothing.

In retrospect, since she was not wearing seat belt, she was probably thrown out and the Jeep kept tumbling, makes total sense.

I didn't see it, so she was up mountain from the jeep?

Oh Gail. My heart is breaking for you and your children and your family.

The lump in my throat hurts. My eyes are filled with tears.

How did this happen? What caused this? Is it really just an accident? Such a coincidence if it was.........
