Yes I read same. Found hrs. before.

Yes, apparently the two incident happened within hours. I'm thinking it's just coincidence but idk

I get a strange vibe that it is not just coincidence.

  • #84
Could the men have been more then just friends?
No judgement, just presenting as speculation.

Me too. LE in one of the links stated no foul play in Brooks death. Yet there still could be a connection. Also Brook's Uncle states no friendship between the 2 men. Another link states they were friends, neighbors and co-workers. I would grab all supporting links but they are here and we have company arriving any minute.

Well there is Reed's wife who's account isn't making much sense

(1) "Reed and Brooks were good friends, neighbors and coworkers at the NFD."

(2) "Brooks and Reed lived on the same street in Pegram. Brooks' uncle Jeff Carter said he has no knowledge of his nephew and Brooks’ friendship, doubting if there was even one at all."

Both statements come from the same link.

In the second statement from the link, it appears there is a typo.

Jeff Carter is Matthew Brooks' uncle. That sentence should read:

"Brooks' uncle, Jeff Carter, said he has no knowledge of his nephew and Reed's friendship, doubting if there was even one at all."

Correct me if I am mistaken about the typo.

Yikes. I had thought it was a week. Hours, hinky. Imho
I am reading all so where some have said within a week others have said hours. I am not sure if that is coming from death date or funeral date.
Also, it seems some are saying the firefighters worked together/neighbors were friends and others have said they aren't. Either misinformed people or msm.

ETA I do believe LE will dot the I's and cross the it's in this investigation. I have thoughts but that is all I mat be totally off as much as the info I have read.

There is a well-documented phenomenon called "suicide contagion" which could explain subsequent suicide(s) following a first suicide in a given community, regardless of whether or not there was a personal relationship between victims. That said, I am not confident Jesse committed suicide. My opinion only.

“Search Continues For Missing Fireman With Search Warrants Executed”
MARCH 10, 2018 AT 6:31 PM

“Authorities say that Reed’s truck went into the water around 1:30 a.m. Monday and deputies found the vehicle submerged. For the first time, authorities are reporting that Reed’s wife was also in the vehicle when it went into the water, but was out of the water when deputies arrived.

Search crews found the vehicle around noon, but Reed was not in it.

Search warrants were executed at residences in Humphreys Co. and in Cheatham Co. where Reed formerly lived.

Meanwhile, both TBI Spokeswoman Susan Niland said the investigation is active and ongoing.” (BBM)

So if the reporting is accurate, it appears as though at least (I cannot tell about from his wife from the article) Jesse had moved from Pegram (Cheatham Co.) to Waverly (Humphreys Co.).

Also, the following article has a bit more information about Jesse:

The reporting is anything BUT accurate. This story states that Jesse Reed has been missing since Monday morning. How can that be?

Nashville Firefighter Jesse Reed, age 32, has been missing since Monday morning after his vehicle plunged into the water near Mason’s Boat Dock in Waverly.

Well, now, it's all becoming as clear as mud! I demand to know what the media is smoking and drinking in Tennessee!

I give up trying to piece together what happened.

So he went missing before the funeral occurred?
ETA Color me confused. Maybe things will settle down and we can figure what are the actual facts.
Oops, didn't mean to reply to myself.

I believe he went missing the night of the 5th, morning of the 6th. I think that's just bad reporting. Also Matt passed on Monday the 5th, it has been reported "within hours"

I honestly wonder if he even knew of his friends death at that point, but it all depends. I think LE would know. I do wonder if there was a triangle of sorts

From this article Monday BUT late Monday night/early Tuesday morning. When the incident occurred and when 911 was called I "believe" I read it was 2 hours.
