What the . . .! I was feeling horrible for my suspicions the more it seemed like he had simply been swallowed up by the swollen Tennessee River. Now, I'm back to my usual old self it seems!

Well, well well !
I was about to say any EMS worker should be able to exit a vehicle BEFORE it goes under. Especially if the window was open!

Now I realize why the window was open.

Edit that statement to read: Any EMS worker who is still alive . . ..
But, on the other hand, I guess he could have floated out of the vehicle after it went under if he was already dead. I'm thinking more like he would have been trapped in it, even with the windows open. Oh, well. What do I know . . .

Now I remember the Sheriff -- or someone in LE -- stating that the open windows would make the vehicle sink faster. She probably figured he'd be washed on downstream in the current, vehicle and all. That may explain the 2 hour delay in her reporting that he needed help. Maybe she was watching from the ditch and the vehicle wasn't going anywhere.

Hmmmm... and is his friend's death any more suspicious now?...

I have speed read this thread - I am sure I missed a lot but:

- why search warrants?
- what connections does the properties searched have with the missing person?
- was it cadaver dogs or other search dogs that marked by the river?
- where is the wife now?
-in what condition was the wife found?

1. It has not been reported specifically as to why. IMO, there must have been enough questions raised (i.e., “Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis told News 2 that the timeline of events is being looked in to as they move forward.”) and evidence gathered during the first four days of the investigation to compel a judge to issue those warrants.

2. Jesse owns both properties, according to TN Property Viewer:
http://tnmap.tn.gov/assessment/

His wife is listed as a co-owner of the Waverly property but not the one in Pegram.

3. Cadaver (“Investigators told News 2 cadaver dogs have picked up his scent, but he has not yet been found.”):

4. & 5. The wife’s current location has not been reported.

As to in what condition she was found:

1) “Reed’s wife was found alive in a ditch near where her husband's truck went into the river”

2) “The female said the car was in the water, and that her husband was in it and needs help”

3) “Investigators believe Reed’s wife, Ellen, was with Jesse before the incident and she is the one that called for help.”

I believe this is pretty much all that has been reported via MSM. I have read additional accounts on SM, many of which I find very disturbing if true. I always take anything I read on SM with a giant grain of salt, but in this particular case, with two search warrants already executed and the TBI involved, I do wonder maybe some of the “stuff” is accurate ... :(.

Well, hinky meters aren't in need of calibration folks!

Now, WHY? and WHEN? And WHAT? He was physically strong man, so how did she overpower him? Where is he? What did she do to him? and WHY?

  • #173
Oh since she's now a suspect, SM for the wife can be posted!

If he was murdered, he probably was disposed of before the jeep hit the water IMO. Why take a chance of his body being found with evidence that he didn't drown? If he was transported somewhere else in the jeep before it went in the water, the cadaver dogs probably would've still hit IMO.

She is also an EMS/T correct? As a prior EMT, although it doesn't really require significant medical training, you're generally aware of what certain drugs etc can do. That would eliminate having to overpower him. Just a thought. Also, depending on the state, you're aware of ways to haul a person much larger than yourself, and at least here, EMTs and firemen are in really good physical shape. I haven't seen her SM so can't speak to that, nor do I know if she is a fireman versus EMT.
Or of course she could have had help.

WAVERLY, Tenn. - One week after the tragic disappearance of long-time Nashville firefighter Jesse Reed, NewsChannel 5 learned that officials have been looking into the possibility that foul play may have been involved.

snip

Sources also told NewsChannel 5 that officials were looking into the possibility the tragic suicide of Nashville Fire Department EMT Matthew Brooks on March 5 may in some way be connected to all of this.

So cadaver dogs hit on something. My guess is Jesse was in the car deceased but not when it went into the river.
