[h=1]Six charged in death of man whose remains were found in Winchester, Tenn., backyard[/h]
The Franklin County grand jury indicted six people Friday in connection with the homicide of a man who was reportedly last seen in July 2017.

James Leon Wood, 50, of Winchester, Tenn., was reported missing on Jan. 18 and a search of his home was done on Jan. 25. His remains were found wrapped in a sheet or blanket and buried under a 5-by-8-foot concrete slab, positioned several feet away from an above-ground pool in the home's backyard.
Four people — Glenna Wood, Mikayla Harmon, Grant Poole and Shawn Hampton — have been indicted on charges of first-degree murder, two counts of conspiracy to commit murder and one count of abuse of a corpse, according to a news release issued Sunday by Winchester Police Chief Richard Lewis.

Kisha Anderson and Joseph Newingham have been charged with accessory after the fact.

Glenna Wood, Harmon, Poole, Newingham, and Anderson were located in Thornton, Colo., and arrested Friday afternoon. They were all taken into custody without incident, Lewis said in the release.

Hampton was found in Madison County, Ala., later that night and was also taken into custody without incident.

All suspects must be extradited back to Tennessee to face the charges contained in the indictments.

[h=1]Family members indicted for murder of Winchester man[/h]
Wood, 50, had been reported missing on Jan. 18 by his mother, who lives in New Mexico. She contacted police after she had not heard from her son in several months. After obtaining a search warrant, Winchester police officers went to Wood’s home, located at 124 Spring Hill Drive on Jan. 25, where they discovered Wood’s remains were discovered buried under a concrete slab in the backyard.

The grand jury met on Friday, Feb. 2 and handed up indictments against Wood’s wife, Glenna Yvonne Newingham Wood, his stepdaughter, Mikayla Danielle Harmon, and Harmon’s boyfriend, Grant Matthew Poole. The three individuals have each been charged with first-degree murder, two counts of conspiracy to commit murder and abuse of a corpse.

Also indicted were: Shawn Michael Hampton, on one count first-degree murder, two counts of conspiracy to commit murder and one count of abuse of a corpse; Kisha Evelyn Anderson, on one count of accessory after the fact; and Joseph Scott Newingham, on one count of accessory after the fact.

"Three more of the six people charged in the 2017 slaying of a 50-year-old Franklin County, Tennessee, veteran have pleaded guilty to murder charges.

Wood's wife, Glenna Newingham Wood, was the first to plead guilty to a first-degree murder charge in February. She had been sentenced to life in prison with the possibility for parole. She died in custody less than a month later.

Now, Glenna Newingham Wood's daughter, Mikayla Danielle Harmon Poole and her husband, Grant Matthew Poole, and Shawn Michael Hampton have entered guilty pleas in the case.

On May 30, Mikayla Poole pleaded guilty to facilitation of first-degree murder, reduced from the original charge of first-degree murder, and was sentenced to 20 years in prison as a standard offender, which means she will be eligible for parole after she serves 30% of the sentence...

The same date, Grant Poole pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, reduced from first-degree murder, and was sentenced as a persistent offender, which means he must serve 100% of his 42.5-year prison sentence, according to court documents....

On Tuesday, Shawn Michael Hampton, the last defendant facing murder charges in the case, pleaded guilty to facilitation of first-degree murder, reduced from the original charge of first-degree murder, and was sentenced to 20 years in prison as a standard offender, according to court officials.

Tuesday's court action leaves only two defendants pending in the case. Kisha Evelyn Anderson and Glenna Newingham Wood's son, Joseph Scott Newingham, are charged as accessories to murder after the fact. Both were released in early 2018 after posting $15,000 bonds."
