Just my opinion...
I don't think either of the siblings have ever turned down an opportunity for factual national coverage on Gail.

My impression is that perhaps the family has not openly criticized any efforts because they appreciate the work, time, and caring intent, and they do not want to burn any bridges or hurt anybody's feelings by seeming ungrateful. JMO. I THINK I would probably take that approach regardless of how much certain efforts made me cringe. IF that is the case.

I think it would be very helpful if an insider could possibly get information to clarify what the family would like and would not like, based on information that LE perhaps has given to them and nobody else.

Surely if it were presented in this context, nobody would be offended and no bridges would be burned.... Just my thoughts based on being an outsider looking in.

I would love to see some back up for that and the context in which it was said. if anyone has it that would be great.

What I remember is only from facebook. There was a thread requesting posters to contact NG. I believe the family wishes came through someone else. Several posts have been deleted when they ugly and this might have been one because I could not locate it but I may not have gone back far enough.

You are correct. It has been posted there several times.

Oops. JBean, I misread your post. I deleted the one I posted in response. I hope I was fast enough so that nobody quotes it. (It wasn't anything bad, folks. Just misread the meaning at first:):

Thank you, fireflylink.

FWIW, I have sprint, and during the storms cell phones were the only thing that worked on the mountain once the power went out Wednesday night to Thursday late morning. We haven't had issues since, with the exception of the norm black areas and skiddish reception down the W road (and other specific areas on the mountain), which we are used to. :twocents:

So, you think Matt's attorney arranged with a counselor beforehand that no matter what the kids told the counselor, this counselor, without even knowing yet what the kids would say - which, if I went by Gail's threads, could include that Matt killed their mother - would testify to a certain list of things?

Again, a grave ethics violation - and just too much of a stretch for me.

Not at all! I don't believe the kids saw anything happen to their mother on 4/30, so I don't think MP has any concerns that they would say they did.

In our area there are a zillion counselors. Some specialize in treating people with addiction or anorexia, or GLBT issues, marriage counseling, sexual abuse, and on, and on. There are some counselors who specialize in issues related to divorce and child custody. Some of them, who have been doing this a number of years have testified many times and as such have good reputations among divorce attorneys and judges. Sometimes the court will appoint one of these people specifically because they know they are experienced in this type of work. And when these experts testify, the judge generally gives a lot of weight to their testimony. Of the few in my area in this specialty, there are some who lawyers think are more for or against fathers or mothers, mostly due to how they view issues such as domestic violence, parental alienation, etc. etc.

In most cases BOTH father and mother would meet with said therapist for intake information. Usually the therapist would want to observe the children in the presence of each parent. They would hear both parent's versions of the family history and dynamic, and with input from both parents and the children, hopefully develop a full picture of what the family dynamic is like and how it impacts the children. In this case, there is only MP's version of events to go on, and only his take on himself, GP, the children, etc. This could definitely impact the way a therapist approaches counseling. It doesn't mean at all that the therapist is unethical, just disadvantaged by having only one side of the story.

However, unethical therapists do exist. The kind of "hired guns" essentially who will pretty much say what you want said. They are a minority among the many, many genuinely motivated people in practice, but they're not too hard to find either.

I suppose the attorney could have stood up and flat out lied to the court, on record, to the judge, in front of the media, on video.

That would be a pretty serious ethics violation I would think - and to do it on video even, and with independent witnesses, really really stupid of him.

It's just too much of a stretch for me, personally.

I don't believe they lied, but they could have worded their statements to imply counseling had begun in earnest when that may not have been the case.

As to choice of counselors, I have no doubt that unethical counselors are out there, but I think it more likely for him to choose someone the children are less likely to open up to. I also wonder if it's possible for him to set parameters for the counseling.

And is it family counseling with him present or individual counseling? Either way, if they know he doesn't want them to say something, they probably won't. At least for a while.

My bet is that the children are doing the best they can to please. After all, he's the only parent they have at this point. They are bound to have anxieties about losing him too. JMO.

I thought Gail's family expressed early in this process that they did not want this to happen. In fact, I think I read that Diane specifically asked people not to contact Nancy Grace. I thought the lack of national attention was in respect of the family's wishes. Am I incorrect?
:fireworks:
It was SOMEONE in GP's family...KN's wife posted her comments on the BGHN FB page a few times. Many ppl who visited BGHN suggested contacting National MSM ....that list included NG and many more...KN's wife took issue with the suggestions to get in touch with Nancy Grace's ppl.The BGHN site admin got several emails from visitors inquiring why the family (aka KN's wife) had a problem with National MSM attention, especially Nancy Grace? KN's wife demanded that the BGHN admin ONLY allow prayers from visitors and was asked to delete anything else that was posted by visitors to the BGHN site. When the admin, respectfully said they would not do this, but would keep a close eye on the page. The BGHN admin assured KN & his wife that the admin would make sure that all inappropriate comments (ie: those related to the children or outright MP bashing) would be "hidden or deleted" from the general public (and they were and still are). That was not good enough for them. KN demanded that the BGHN FB site either be shut down or turned over to his wife to admin alone... and thus the "rift" between "the family" and the BGHN FB page began and continues to this day.

I for one don't have any problem with the way the BGHN FB site is run. The moderators here will tell us all....It's not an easy task. It is a place for prayers and good wishes, it is informational (current MSM audio/video/print) ,news about Event information, search information, information for other people gone missing in Tennessee ... Reward Fund information etc.

A good friend to the BGHN site, who specializes in finding missing people himself, was assisting GP's family with information with regard to resources available to them for free through certain agencies. He built a FB page in response to the family's (KN's wife's)concerns and wishes. It was up for about 4 days or so and then KN's wife demanded that he take that page down too...??? I have no idea what her reasoning was behind that, as it was ALL PRAYERS ...ALL THE TIME...just what she said she wanted. It was what she had wanted...but still she was not happy and made a break from him too...just as she did the BGHN site. He took the site down for about 1 week and then put it back online. His thinking was ...the Prayer Site was for GP and not GP's sister-in-law...and it remains up, to the best of my knowledge.

Certain members of GP's family haven chosen to not go National or speak to the media, at least once KN & DN left TN and this baffles me. Yes, DN did a phone interview with WRCB and Calle Starnes recently, but KN's wife posted several times on the BGHN site before disowning them, that KN was "THE ONLY family spokesperson"...nobody else! I have not heard him speak at all since he was interviewed in the WalMart parking Lot handing out flyers, when he was in Signal Mountain over 1 month ago. Unless I missed the interviews...I think DN has been the ONLY family member of GP's to ask for ev1's help in finding her sister GP (since DN & KN left TN to go home to their families). DN is the only person in GP's family speaking to the MSM. MY REAL FEAR IS THAT THIS CASE WILL GO "COLD" and then it may be too late for the family to entice the MSM to cover the "COLD CASE", especially if they have turned down or cancelled interviews previously. Am I wrong? I look forward to ev1's comments.

According to the separation filing:
Gail was suffering from severe mental issues
Gail was under the care of a psychiatrist "for some time"
She began experiencing bouts of depression after losing her job
She was prescribed medications
Plaintiff noticed that Defendant was becoming more and more paranoid
Approximately 4 weeks [before filing] she thought she was being followed, and began writing down license plate #'s and asking others to run the plates to determine identity.
Accused Matt of breaking into her car

The wife has sever psycholgical problems that have not been corrected. her condition has gotten worse and she is now manic and apparently suffering from delusions.

---------------------------------------------------
My thoughts-

So there is someone that may have the license plate numbers she checked on, if she was phoning them in to check identities.

I don't doubt she was dealing with depression. she was highly suspicious of her husbands behavior and *knew* before confirmation by the PI that her dh was having an affair. Crumbling marriage+dishonest husband+affair=depression. Seeking treatment is normal and natural, so obviously she wasn't so unbalanced that she did not seek treatment for her depression.I take the non-expert description of her mental state with a grain of salt. I have a family member that suffers from severe mental issues. He is delusional, paranoid and unstable. I would no more put children in his care than the man in the moon. His behavior on every level is erratic and unpredictable. Matt says he saw a behavior change escalating over a 4 week period. Why would he leave children in her care? Police were called and at the end of that exchange she was the one to leave with the kids? Why wouldn't Matt explain that she was under the care of a psychiatrist, was delusional and paranoid and should not leave with the children?

He left them alone with her for a week while he went to his "conference" with Tammy H.

Sorry but if any of you have ever dealt with someone that is either in or has a recent escalating history of delusional, paranoid, manic type behavior, it is impossible for me to comprehend anyone leaving young children in their care under any circumstances.

FWIW, contrary to the attorney for Matt, the Jammer asked AD if she'd known that GP had been seeing a doctor when she was in Birmingham, Alabama. This would include PRIOR to AD and GP becoming close friends.

So I'd like to ask, IF GP was STILL seeing a doctor, why did the attorney just tell the Jammer about the period that GP had lived in Birmingham? I'm wondering if the def attorney is s t r e t c h i n g the facts to include present tense? Or is MP making things up for his attorney?

Just curious these contradictory statements.

On another note, they say GP was paranoid, which was why she was writng down license plate #'s. Wonder what the license # was she was alleged to have written down when she was in Birmingham with M&KG? Wonder what MP thought when MG contacted him and told him about the mysterious car GP said was following her?.....Oh, wait,..... I mean, curious that TH is said to have purchased a NEW CAR while she and MP were out of town (just a few short days AFTER GP was in Birminghamand) MP was NOT going to the business meeting he was SUPPOSED to be at? Wonder what TH did with her old car? Did she trade it in? Sell it? Keep it? Wonder what the license # was?

Wonder what LE said to GP when they contacted her BEFORE she returned to Signal Mountain on 4/30? Interesting they left that contact part out in what they released to the public and MSM. Wonder if they're realizing they blew this from the get go? I mean, MANY local LE across the country, IF there'd been domestic issues and the victim needed to retrieve stuff at the home where the abuser is, they would accompany them to deffuse POSSIBLE conflict. Especially if the last personal contact between the partners was contentuous and had to be settled by LE and the wife getting a 'safe house #.' Why didn't that happen here? LE meeting GP at the home?

MP had just returned from the bogus business trip the day before GP disappeared. Wonder if TH was still in town? Wonder what color hair she has? Wonder what her alibi is? I know, I know, MP's criminal def attorney said she was at a game or something. But we know he's not obligated to speak the truth, he's not in a court of law. And Ms TH had been in Signal Mountain just the 29th. We don't KNOW for sure she was somewhere else, LE didn't say it, just someone who WANTS her to have an alibi.

Not pointing fingers, just curious. Just questions in my mind.

JMHO

A number of us didn't get to listen to the Jammer interview, and there's no archive.

Did Arlene answer this question? If so, what was her answer? What kind of doctor? Was that mentioned?

Respectfully snipped and BBM.

In my opinion, you are not wrong and I agree. De ja vue, too... I also think the FB site is run very well. I am convinced the administrator must not sleep because he or she seems to be there to monitor it 24/7. I have occasionally seen some rude or distracting comments made, but they don't stay there long at all. Most of what I see are missing posters with Gail's face, pictures of her Jeep, offers of prayers and encouragement and volunteer discussions regarding searches, etc. There is actually very little of what I would call "discussions". It is mostly "likes" and brief comments or occasional questions.:twocents:

I would love to see some back up for that and the context in which it was said. if anyone has it that would be great.

JBean, I found at least a couple of the relevant posts but do not believe I am permitted to quote them. Is that correct?

The posts I found were June 14, 2:41 p.m. and 10:16 a.m. by CB. One specifically states, in response to a post asking about Nancy Grace, that the family does not want the case sent to her and that he is respecting that.

The other, of greater concern to me, is his statement that the family and volunteers do not agree about how the volunteer efforts should proceed, and that "we volunteers" have not been shown the respect deserved. Furthermore, he states that the family is concerned that volunteers may compromise the investigation but that they intend to carry on regardless. He says the family has no more information on the case than he does, and that the Police are giving him information. :ohwow:

Just the facts ma'am. In paraphrased form. Navigating to June 14 was a painstaking process. I'll be glad to provide the direct quotes if permitted.

About Nancy Grace: To me, she always takes the side of the victim. Sometimes the families talk to her on the air and sometimes they don't. She won't ignore a case just because the family asks people not to contact her - I can't think of any time that has happened. She might stop letting family members on the air if they give her trouble or lie to her - like Billy Dunn for instance. But that doesn't mean she won't cover the story if there are developments.

I think the real reason this story hasn't hit the mainstream media is just because the Anthony Trial has taken over the airwaves for weeks.

As soon as there's a verdict (which probably won't take that long), we will get back to Holly Bobo and this case as well. I'd bet money that this is on Nancy Grace's list of backed-up cases right now. Chattanooga is only two hours from Atlanta - we are in NG's back yard.

We, Gail’s family, continue to ask for your help. We are asking the public to continue to keep their eyes and ears open for any information that can lead us to Gail. If anyone sees or hears anything about the whereabouts of Gail or her Jeep we ask that you call the POLICE immediately, # 423-622-0022 or 911.
This has been difficult for everyone involved. Please consider our request for your help. If this was your family member, I know that you would want the same.

We would like to thank the public ahead of time for helping us try to find her.

This is the family response being e mailed, posted in cyberspace and printed and hung. I think it speaks volumes.

snipped

In my opinion, this case is on the fast track to Cold Case Town. I know that some people are turned off by the strong personalities in the spotlight, but I still don't think it's their fault. It takes people with those strong personalities to get things done. But, I still don't think it's solely a distaste for CB or AD that is the problem here. This case has received zero national attention. As a matter of fact, this case has not received much statewide attention.

I agree with all of what you said but just snipped to this part because it mentions something I've been surprised about. I have a blog journal sort of thing with 2 people from Tennessee, and they have shown no interest in me mentioning the case. When I asked them directly, they said they hadn't heard of it and assumed it must not be a big deal because it wasn't in the Knoxville or Nashville papers. One guy said he didn't care about "another blonde white woman going missing".

Personally, I was VERY taken aback, but then I calmed down and realized there has been an outcry recently about the types of cases that get publicized. There are a lot of missing people and the media only reports on the ones that will get the most attention.

I'm afraid we might be at the point where, barring confession or finding Gail and/or her Jeep, the case is going to go cold. We'll see if the paperwork K&D filed is re-filed with the new judge, as that might bring up some interesting info.

Good post. Now that I've stopped laughing.............. Question:

Is it possible that a head injury could cause these strange behaviors in GP? If we speculate on the black eye not being caused by a run in with a door. Thanks Sleuthy.

You know, they can send that out as a press release to whatever news outlets they would like to publish it. Basically, all they need to do is put a title on it saying 'Press Release' and email it to the different outlets.

:twocents:Yes...It was nice to see the family make an updated plea. They (KN & DN) have been quiet since leaving the TN area. People, in general, were starting to wonder what their current thoughts were about the investigation/search for their sister GP. The above bolded comment is just a small portion of the longer plea, which can be found on DN's personal FB page. It can also be found on BGHN's & CB's FB pages. Many other FB ppl have copied & pasted it on their own FB pages too ... and repost it daily. The FB/email plea started again the day Chancellor Frank Brown ruled against DN & KN in Hamilton County Court (June 29,2011 ...Wednesday).:twocents:
