HUMPHREYS COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – Investigators are fearing the worst for a missing woman with disabilities in Humphreys County.

Janie Malady has been missing for 48 days. The 27-year-old was last seen walking down Porch Reed Road just outside of Waverly on April 10. Investigators say it was around 3 in the afternoon and some two hours later her cellphone terminated communication in the same area.

The Humphreys County Sheriff’s Office said Janie Malady was last seen Saturday on Porch Reed Road, just outside of Waverly, walking toward Highway 13.

Malady is five-foot-one. She has blue eyes and brown hair.

Deputies said it was not clear what she was wearing when she disappeared, but they explained she normally wears a leopard print hat that is commonly inside out.

Humphreys Co. Sheriff’s Office searching for missing woman

Janie Malady, 27, was last seen near her home on Porch Reed Road north of Waverly on April 10. Authorities conducted an extensive ground, K-9 and aerial searches in the areas identified by the investigation as being most prudent, the sheriff’s office said.

Malady is 5’1” tall and weighs around 100 pounds. She was last seen wearing a leopard print hat, leopard print shoes and was carrying a bag with a leopard print scarf wrapped around it. She has a known medical condition.

I have seen missing posters for her for months now. it seems as though the first one i saw was just after she went missing. But, i misread it to think it said 3 a.m.

ETA: it is pretty creepy that her phone went out two hours later...

Sorry to read of this outcome. I wonder if there is any significance to her phone "ceasing communication" after two hours. Hopefully the autopsy will provide some answers and perhaps closure for her loved ones.

I couldn't find MSM or LE confirmation on identification and cause of death of the remains found in Dec. I presume those were Janie's seeing as there is now an obituary and appeal for financial help with funeral expenses. My thoughts go out to all who love Janie. May she rest in eternal peace.
