the idea that the perp revisited the woods to intentionally bury the bag for a dog to find is so far-fetched compared to the idea that the bag was dropped and not found during the initial searches. it's also obvious from the picture that the bag has been in the weather for a while. also, since no one knows where it was found no one knows whether it was buried or not.

as to why she would go into the woods clutching her stuff - because she had a test that morning and in the chaos of whatever happened to her she wasn't able to comprehend what was going on, the same thing any of us would do in that situation. she drops her stuff and she's conceding defeat - that she won't make the test, that this is happening, that she's not getting out of this situation. so she walks with this guy into the woods, hoping that she can get out of the situation. at some point during the walk he probably grabs her stuff and tosses it.

my two cents: there is no reason to believe a complicated solution when a simple solution is just as viable.

"And why is it they're not searching today?" he demanded.

Is it because it rained and it's wet, or what?

Agree, completely Masootz... completely. In our own personal situation, my daughters abductor kidnapped her at gun point. I am sure for the first few seconds she thought WTH? And tried to get away. Another thing, Meg grabbed everything she could and left stuff for us to find. Maybe Holly did the same. Not knowing where she was going or how far away she would be... she could have dropped some things hoping she would be found quickly. We will never understand the minds of these criminals. We would go crazy trying to. But I agree... sometimes it's the simplest explaination.

When I got MY phone call that Meg was in trouble... I couldn't tell you if I had my phone, my head on my shoulders or an orangutang hanging off the rear view mirror. I took off and headed to where I thought I could find her... don't EVER doubt Karen Bobo... some of you know first hand but many of you, I pray, will NEVER know the utter dismay and confusion of those first minutes. Since then I keep my phone with me, even in bed, but initially.. I didnt even know my name. Respectfully, If it ain't your daughter... don't doubt her mother.

If Holly dropped the bag, then the bag would be full of her items....the keychain, the lip balm, etc. If they can find the area where the dog located the purse, then they can look for some of these things. But if the purse was totally empty and the items aren't around, it sounds like the items were taken by the perp...perhaps for souvenirs or for planting.

"Heck fire," say we. "Send out the US Mail Carriers! Through hail, fire, rain and snow, they persist! You will receive your letters, bills and packages! Even on Saturday."

It seems that Holly's items had to be planted. That's all that we can logically concur. A lunchbag with blood is found almost immediately, 6-8 miles in one direction....the discovery on Easter morning in another location (reportedly the phone, and such a significant find that high volume searches essentially stopped that day)....now the purse in a one mile area around Holly's home. There were also a few other things found that TBI will not tell us about.

What are the odds that within days of the Bobo's having a community awareness/fundraising event that a dog would go into the woods and dig up a purse that has been there for 2 years? Not blaming a soul or casting doubt on anyone....but is that not too coincidental?

This is a local. Who the heck is it?
Coincidences happen all the time in these cases. I tend to think that, if the purse were planted, it was planted not long after her abduction, and has been sitting there in the elements ever since. Heck, it could have even been dropped by the perp if he were one of the 2,000 volunteer searchers.

This case has been screwed up from the beginning, with people traipsing all over the crime scene and region. I don't doubt that everyone involved, LE and searchers, had their hearts in the right place but it's obvious that LE did not have good procedures and training in place to deal with something like this.

I agree Shefner. If they can find where the dog found it, more clues should be close by... we can only hope.

Every time this case gets one iota of steam, TBI shuts it down. No searches today? Ugh.

That's right. My dad was a rural mail carrier and about every other year would slide into a ditch after a blizzard and have to have a farmer with his tractor pull him out. Didn't stop 'em back in the day, though. 75 miles six days a week no matter what.

Camo-man(since he was wearing camoflage) was observered by the only eye witness for an extended length of time while at the home. Holly and Camo-man were observed kneeling and at various vantage points including Camo-man and Holly exiting in the woods.

In addition, some of Holly's blood was found.

There is an excellent point made for her abductor claiming.... if she cooperated then he would release her so she could go on to school & take her exam. Therefore,Holly indeed carried all her belongings & followed orders. But,the most logical way to be absolutely certain if.... Holly when she was last seen, was indeed carrying all her belongings .....would be to ask the eye witness. MOO

I am stuck at her carrying her car keys in one hand, a lunch bag, CELL and bag, books/binder in the other, all while being abducted, walking in flip flops, injured into the woods. This just cries out for some logic.

Maybe he went into the garage and startled her, she drops her items, and he says oh I didnt mean to startle you, here let me help you, they both kneel down to pick up the items, and then.. whatever happens. But how did her blood get there? Did he cut her? Did she cut herself on something? It just doesnt make sense. If someone cut me, and Im in my own garage, Im making a dash for the door leading into the house, forget my belongings. And Id be screaming loud and clear.

Maybe she didnt ACTUALLY scream, because it was the neighbor..
Certainly her brother would have heard her, asleep or not, since he heard the dog bark.
Maybe she was getting into the car, the neighbor startles her, and she drops her books, she recognises him, and he helps her pick up her things and for whatever reason convinces her to walk with him. The question there, is how long was it before the disappearence, and the neighbor telling his mom he heard a scream?

My guess is that part of her thinking may have been to not put Clint in danger. If the perp had a gun, Holly knew that Clint would be shot if he walked out of the house. There could have been some selflessness in her actions.

But if it was random, the neighbor claims to have heard her scream.
If only dogs could talk. Her dog knows. He barked.

Thank you is not enough for this post! It is so frustrating to hear the family in this case being second guessed. I really appreciate your insight, having gone through this yourself.

The first 911 call from the neighbor seems to be early on. I seriously doubt the Neighbor could have abducted Holly, gotten away with her, gotten home to call 911, changed out of a camo outfit, go back over to Clint's house and be there when the cops arrived... all within a half our or so. And Clint himself said he heard a stranger in the yard. He did not think the person he saw in the yard or the garage with Holly was the neighbor either. IMHO totally implausible. Plus there would be the obvious question of motive. If the neighbor was at home with other people that would also provide an alibi.

The search for Holly Bobo that came after the discovery of a purse that investigators believe she had with her at the time of her disappearance has ended.

According to a spokesperson for the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, nothing resulted from the search. They stated there were no plans to continue searching the area at this time.

You know what bugs me about the purse? The fact that the necklace and ring were inside of it when it was found (if that's true). Now, my question is...did she wear these every day without taking them off even to shower? Let's say that she took them off when she showered (if she did that morning) and grabbed her jewelry and put it in her bag to put on later. Then that would make sense to me. But if she didn't normally take her jewelry off, doesn't it seem a little weird that these things would be found in the purse?

I was thinking about this earlier and I really can't see the perp stopping in the middle of the woods, asking Holly to take her jewelry off, putting it in her purse and discarding it IF she had it on that morning. I guess it is possible but it just seems really odd if that's the case. What would the reasoning behind that be? Surely the perp wouldn't be thinking about jewelry while he was taking Holly away. To me, at least, it seems more likely that the jewelry was taken off when they reached the place that he took Holly (again, if she wore these items that morning instead of throwing them in her purse to put on later). Then the purse was discarded at some point after the abduction to get rid of everything he had of Holly's in his possession. OR, the jewelry was in the purse to begin with and I am making this more complicated than it needs to be.

I am just not getting it...but it might just be as simple as Holly throwing the jewelry in her bag that morning. I admit, I can often make simple things seem complicated without meaning to. But the jewelry being found in the purse has me wondering. I do know that many nursing programs (the one I am about to start included) do not allow jewelry to be worn so maybe it is just that simple. I would like to know more about this though.

Why? Because if the perp did go back to the woods to discard the purse...I think that speaks volumes. I can't figure out WHY he would return just to get rid of the purse instead of putting it in a trash can somewhere and letting it end up in a landfill.

Just random thoughts for me today....I think I am just dissecting every tiny little bit of information to figure it out because I am SO frustrated that they aren't out searching today. I feel like I need to do SOMETHING. I just can't understand why!?

I certainly hope that there is a VERY good reason for this! Really frustrating.....:banghead:
