folks, she was a new student with a very sad background. for all the school and LE knew, there were other abuser(s) in the home. they had to tread very softly in order to protect her from what could've been potential backlash (further abuse). not that any of this was the case, but they didn't know that at the time. would easily explain why they didn't rush to tell her parent(s) when they were still investigating how or what exactly happened on school grounds.

Hadn't she been at the school a year and a half by the time of the first kiss? I don't consider that "very new" and even if she was homeschooled it was more than enough time for other teachers and students to get to know her. And they knew how he was with students - if they considered her so vulnerable and in need of support he's the last person they should have left her alone with.

Cummins is 50 years old
Cummins married his wife in 1985
Cummins told students he was a millionaire and a CIA operative that traveled on secret missions

On January 23 a female schoolmate saw TC kiss ET on the lips in the classroom with TC's grandchild in the room "Cummins was inside his classroom after school Jan. 23 with his grandson and Thomas, the girl told family members, when she walked in and inexplicably saw them kissing. Cummins and Thomas were sitting side by side in chairs and kissed on the lips as the grandchild, who also attends Culleoka, was using one of the classroom's computers."
http://www.columbiadailyherald.com/...but-reported-seeing-him-kiss-elizabeth-thomas

January 24th the female student confronted TC about the kiss with another student. TC told the students he was a father figure to ET and she was a "close and best friend". "The 12-year-old seventh-grader went to Cummins the morning of Jan. 24 for an explanation before reporting him, the family said. She wanted to know the nature of his relationship with Thomas."
http://www.columbiadailyherald.com/...but-reported-seeing-him-kiss-elizabeth-thomas
and, "According to his personnel file, when Cummins was confronted, he told two students he was a “father figure” to Elizabeth and saw her as a “close and best friend.” He also said that Elizabeth “had been through a lot and had suffered an abusive home life.”"
http://www.wsmv.com/story/34967126/da-missing-teen-had-troubling-home-life

LE also started an investigation. "The student was "very credible," Maury County Sheriff Bucky Rowland said, setting off an investigation into Cummins' behavior and relationship with students."
http://www.columbiadailyherald.com/...but-reported-seeing-him-kiss-elizabeth-thomas

January 30th school concluded investigation, found no evidence since both ET and TC denied the kiss but ET was removed from class.
January 31 ET's father found out about kiss from Sheriff who was investigating the issue.

February 3 TC is reprimanded for having ET in his room. Another teacher said she was in the classroom for over 30mins.
"The teacher would later be reprimanded on Feb. 3 by school principal Penny Love after the girl was seen in Cummins classroom for a little more than half an hour that day. In her letter, Love said the girl being in his classroom was a violation of the principal’s order to him."

Amber Alert has not been issued nationwide.

LE believe they may be in Mexico or Central America posing as missionaries.
"Law enforcement in Mexico has been notified of the Amber Alert," Cooper said. "But we don't know how much publicity it's getting and we need people down there to know about this because it's possible that's where they are. Cooper said although authorities don't have any information specifically linking Cummins and Thomas to Mexico, it's possible they made it that far."Because he was a very religious man, very knowledgeable of the Bible, it's possible that he's playing the role of a missionary in that area," Cooper said. I'll be editing this post with sources and such, but is there anything I missed?

Destany Parrish is a former student who TC may have groomed prior to ET, made alone time for the two of them and sang her a love song he'd written. He told us all one day that the office had gotten on to him and that we all had to go back to the lunch room because that's where we're supposed to be anyway," Parrish recalled. "Everybody left and I got my bag and got ready to leave, and he said the office hadn't said anything to him, he just didn't want that many kids in his room. It just ended up being he and I chilling in there. I would go there after school.”
Parrish said she would go to Cummins’ room after school and he would often take her to services at the Destiny Church in Columbia Parrish was 15 at the time, in 2011 she was his student.
http://www.wsmv.com/story/34977042/t...p-with-teacher

"One day, Parrish said Cummins arranged for them to be alone and he sang the lyrics he had written.
One of the lyrics read, "I could swim for a thousand miles in the oceans inside your eyes and never reach the side."
"It was just me and tad. We were in the music room. It was right next to his classroom, and I had learned a new song on the piano," said Parrish. "I was gonna go show him, but he sat down first and played that song, and I started recording a little bit in.
When asked if she felt the song was for her, Parrish said she didn't assume, but looking back, things seem different."

They would have to contact child protective services if there were allegations of abuse. Child protective services and the police should be very familiar with her situation because of the charges from the mom and the kids being given to the father.

There would have been numerous investigations into the father from child services because of this.

I'm not buying this.

What time did TC leave the house for his "interview"?

What time did TC pickup ET?

Do we know what TC was doing in between?

Do we know what ET was doing that day? Could she have been in contact with TC, even though he was not home?

  • #105
Forgive me if this has been brought up already, but would the protocol not also involve reporting this incident to the Department of Children's Services? In my state (WV), the two investigate abuse allegations separately.

Another thing I would like to mention is that kids who have suffered abuse (I adopted two older children) are so emotionally vulnerable, as has been stated. Even when they are finally safe and in good situations, they often will do just about anything to gain attention; it has broken my heart on more than one occasion. They are also incredibly vulnerable to manipulators. I just wanted to point that out for the people who are assuming the situation she was in until March 13 was obviously an unhappy one.

Praying for her safe return to her family! Thanks to this community for all you do! (All of the above is MOO, of course!)

Yes she had and the cops and child services knew of her well, because if the mother's charges and upcoming court case.

If there was any question of abuse at home, child services would have to be contacted by law, for any child.

I was referring specifically to several posts saying that this child refused to wear a green ribbon because she supports TC, and that she's helping them, and that she must be involved in some way because she's not cooperating, etc. etc.

End of commentary.

The story of ET and TC, or Mrs. Catherine Commins and Mr. Eric Commins or whatever they purport to be now, reminds me how difficult it is for acquaintances to discern the true from untruthfulness. The ET and TC community and school peers will struggle with these conflicts for a long time.

There was a time my grandfather admonished me for inviting a neighbor in the inner parts of our compounds. I said “Why not? They are friendly neighbor.” My grandfather explained to me that I must watch carefully the behavior and facial expression of their children. He said “these friendly neighbors display such friendly behavior toward us but their children are have scornful expression and withering feeling under the surface. That is because scorn is the true feeling of the adults toward us when they speak of us at home in front of their kids.” It took me many months, proven criminal behaviors from the neighbors, and some sad events including the attempt at corrupting and then at killing one of our retainers to open my eyes. My grandfather knew from a child’s fleeting scorn what I was blind about for months.

Facial expression is a subjective observation but it tells. Deceptive behavior is the trademark of child molesters but it could be unmasked. The brave 12-year old who confronted ET and TC, despite the alleged attitude of ET and the suasion of TC afterward, is bright and intelligent. She reported the kiss because appearances did not mask “the child’s scorn”.

We need to think out of box and behave such as this little girl.

Do we know that CPS wasn't involved?
There has been no mention of CPS anywhere in anything. CPS would contact the father immediately and determine immediately if ET needed to be removed from the home while they investigated.

They will be testifying at the mother's trial and they determined the children were safe to be given to the father.

Another concern now in discussing this.. I'm guessing ET still had a guardian ad litem, but she might not have since it seems custody had been decided. If she had a guardian ad litem, they for sure should have been contacted immediately.

Maybe an attorney on here has more info on that.

During yesterday morning's press conference LE did say they believe it is a possibility they went to Mexico and may be posing as missionaries, but he stressed this as a possibility. They also said they had notified law enforcement there and hoped U.S. Citizens would spread the word to BOLO to anyone they knew in Mexico.

That link was posted many times yesterday morning if you want to go back and look at it.

I listened to the PC live. Although they suggested they could be in that direction and asked for public to spread the word there, I don't think it was said they "LE believe" it. Maybe it's the wording, I like your phrasing that it is a possibility.

After this many days with zero confirmed sightings, I think it's safe to say this was a well thought out plan.
He isn't going to be this lucky forever though, he will make a mistake ( if he hasn't already)
Lets also keep in mind that LE isn't going to show their deck. If they are looking into a certain area, it's very unlikely that they'll share that information with the public. They wouldn't want to risk Tad catching wind that they where onto him.

He could've very easily picked up a cheapy prepaid phone and paid cash for it and paid cash for the minutes. As long as he doesn't link that phone to his email account, social media accounts and so on, he could use that phone to monitor any media buzz on the case and the chances of that phone being tracked back to him are slim as long as he didn't try to access any of his personal accounts.
I know it's been brought up a few times here already but I don't think people really understand how difficult it would be to trace that type of phone Back to him and his current location. It's not as easy as people think it is and as long as he didn't try to access any of his personal accounts, it would seriously be like finding a needle in a haystack. Think about it- think about how many people are clicking on Tads story on the news. Then think about LE having to pinpoint the IP addresses of every person who followed the stories and then locate them. Not to mention the various VPN programs available for use on mobile devices.

He can also have access to the internet through other means. My library, gym and my car dealer all lets you log on as a guest.

her mother was charged in January 2016 and ET attended public school for the first time in September of 2016. the school had only "known" her for five months.

our verified insider even said her 'homeschooling' was a joke and that there was "never a book in front of her". so IMO I doubt the school had a real handle on her educational background and home life. child services was well aware however.

keep in mind the human factor too folks. the T's and/or the C's could have a best friend or worst enemy on the school board and in law enforcement. none of us, including the latter, live to the letter of the law 110% of our lives and even those sworn to uphold those laws aren't perfect. i'm just not blaming the school or LE. I believe it was Dec 2015 when she started attending school.

I have experience with kids in the CPS system, the school is beyond aware of that situation in every case I'm aware of. At minimum to make sure the parent is never seen at school nor is in any way allowed to get the child at school.

Sorry to drive everyone crazy picking every little thing apart until there's nothing left but bone. I'm annoying. Hang in there. LOL!
