John Gardner had submerged her body in the shallow end of a lake in the park. Dogs and searches don't always work like you think they would. There is the possibility that Holly's body is well-hidden somewhere and the perp is long gone.

There do appear to be small outbuildings scattered around and possibly hunting stands. I hope they are checking these.

My gut feeling right now is someone she knows, but not well. Someone from class/school that she has seen before but is not friends with, or someone in the community like that.

I wonder if there is someone in class who asked her out and she rebuffed his advances? She was friendly enough to him, but not "friends" with him? Possibly they had talked just enough for him to know where she lived, her class schedule. Jmo per usual.

Actually I went back and looked at the stories and her body was found in a shallow grave near the shore, not submerged. I'm not sure why the extensive search didn't find her, the grave was relatively close to her last known location, but the dogs didn't lead searchers to her.

no offense to any of our k9 searchers here but after reading about the boy who was just across the street and behind a garage, and dogs searched and couldn't find him for 4 hours (that is when handlers pulled them off and a neighbor found the child), i've kinda lost faith in them. for now anyway....

When I first read this story, I thought how strange that this 25-year old brother didn't intervene.

I also am one to generally think it's someone in the family...

But in this case, I am leaning toward stranger or non-family abduction. First of all, there are various versions of what occurred with the brother and they all can't be true. However, if it is true, that the brother saw but did not intervene, I think we have to realize that a lot of times people think they would behave a certain way, but in the moment, they don't. There have been so many cases where person after person witnessed a crime/brutality being occurred but did nothing. I think if you would have asked these bystanders before, they would have said that they would intervene, but the moment they didn't. Think about how many parents/grandparents insist that they would murder anyone who raped, murdered or hurt their child? Most of them that I know, but think about how many cases/crimes with loving parents who would do anything for their kid, but they do not exact vigilante justice. I think it's possible the kid just froze or did go after them, but when confronted with a threat, backed down...probably not what he thought he would have done prior to situation but he did.

If you ask me now, I'd tell you now that if a guy threatened to blow my daughter's brains out right there, I think I'd still go for it and try to fight, because I've read enough about these cases to know that they are probably still going to hurt and/or kill the victim at another location. But I also know that in reality, I might not act the way I think. I hope I would, but I don't know...

I can totally see a 25 year old boy calling his mom first instead of the police. I could also see the mom telling him to call 911 instead of running after some possibly armed guy into the woods. as a mother, of course, she would want to get her daughter back, but she probably was afraid of ending up with a murdered son and an abducted daughter. If in the same situation, I'm not sure that I would send my 25-year old into a possible ambush after his sister...

Here is an aerial from the property maps that has a clearer view of the property. The "barn" can be seen just to the back of the house. There do appear to be trails through the woods, but they are hard to see. The pond is to the south of the house and, I believe, in the opposite direction than the abductor would have headed, as the carport is on the north side of the house.

Even in this photo it is unclear as to whether or not the road they live on is paved. I get the impression from photos that it is now, as their driveway is paved and clearly visible in the aerials, but Swan Johnson Road is not. At times it is even difficult to figure out where the road is. If they had headed to the road and taken off by vehicle, there may be tire tracks. I wonder how traveled this road is. I imagine that LE would have come from the south, so they may have headed to the north.

The map is in my siggy and I have updated it with the additional property lines.

Thanks, hollye. I was looking at the property information and the family also owns the small pond and about 20 acres around the lot their house is on, mostly to the West but South enough to cover the pond.

I wish they would drain the pond.

Three things to investigate:

1. The opportunity....where did this man get the opportunity to grab Holly? It would be tough to imagine a random event. The home can barely be seen from the roadway, much less the carport/garage area. The driveway is long and surrounded by fencing...so the abductor most likely came from the wooded area to the back or side of the home. If so, he had to know the woods well...because a random sighting from within those woods would seem unlikely. Therefore, this must be someone who was intentionally waiting for the right moment to grab Holly...someone who knew when her parents went to work, and when she left for school and perhaps, the habits of her brother. To me, this seems like a planned abduction by someone from the area.

2. The Motive: What was the abductors motivation for the crime? Revenge? Sexual assault? Murder? Money? This is uncertain at the moment.

3. The Means: How did the abductor carry out his crime? Was there a knife? A gun? Did he use only his hands to drag Holly away? What was his getaway? An ATV...a car? He had to have some type of vehicle that brought him to the wooded area. Did he hurt Holly and leave her in the woods? Did he tie her up and take her with him by vehicle? How did he physically carry this out?

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but is it possible this has to do with her cousin, the country singer? Perhaps a deranged fan?

The property to the north is approximately 125 acres and is agricultural. It has no buildings on it. It is owned by the same person as the property to the west of the Bobo property with an additional 50 acres and is also agricultural without any buildings on it. I wonder if this property is used for hunting purposes and if so, I wonder if her abductor is someone who hunts that property and is familiar with it, maybe someone who knows the owner of that property. The owner of these properties appears to live elsewhere in the town and there is at least one road in the town with the same last name as the owner. They appear to be a long established family.

If this was a home invasion, generally the criminal does not take someone. Either they run off or they kill the people who saw him/her.

I think this is someone who had been stalking her and someone she may possibly know from school, church, etc. For someone to get through the woods and get away, especially carrying or dragging another person, they had to be familiar with the area around the house. Which also says to me that this person is local and has had time to know the family's routines.

I also wonder if it is possible that the abductor is someone who is familiar and possibly jealous of the boyfriend, not necessarily an exboyfriend of Holly's, but someone who may be friends with the boyfriend, who may have secretly wanted for Holly's affections.

Maybe even a hunting buddy of the boyrfriend.

That is for sure not the time someone would try something like this.
