The question is what are they looking to find this late in the game?

I would like to think this is significant...but I am not full of faith in this LE.

Authorities execute search warrant at David Swift's home

DYER COUNTY, TN - (WMC-TV) - Authorities arrived at the home of David Swift, whose wife was murdered in 2011, to execute a search warrant Wednesday.

Karen Swift, 44, disappeared after a Halloween party, and her murder is still unsolved. Investigators discovered Swift's body near a cemetery two miles from her home. The 44-year-old mother of four was divorcing her husband David, but they lived in the same house.

I hope this is the break we are all waiting for in this case! I just cannot imagine what they were looking for after all of this time! I would be willing to bet that there is new information they have received that would make them search that home at this time. I can't imagine that a full search wasn't done at the time and can't imagine that DS would still be holding onto any evidence of the murder, if he is the guilty party.

Very puzzling...wondering if someone gave something up.....:waitasec:

An interesting development to be sure. Makes one wonder what they would hope to find this late in the case. What else is interesting is our local paper, The State Gazette, had the headline up on their website last night and actually quoted our sheriff saying DS is a person of interest. I went back to the website this morning and that quote is no longer there....something to the effect they have not ruled him out....but the quote "person of interest" is gone.

I still cannot believe the husband did it. I along with the rest of the folks in this area will just have to wait to see how this plays out. We also must remember there is now a high profile attorney in this case. There won't be any press releases or interviews with him in my opinion.

ETA: the paper also said that DS was able to leave the home while the search was going on.

I've had the online version sent to my email since Karen was reported missing. I read it every morning. Last night I looked on their website and I saw what you did about David being a POI. When my e-version came this morning, it was gone. I have thought Box was in the editor's ear from day one. They should have been on his doorsteps every month for an update. For some reason they chose not to!! JMHO though.

I think it is safe to say that LE is focused on the husband, whether or not they can prove it. But if he beat her to death...seems there would be a fair chance of DNA mixed with her blood. Hoping for an arrest soon.

I think the problem is that the husband's DNA anywhere on his wife, or her clothing, can easily be explained in court ... not sufficient evidence, even if it is a known fact that they were divorcing.

But maybe not so much, if his DNA or skin cells were mixed with her fatal wounds, perhaps. Hoping, anyway.

You're right! The cause of death was never released.

Beaten to death seems awfully personal.

I didn't think so! None of the other new articles from the last 24 hours are reporting that either. I don't know anything about this paper and it's reliability but it's an ABC affiliate so I would assume it's credible.

Quite a major point to just throw in and move on with the rest of the story.

It is a huge point to drop on us (the public) after two years of silence. I suppose it might be one of those points that was withheld to protect the integrity of the investigation and it slipped out.
