I know all cases are different...but in following the case in Oregon, where the young woman Whitney Heichel was just found last might and her suspected killer arrested, that case seemed to move at such an astounding pace; three days of searches, leading to an arrest and finding her body. Of course, the suspect in her case left a trail of evidence, but LE also knew what to do with that evidence, and quickly. I sometimes wonder if Holly might have been found by now if she had vanished from a large city.

Odds are there would have been surveillance video had Holly been taken from a large city or even a more populated area. Surveillance video has been most helpful in recent cases like Mickey Shunick, Sierra Lamar, ...

Whereas cases that lack it, like Kelly Bordeaux, Amy Ahonen, Karen Swift, Erika Megan Sharpton, etc. go unsolved.

No, no surveillance video (that we know of), but this case featured that rare thing in abductions, an eyeball witness feet away from the developing crime. And LE bollixed it.

Hope this thread continues to stay active. I for one have scanned New Posts, been fooled (again and again), and clicked on "Honey Boo Boo," wishfully misreading it as "Holly Bobo."

I'm laughing and crying at the same time.

I guess local LE is not involved in the Bobo case. It appears it rests in the files of the TBI. IOW, it is cold. Not one person in the entire area knows anything...or isn't willing to give anything up if they do.

The only thing ever said was that it was somebody from the community who knows the area very well. That leaves friends, neighbors and the occasional worker in the area.

We know nothing and the family isn't sharing much...

Yep, sadly, this is another one that we can add to the file of "keeping it close to the vest didn't work out so well..."

Video though is much more reliable than eyewitness testimony.

Comparing this case to the recently solved in only a few days case of Whitney Heichel, 21, Gresham, 16 Oct 2012:

I think we have an example of abduction that was performed by someone who didn't plan, and was inexperienced - when compared to what took place in Holly's abduction where even with an eye-witness, the case has not been solved.

I know there are many objections to the prevalence of cameras scrutinizing us, and there certainly is a 'big brother' flavor to it, but after following cases on WS, I have become a big proponent for video surveillance ANY and EVERYwhere. There are so many cases that have been solved because of it, and so many unsolved without it. I am even beginning to see the value of it in/on private homes. The Byrd murders in FL several years ago were solved partially on the basis of the dramatic video from cameras that were mounted in/on their home. I know there are limitations, but ANYthing caught on tape would have been better than the nada we got here.

i respect your point of view but firmly disagree. while it's sad to see cases like these, i'm unwilling to give up the right for hundreds of millions of americans to be free from invasions of expected privacy in order to solve a handful of missing persons cases or homicides. there certainly is a cost to insisting on these freedoms, but i think it's well worth it. just my 2 cents.

Doesn't hurt, but if the monies already offered didn't do the trick, I don't know if adding more to it necessarily does the trick either. Praying it does though.

As long as they don't place them in my home, I'm all for as many cameras as can be with the exception of traffic-light ticketing cameras. Even though I've never been ticketed....

It's such a remote area out there, I don't know that video cameras would have helped in this case.

When this case first broke, I was hoping there might be some hunter's cameras in the woods that might have seen something...
Even something indirect, like the video in Sierra Lamar's case where one car was seen driving around areas relative to the case.
So in Holly's case even video showing cars that got gas in the days leading up to the crime might help (tedious, of course to go through) might show someone from out-of-town... etc.

I thought of Holly when Whitney's murderer was revealed. IMO, a similar crime could have happened to Holly.

I truly believe that someone has come forward with legitimate information. The problem is sifting through all the BS to determine which tip is the legitimate one. It's such a small community, I have a hard time believing that this person with some info hasn't already come forward, but the problem is there is so much thrown out there LE has a heck of a job sifting through it all.

Who's holding the money. IMO, that is ridiculous. An increase is NOT necessary. I'd like to know why they find this will help.

I agree. I don't think an additional $80,000 will help. Whoever knows something is obviously NOT talking. Money doesn't appear to be an incentive.

I do like that her picture is still out there even if it's on pie packaging.

I assume it is the company itself offering their own reward not associated with the existing one.

Honestly, with that much money, I am pretty sure ANYONE that knew ANYTHING would come forward. Seriously... The existing reward money is staggering and you can't tell me someone in the know would be hesitant to come forward for that kind of $$$. I'd rat out anyone for that amount. Money (greed) is a huge motivator and is stronger than fear.

Thank you Mrs Sullivans! I think it's a great idea considering the demographics of who purchases the products, where they are sold, and in what regions. Imo, they targeted an expansive viewership of Holly's missing info- and very importantly, her face.
