Custody issue = Court. You need to read back to see AM's relationship to this family. That sure would help you out.:moo:

That's incorrect. When LE states there may be or may not be custody issues, they are referring to possession of the child or the scheduling of who has the child at what time. Take it from a family law attorney. You don't need litigation for there to be "custody" issues. nevertheless, I don't think that's the issue here.

On the moms FB page she added a friend on May 1, but yet it says they have been missing since April 27, so someone added the friend on May 1, if it was not her

Yes, there was a report earlier that someone other than the mom added a friend. How LE knew that, I don't know.

Could be that someone accepted a previous 'friend request' on May 1. Doesn't mean someone physically added that friend that day, but that someone previously invited might have accepted the request May 1.

Alternately, family or LE may have her login information and are checking for any leads or new information. Many people store their login details as part of the 'remember me' option on sign in, so this might not be as suspicious as it first appears to be on the surface.

It could have been a friend request she sent out earlier and was just accepted by the other person on May 1. Either way, LE spoke out and said that it wasn't her IIRC.

Oh okay I didn't know that, I just started looking at this case when I saw it on my local news and thought that was interesting, but I guess its already been addressed

OH no, you got me all wrong. It does not take a court to make a baby. It would just make sense to why he was around the family so much, allowed to be close to the kids. Why the youngest called him "brother". This may have been an issue of them having a falling out, they would not let him see the girl anymore, or were now keeping her from him. People have children all the time and call it another mans kid, that is not unheard of trust me. The courts would have nothing to do with this, this would be a "private issue". IMHO

From what i have seen AM comes across as a groomer.

Could well be. Don't know enough to know if he groomed. I do know the family obviously trusted him and gave him an "all access pass" to their kids. Which in this day and age is odd. IMHO

I saw upthread where DeSoto County Sheriff's was helping Union County, so I was on their scanner feed for a few minutes, but it has since gone to offline. While I was on I was just hearing license checks one after another, which could have been in DeSoto County, but because that was the only thing I was hearing I wonder if they are manning a roadblock.

They were earlier today. Cousin lives in area and was stopped coming and going. My sibling and spouse drove out there and were able to drive right by the house. Cop cars all over and helicopters flying. DeSoto Co was called in to help out with other agencies, but Union co is the local officials. My sibling knows the people who rented the house but not sure if was rented to AM directly or his parents. They were told the 2 bodies were in shallow graves and trash had been burned on top of graves. Perhaps to hide the smell. I have not been out there, but this is what I have been told by my relatives who have been in the area today.

In one article, it was stated that during the initial interview LE had with AM, he gave them misleading information. A few questions spring to mind from that:

1. Does anyone recall reading what the misleading information was? Any recollection of that in previous MSM reports?
2. Current articles are stating that the bodies had been in shallow graves for several days. Why did it take until Friday/Saturday to locate them? That's almost an entire week since AM was first interviewed.
3. Does that mean it took almost a whole week to determine that AM had given false information when first interviewed?

BTW, I'm not being critical of LE in any way, I'm just trying to figure out a timeline of how things have unfolded this past week that ramped up attention on AM - especially Friday & Saturday.

Since the bodies had been there for several days I am thinking he must have killed the 2 right off and then the missing report went out. That would mean he killed them before he was interviewed by police otherwise they probably would have been free to go and thus not reported missing. So they may have been dead from the start.

Yes, I think so. Article upthread stated that were doing 'several' vehicle checkpoints.

Another article mentioned this:

I'm trying to figure out if that is just a generic plea for information, or does it read as if they think someone has specific information or has helped?

What do you guys think?

Yes, that's the article I was referring to...:waitasec:

This guy sounds pretty unglued, and like he is spiraling towards an endgame scenario. I hope the rumors that he may still be in the area are true, and that he is apprehended quickly.

Might be right. 'Several days' is a variable that's not very precise. Still leaves room for him to have kept them alive for several days, although as hostages.

I'll go check to see if I can find exact date he was interviewed.

If he's done what I think he's done, and the girls aren't with him alive, then I hope he saves the State a whole lot of grief and finishes his endgame by finishing off himself. Either by turning himself in, or turning his weapon on himself.

Better justice for all involved, but selfish arses like that rarely do the best thing, do they? :banghead:

I really pray they have a strong lead that he is still in Alpine area. If he did the killing immediately, he could be even in another state by now easily, or another country if he had the funds. I have to have faith in the amount of LE involved that they will get him, but just hope they can save the little girl or girls....:( IMHO

Or the bodies were not buried until later...or moved.

Union County deputies say Mayes is a friend of the Bain family. Neighbors tell abc24 news he would frequently bring Jo Ann Bain's 3 daughters to his trailer home in Alpine, Mississippi. That's about 100 miles southeast of Memphis. Patterson says he's been living there for more than 2 years with a wife and his parents. She says one of the 3 Bain girls may have belonged to him.

"He thought one was but as far as actually knowing for sure he didn't,” said Patterson.

But Mayes would tell his friends all 3 were his daughters.

"He has pictures of them on his phone,” Miller said. “He made us all think that was his kids.

DeSoto is back up, and it's hopping. I really really hope they catch him and that the kids are safe.

I'm thinking your timeline is sounding very close.

I found this article:

http://www.wptz.com/news/national/Bodies-found-in-probe-of-alleged-abduction-of-3-Tennessee-sisters-mother/-/8869978/12572972/-/i03pkaz/-/

Which states:
Authorities "initiated contact early in the investigation" with Mayes, who was "considered a friend of the family," but he fled, the FBI said. The 35-year-old white male -- who has blue eyes and brown hair, weighs about 175 pounds and stands 6 feet, 3 inches tall -- was last seen May 1 in Guntown, Mississippi.

So we know that LE had to have interviewed him on, or before, May 1st. So at most, he had 4 days before fleeing. The bodies were recovered May 4th or 5th, so it does seem likely that he killed the victims sometime in the four day span between April 27 and May 1st.

Interesting. This one says he fled when they tried to contact him the second time:
http://www.chron.com/news/article/TBI-agents-at-home-of-missing-mom-3-daughters-3537982.php

Siskovic said authorities talked to Mayes early on in the investigation, but he fled when they tried to contact him again.

Now wondering if he killed whichever two persons were found in a panic? Did he get rid of Mom and the oldest, figuring the little ones would be easier to control and less likely to escape?
