The driver, identified as Kenneth Wayne DeHart Jr. (DOB: 1/12/82), would not cooperate with deputies and refused to get out of the vehicle. A taser was deployed with no effect. At some point during the encounter, DeHart produced a gun and fired shots, striking both deputies.

Rest in peace. Officer McCowan !
Thank you for your service to your community.
My condolences to his loved ones.

The brother and girlfriend of a Tennessee man accused of shooting two deputies during a traffic stop, killing one of them, have been arrested amid a manhunt for the fugitive, according to authorities and court documents.

Kenneth DeHart, 42, is wanted on first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder charges in connection with the shooting of two Blount County deputies, state police said. He also faces one count of being a felon in possession of a weapon.
McCowan, 43, began working with the sheriff's office in 2020, after making a career change from manufacturing.
He was commended by the sheriff's office in April 2021 for helping save the life of a man trapped in a burning vehicle. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and restoring old vehicles, the sheriff's office said.

Hope they catch the perp soon.

After being a felon in possession of a weapon and killing one deputy and wounding another-- he knows he's going down for a long time.
Kenneth DeHart is extremely dangerous.

Hoping the public at large will stay safe, as well as LE.

As far as the perps' brother and sis in law... I have so much disgust.
If you're related to me or you're my friend (soon to be former friend) --and you shoot anyone -- don't come running to me !
I'll turn you in , in a nanosecond !

A murder suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a Tennessee deputy has been caught following a nearly weeklong manhunt, authorities said.

Kenneth DeHart was detained in Knoxville on Tuesday, the Blount County Sheriff's Office said on social media while sharing a photo of a large police presence outside a residence.

The 42-year-old fugitive was wanted on first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder charges in connection with the shooting of two Blount County deputies on Thursday, state police said. He also faces one count of being a felon in possession of a weapon.

Not sure about the details, or if someone turned him in; but thankful there was no more loss of LE or innocent life !
Omo.
