Found Safe TN - Mary Catherine Elizabeth Thomas, 15, Maury County, 13 March 2017 #1

I can't imagine Cummins not watching the news, so surely he has to know his vehicle make and license plate is out there. I'm inclined to think he ditched the car, but then how would they get around. Can't rent a car without id. Public transportation? Highly unlikely. If they were holed up in a hotel room somewhere, the car would be nearby, I would think. Easy enough to steal a license plate off of someone's car and put it on your own, but the car make and occupants would still be recognizable. Could they have gotten on a plane? Nope. Not without presenting ID's. So, where does that leave us? My best guess is a National Forest/ National Park. I live in The Cherokee National Forest and trust me, I could walk out my backdoor and never be seen again. Could I hide a vehicle here? You bet. Could I hide out with a vehicle here and still be within hiking distance of some sort of store where there's food? Yep.

They are stressing that she's in danger and she is IMO the low number of tips I'm worried he's convinced her to do a suicide pact. I really hope not but its been 7 days no sightings since he filled up. MOO

Reasons he could have taken her:

1) Thinking he was protecting her (from something) reason for the guns?

2) They had a Daddy/little girl thing going on. This goes on more than you realize. Many girls from broken homes are willing.

3) He was setting her up/grooming her for sex trade/prostitution??

4) There's genuinely a reason to get her away and protect her.

5) He fell into a deep sexual attraction to her/with her, and is taking HORRIBLE advantage of her.

NONE of these condone what he did!!! I'm just thinking out loud.

@ mountain kat I don't disagree, at all...that would be the most likely scenario...but what i'm thinking is more along the lines of living out a fantasy...remote beach et al...

I really think all national and state parks from AL to FL and beyond should be put on alert for his vehicle and their descriptions. I don't know if it's been done, the amber alert isn't enough for me. Going off the grid could include a state or national park or beach area. And, how much cash does he have on his person? Both may have altered their appearances by now. This would include hair colour changes, shaving off facial hair etc. Flyers need to go out electronically via email to all national and state parks. ASAP I can't shake the feeling they are at a campground.

There is reckoning that needs to be done at this school. I hope, REALLY hope that his wife's position didn't protect him. What a mess. What a failure.

As far as the grandson, it's possible he did not see or hear what happened. If he were at a computer with headphones on, for example. If he did see, often witnesses to these things are left in denial, confused, or feeling victimized themselves. We don't know what he did or did not say, but there could have been great pressure to keep quiet.

The FBI joined the investigation after Amber Alerts were issued for Thomas in Tennessee and Alabama. She was last seen being dropped off by a friend at the Shoney’s in Columbia around 8 a.m. on March 13. This from the update. Why was she not at school and who dropped her shoney's? GMAB! FBI involved because most likely not in the state of TN any longer. I'd be combing the beaches as well. Esp any state park that is along the shoreline to FL. Her flyer should be updated to show her with darker hair in case she dyed it. Her chin is distinct. She has a heart shaped face. Any and all hostels as well as the Y should be on the email list for flyers. All homeless shelters or shelters period.

And exactly how long is a 15 yr old girl totally into her SM world going to find camping out in the woods - without access to her digital life - enjoyable? Re-reading her IG and his, I think he's far more into her, than she ever was into him. Just my impression.

Her returning to the classroom after being told not to should've been a strong indication that this girl needed some type of help.
They should've known that punishing her wasn't going to be a good idea but instead they should've made sure she was receiving counseling services. They really should've made her parent aware ASAP.

I feel like this is something every parent knows - forbidding them to see each other is just asking for it.

No, I believe that reports are varied at this point and I am waiting for some dust to settle before I land on one side of the :fence: or another as to whether the school acted improperly in their handling of the issue. I posted article clips in response to another member questioning what other members were referring to in reference to ET being "punished" or penalized with an in-house suspension. I do believe that putting the minor, now abducted, and termed "groomed" child on in-house suspension sent the wrong message. As to the attorney's claims about school mishandling the teacher's suspension I am still :fence:

Per his IG account I think the same. His posts of young girl holding coffee well all of it gags me actually. But his interest in survival and firearms is a huge concern to me. He thinks himself a possible survivalist; he followed people who are exactly that; along with firearm sites. I also wonder how long she will go along with not having the usual girly girl things, as well as a digital life. If I were her family I'd be hot as **** all over the campsites on the way to florida up into GA and surrounding states. All campgrounds all hostels all YMCA's all beaches. They have to stop for gas. All gas stations via email should be notified with a flyer; vehicle description and their descriptions. I hope someone is on that.

HIs wife's position did protect him.

His wife's position also got him the job as a high school teacher. All he has is an Associate degree in respiratory therapy. How the heck des someone get a full teacher position with that, not even a Bachelor's degree!?!? In his application, he lists his wife, who works for "MCBOE" = Maury County Board of Education
