Bumping for Karen...

Hope her children, other family members and friends are able to find peace this Easter Sunday.

With Sheriff Box stating that the community need not be overly vigilant (paraphrased) about Karen's killer...this leads me to believe that LE has a pretty good idea who the perpetrator is and it's someone that had revenge or similar emotions specifically against Karen.

Or they suspect it happened in an outburst of anger, and so therefore is a one time thing. JMO

I think that would be a very unwise thing to say, unless they know who the person is...anyone who kills someone in anger is, IMO, inherently dangerous to others...

It sounds to me as though they believe they have a suspect, and that the person was a danger only to Karen. But I hope they do know, and can soon work on proving it.

Yes, exactly! Just like in movies when a person says, "I've killed once, so now it doesn't matter!"
Also, we all been angry, but angry enough to actually kill someone?!!!

BBM I am just bothered by that. Someone killed KS. They have that in the file. They were definitely a danger to her. I just don't know how they can be so confident that "any suspect" might not be a danger to someone else or even themselves. Can we really ever know that about someone? This person may not have had a history of violence or murders prior to the night they killed KS but since that night they do have a history of at least one act of homicide. It is not like they got mad and keyed someone's car. How can they have this much faith in this person?

It sounds like Karen's murderer is not a raving lunatic running around the neighborhood abducting women (in their own cars) that were, by all accounts, asleep in their own homes.

I wonder if the DNA analysis has been completed. I hope investigators also analyze LCN DNA. Since Karen and her husband were in the process of an acrimonious divorce, there should be none of his DNA on her, not even LCN DNA.

Going back to the statement, "We do not have any information in our file that would indicate that anyone else would be in any danger from any suspect in this case..."

Josh Powell comes to mind.... letting him be with and have his custody of his sons...

OldSteve, that's exactly what I was thinking. If the killer is DS, then wouldn't the children - the girls in particular - be in danger? The girls were home the night KS disappeared. We don't know at this point what they've told LE, but I would think they've already discussed the events of that night with their dad. They would also be aware of any recent arguments between their parents and any threatening words.

If the killer is the neighbor who poisoned the dog, he too could present a danger to others if he has another dispute with someone. [Unless, perhaps, LE have him closely monitored.] And, certainly, a SO would continue to present a danger to others. I don't see how LE can be confident that no one else is in danger until someone is arrested.

I understand the thoughts, but not every person who kills their spouse ends up killing their kids. Josh Powell was a deeply disturbed man who was raised by a monster and seemed to be very influenced, even controlled, by his father. There doesn't seem to be that type of history in the Swift family background.
Without anything to go by, there is nothing they can do as long as this man has not made any threats or shown any signs of violence towards his children or anyone else.
It also sounds to me like they might not suspect the husband. If they found DNA or other evidence in the car or elsewhere and that evidence pointed to him, shouldn't he have been arrested by now??

They lived in the same house. It would be impossible not to transfer some DNA to each other. Some couples are even known to continue sexual activity during and after they divorce. Any LEO will tell you that they could not have avoided touching the same things, and probably even touched each other occasionally.

I read that as a cover your a** statement by the police. They do not "have information in the file" of the kind that the police in Utah and Washington had on Josh Powell. However, I am also concerned for these kids. Unless their suspect is also deceased, others are in danger.

I sincerely hope Karen's case does not fade into Oblivion!!!

I hope Sheriff Box steps up to the plate and fulfills his promise of an Arrest!

IMO, there seems to be oodles of evidence...so what gives?!!

Random murderer? Not likely in this case! That leaves two viable suspects with motives and perhaps a handful of players we're not privvy to knowing about (or much about)! :twocents:

I am still here hoping for justice for Karen. The family really make it seem as if DS is not to be suspected. WHO did this?? After seeing the surprising case in Samatha's disappearance, I have to HOPE that LE in Karen's case is watching the POI closely and waiting for them to slip up further.

Not sure why this song makes me think of the Tennessee woman that was divorcing her husband but had no choice but continue living with her abusive husband because of the one month paperwork delay in Tennessee. She was found under the kudju when there was front ... but otherwise, she would never have been found.

Who did it?

My gut feeling is that she was blinded sided.

So much for my thinking this case would be a "slam-dunk"! At first I thought it was going slowly because LE was having a problem deciding if it was 1st degree or manslaughter - now I wonder if they anything solid enough to go forward with...

I don't suppose you asked Dustin what his thoughts were on who killed his mother? It would be interesting to hear from someone close to KS their feelings on who might of murdered her.

I don't recall it ever being reported or any case files suggesting that DS was abusive towards KS, but I could be wrong. It has been a while now since we were digging into this case.

I too thought that once DNA evidence was examined this would be a slam-dunk and charges would be filed. Although I don't think we have heard if the DNA evidence examination has been completed yet either, but it sure seems like a long time now.

No I didn't just gave my sympathy. But I agree it would be interesting to see who the family thinks and I'm with you I thought it would have been solved ASAP!
