NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) - Multiple agencies were searching Kentucky Lake Saturday for a missing Fort Campbell soldier.

According to Lyon County EMA Director Dale Hawkes, the young man was with a group of other soldiers on the lake Friday.

Marshall County Rescue officials said the man, believed to be in his late teens, was being pulled behind a pontoon boat on a tube when it popped.

Witnesses said the young man was swimming toward the bank, when he went under and did not resurface.

Saturday the search was ongoing by Marshall County Rescue, Lyon County Rescue, Ky Fish/Wildlife, and McCacken County Rescue.

How sad! I wonder why he didn't swim to the pontoon boat instead of trying to make it to land? Pontoon boats are slow, it would have made more sense for him to swim there, unless his soldier friends were playing a prank and didn't stop the boat? I live on a lake, there are quite a few of these boats here- I don't understand this at all.
