Don't know. Even if they did people in communes don't follow the rules of law. Isn't it interesting he told them he was a medic as I recall he worked in a medical missionary and taught CPR at the HS even a YouTube video of him teaching.

These people have no reason to lie and being they stay off the grid and against all society laws they don't strike me as people who enjoy media attention and are hours away from civilization, the road to get there is quite a few miles into the rural area. I live in CA used to live in northern CA and never even heard of this place

They may not enjoy media attention, but they enjoy the money. DailyMail does pay and the BBR numbers are way down, so what's a few dollars for a salacious story?

Why not give it to the commune if the guy doesn't accept it? Especially since they gave her 2 weeks of safe shelter and kept a eye on her while leading them to the last cabin they eventually got caught at.

Or just give the man the check and let him decide. But they shouldn't say if he doesn't want it, than ........?

Imo. Thats like hinting that he hopefully lets the dad keep the check. Jmo.

And not starting no trouble.

BBM

They were booted from the commune after 2 days, not 2 weeks.

Maybe but being duped or brainwashed into having a blast doesn't sound like the worst thing in the world.

A previously sexually and physically abused 15 year old kid, groomed for months by a manipulative, 50 year old, predatory authority figure, who then takes the child to various hotels and dingy locations where he commits statutory rape on her, is quite far from anyone "having a blast".

This wasnt a friendly, platonic Hollywood sight-seeing trip or vacation at Disney or Magic Mountain. Which would qualify as "having a blast" for a young teen girl.

That the repulsive crimes committed against this kid could ever be describe as brianwashing or duping her into having a blast is astounding to me. And horrible.

I thought there was some gofunfme accounts already set up for ETs family and a lot of money had been raised.

I agree it should go to the Good Samaritan and he should disburse it to his choosing. He earned it.

There's been a few of these cases where they end up here. But those were in LA or San Francisco. Bigger cities.

There's been some in northern CA and San Diego as well.

Okay so IANAL so my interpretation may be completely wrong but I'm gonna take a stab at this issue.

So Tennessee defines kidnapping as "false imprisonment as defined in § 39-13-302, under circumstances exposing the other person to substantial risk of bodily injury."

False imprisonment is defined as "A person commits the offense of false imprisonment who knowingly removes or confines another unlawfully so as to interfere substantially with the other's liberty."

The keyword here being unlawfully because in their definitions, they state:

""Unlawful" means, with respect to removal or confinement, one that is accomplished by force, threat or fraud, or, in the case of a person who is under the age of thirteen (13) or incompetent, accomplished without the consent of a parent, guardian or other person responsible for the general supervision of the minor's or incompetent's welfare."

So basically what this is saying (if I understand correctly) is that him taking her away would only be "unlawful" if she can agree that he did force, threaten or defraud her in some way. If she was under 13 then it would apply regardless of how it was done.

The prosecution probably has their work cut out for them but I have a feeling there's probably enough evidence to show a threat, force and/or fraud even if ET doesn't believe that occured. Also, there's a chance she will come to terms with what happened and see what he did to manipulate her by the time this goes to trial.
I don't think it matters what Tennessee laws are. He crossed several states violating Federal Laws.
Hopefully Gitana1 will answer.

ETA: I wasn't aware "communes" exsisted! I watched about 30 min of a documentary on Black Bear last night. Gonna finish it today. I find it interesting. Even though now there are only a few people there.

Exactly. I think he should take the money and do with it however he sees fit. If he doesn't feel right about keeping it, I'd be happy to suggest several reputable SAR groups, shelters for homeless teens, The Polly Klass Foundation, etc. etc. LOTS of ways that money could be put to good use. :)

Agree. Give the check to him and thats that. So the last portion of if he doesn't want it than its going to the father?

That part shouldn't have been mentioned. Jmo.

Survivor shares message for Elizabeth Thomas

http://wkrn.com/2017/04/21/survivor-shares-message-for-elizabeth-thomas/

Then things took a bizarre turn. Greene said Ross began making sexual advances toward her.

“He would say things like, ‘I want to kiss you so bad right now,’” Greene told News 2.

When Greene was 15, she said the advances progressed to sex.

She told News 2 it wasn’t until 2014 that she realized her pastor committed a crime.

What she wrote is what a lot of people don't understand unless they've been educated or experienced it themselves. These predators don't walk up to a confident young teen and say "hey baby, let's do it". They sit back and find the teen who is alone, the girl who is pretty and doesn't know it, the shy one, the quiet one, the one who won't tell anyone or doesn't have anyone to tell. Then they groom them. Tell them they're pretty and special and different than all the other girls their age. And then they make a small move, and when the girl feels uncomfortable they assure them that it's normal, that it's love. They say things like "Don't you like me? If you like someone you touch them here." and then it goes from there. There's guilt, manipulation and once they hit a certain point they tell them they're dirty or that no one else will want them anyway and they convince them they have no way out. And then if they fight back or attempt to end things they threaten them. Look, as an adult a teacher can tell an entire class of teens to sit down and be quiet for the entire class and they will. They've been taught to follow orders from adults and normally it's fine, but when you have a predator they understand they can tell that child anything and the child will believe it. Even adult women can sometimes have a difficult time drawing lines and boundaries. These predatory men are pros at this and it's disgusting.

I use coconut oil for many things. From cooking/baking to personal uses. I've never used it for anything in the "bedroom"
And we use coconut oil

I agree. As I have said, IMO this is worse than a stranger abduction.
Much.

Some reports say two weeks and some say two days. The commune residents said two weeks. So this is not real clear as of yet.

I agree, I was mostly explaining it because someone said news stations are reporting that the case might fall apart because of that loophole in the definition.

If it were me I'd put it in a fund for Elizabeth to collect at a later date. However, I do believe that he should have it and use it there.
I kinda feel sorry for him as that place will have this story attached to it for a while.

Agree. They did their 2 week vote. Now 2 days is impossible since they clearly said how the 2 were spending those weeks together.

Btw. They wouldn't garner all of that on a short 2 day stay. So I believe the members when stating close to the 2 weeks probationary mark.

Because Tad was nervous for the first couple of days per 1 persons statement.

http://www.newschannel5.com/news/reward-to-be-given-to-amber-alert-tipster?autoplay=true

"Chandler Anderson said he wants to fly Griffin Barry to Columbia and physically hand him the check.

"We want people to see the guy that brought Elizabeth home and we want him to see the gravity of it because this community has been changed by this," he said.

Anderson is waiting to hear back from Barry. He said if for some reason he doesn't want to accept the reward, the check will go to Elizabeth's father."

I find this distasteful, almost abhorrent actually. And the stated reason for this circus is obviously specious. Please! Pfffttt.
I think they just want to have their very public, *Feel Good* moment, and maybe put some pressure on the guy not to take the reward, have him meet the family and so on, since they have now, pretty much stated, if he doesn't take the money it goes to the family, now it's as if, accepting the reward money means the Thomas don't get it.

I hope he blows them off and quietly cashes the check. And I think they should have waited to hear what his answer was, before making there "invitation" public! Uhhgg!

http://www.cnn.com/2017/04/21/us/tennessee-teacher-kidnapping-suspect-arrested/

Cummins and the teen arrived at a Cecilville-area gas station last week, apparently on their way to visit a commune, Barry told CNN.

So they couldn't have stayed at BBR for 2 weeks.

We are talking by the commune and not the cabin. You originally replied to my 2 week commune stay and you said it was 2 days.

So you mixed up the commune stay with the cabin stay. Jmo

Because they clearly left the commune and then headed to that last place. So there is a typo or something in the article. Jmo
