I have wondered about this all along.

Apparently the mother's abuse of her children has been going on for some time. With the type of home life that has been reported the Thomas children lived in, how did the mother have the patience ńeeded to homeschool the children?

Homeschooling takes a lot of time, preparation, organization, and an education oneself. With 10 children, where did ET's mother find time to run a house
as well as keep all her children under her wings?

I've also wondered about this. I've seen it mentioned here a few times that her homeschooling was "inadequate" however her father has stated on Twitter that she was advanced from homeschooling and was taking "Sophomore" classes even though she was technically listed as a "freshman." He said she was also believed to be graduating a year early.

Catching up and was hoping they would be found by now.

Praying for a break in the case soon. Hopefully someone will spot them soon.

Fwiw
Kat our VI said that they where not properly homeschooled. I'm paraphrasing but she said something like" a book was never opened in front of Elizabeth" I took that to mean that the mom was not really teaching the kids as per the appropriate curriculum based on their ages- academic levels.

Kat ( VI) said the school could only put Elizabeth back but so far.
So she may have been the correct age to graduate in 2019 but may have not been academically ready to graduate in that time frame.
But honestly, that makes no difference at this point. Bringing her home should be everyone's first priority. Worrying about her education will come later when she's found.
She's going to have a long tough road ahead of her after this severe trauma. She will surely need lots of love and support.

long time lurker... First time posting :greetings:
I've wondered if tc has family located somewhere other than the columbia, tn area. It has crossed my mind that perhaps he might try to get closer to his family (other than his wife and children) for help with hiding or disappearing? Just a thought.
welcome!!

And IMO the TBI knows exactly where Tad's relatives live. They have went through his PC, I'm sure they've interviewed his wife so they would know exactly who is in Tad's contact lists.

ET is 15, soon to be 16 and a freshman, 9th grader, in high school. The cutoff for starting school in TN is August 31. It appears ET was retained a grade when she entered 9th grade in her high school after being homeschooled. Normally, a 10th grader/sophomore would be turning 16 during the school year.
Many people retain their children, even with spring birthdays. If her homeschooling was inadequate, as we have been informed by her VI sister, she possibly tested on a lower grade level.
MOO (:

I only said that because her dad says more than once on his Twitter that she was ahead in school. Seems to me that there has been conflicting information about school, even the year she started. Sadly, this whole ordeal will only put her further behind.

Sometimes in cases like this, the family of the victim receives so much backlash and victim-blaming that often they may feel the need to explain how good they where to their children and such.
Example- trolls come on and blame the victim and family for the situation instead of placing the blame on the perp.
Family feels the overwhelming need to exclaim how they where great parents and everything was perfect. It's human nature.
Add being sleep deprived and emotionally drained on top of that.
As we know here, there's a lot of cruel people online and sometimes they get a kick outta being jerks to the victims families. So I totally understand when they go out of their way to try to show everyone that where indeed a good parent. I'm sure that they are just overwhelmed.
Luckily here on WS we don't see much of that and everyone here understands that victim blaming is not okay ever.

I doubt that ET would ever have to set foot in that school again.
I think when she returns, she will have lots of help available! Maybe even a private tutor, that the county will have to pay for.
I could be wrong.

It's pretty silly and I acknowledge it but I'm a little annoyed at the talk about pictures that are not for the general public and are on a "closed" Facebook page.

I feel excluded lol.

This could definitely be it. As a teen, I took off with a much older man just like this and quoted is exactly how he got me to stay when I thought I'd try to go back home. He'd be lost without me, he loved me, he'd given up everything, etc. Based on some of the back & forth I've read between these two, this fits right in. (It took me 3 months before I hit that point. Even with sleeping in car and rarely eating or showering, I was "in love" with the guy and thought I wanted to be there.)

Thank you very much for your perspective and :welcome6:

I just drove for about an hour tonight and I looked at the license plate of every car that passed me to the left or right. These are my observations.

You can't really make out the license plate of the car directly in front of you when you are following at a safe distance. But you can read the license plates of the cars that pass you on either side.

It's difficult to discern vehicle makes at night. All SUVs look similar, all trucks look similar, all sedans look similar. (A few stand out.) I have learned how to recognize a Nissan Rogue in daylight. But there's no way that I'd recognize one at night.

IMHO, they could easily avoid detection by driving mostly at night; like from 8 PM to midnight. :cow:

You're definitely right about that...maybe that's why TC opted to take the Rogue and not the Jeep. Jeep headlights are very distinctive. I actually have no idea what a Rogue's lights look like, but most SUVs do look the same. I think some members of LE are better at telling them apart since they naturally focus on the back of a car when they're pulling it over, but I never really pay much attention.

It's easy to join. Just ask.

Wouldn't it be nice if his car broke down?

She has so many different pages it's almost counterproductive. It seems like tips should all be posted to the same page. (After LE is notified)

MOO

I have found that to be a frustrating thing in other cases. There ends up being multiple FB pages about the person being missing.

With some research you can usually find the main one the family uses however it takes some digging. I suspect for a lot of the public that just has a passing interest in the story they do not take the time to study the pages and probably just end up on one they think is the main one.

It would be nice if there would be a standard way in the future to limit them. It would take some planning by FB or an agreed upon standard by the public how they could do that.

Other vehicles would stand out if the suspect and victim got out of the vehicle. If there is video, it will show the general area where they walked from.

Oh dear lord...I AM brain dead. I never even thought about them getting in and out of the car ! Thanks for inching my aching brain along, Bess.

Indeed it would. And given the temps will only continue to increase unless he's keeping the oil changed, among other necessary checks that's likely to be coming sooner rather than later.

Let's just hope when/if that does happen it's somewhere at least semi-populated.

It would.

You bring up a good point though that anything can happen that could allow a sighting of them. A flat tire where they have to change a tire on side of road or running out of gas somewhere or something along those lines.

Im always amazed at criminals (and child abductors) how they take chances and probably dont even think of the simple nundane things that could go wrong like that.

Some people have better luck than others I suppose. We need a stroke of luck to catch him and help her get home where she can begin to get back to a normal life of growing up.

Some simple stroke of luck is all we need.

There is one thing that has been touched on in past discussions that I still feel would really help to bring her home.

If LE or family or someone with authority could make a news conference and let her know she is not in any trouble at all and that she has a safe place to go home to then I think it could make a difference in this case.

The reason why I think that is important is because I suspect he has filled her head with false fears of what will happen to her when they are ultimately caught. It would be a control thing he would use on her to help keep her around as she begins to have thoughts that enough is enough with being on the run. He has probably told her all kinds of lies.

I really think some sort of news conference where she can get assurance that things are going to be ok for her would really help a lot in this case.

They would want to speak directly to her through the news conference. Similar to how the wife tried with the husband. But this time direct the message to her that she is not in any trouble.
